Very sad and tragic that the American educational system was actually sold a bill of goods by a business selling an alternate method of reading instruction that replaced phonetics in most schools, and produced a lot of kids who could not read very well. Many school systems (eg, NYC's) have now gone back to phonetics.

Very sad and tragic that the American educational system was actually sold a bill of goods by a business selling an alternate method of reading instruction that replaced phonetics in most schools, and produced a lot of kids who could not read very well. Many school systems (eg, NYC's) have now gone back to phonetics.
