"I listened yesterday. It's no reflection on you but I could'nt see where you were going or what you were going for. This early seventies thing did'nt get noticed the first time and you talk about friends of like Dealney and Bonnie who had records out like we're supposed to remember who they are. Then you play this long winded free jazz stuff that really grates on my nerves. And that noise without a beat and sounds like someones being pinched. Then you play a reggae song, I think you called it Dub, to what, be cool? You seem to really fetishize the whole folk thing too which is obnoxious to us who don't even care. I liked it when you played that punk song though. I like Joe Belock a lot." (Visit homepage.)

Am I correct in remembering Stewart Copeland insisting on being called a "percussionist" rather than a "drummer"

In other news: right outside my window, crews are running concrete saws and moving metal plates around. Shaking the entire building. I imagine this is how John Allen recommends listening to the show.

he's written some orchestral pieces for percussion, been involved in gamelan, etc. i think it's fair to say he's a drummer as well as a percussionist (sorry not sorry)

I'm certainly not questioning his abilities or bona fides, am just amused that someone would take themselves so seriously that they consider being called a "drummer" pejorative

Is "Peace for Five" from the Wheeler's Deer Wan album? I'm not familiar with that album, but that lists Abercrombie on guitar and this sounds just like him. My YouTube-foo is coming up short.
