Back downtown on this show, visiting Milwaukee's trendy Brady Street to interview people. Lots of annoying traffic noise and plenty of liberals. Just one Republican with a missing tooth, pissed off about her pit bull being admired by gang members. Enjoy.

Couple of guys on a stoop wondering who the hell I am.
|
The first pessimist of many I encountered. I want you to know I skipped out of work to make this show on this lovely spring day. The next day, vicious hail and tornadoes
pummeled Iowa City. These new tornadoes are globally warmed and vicious. Enjoy.

Excerpts from another LP I have used to death! I need to get out and dig up some new historically referencing vinyl. Here are Eddie Cantor, Edwin Newman and Al Smith on the Abbott LP "The People's Choice," distributed in 1968 by the friendly makers of sleep drugs Placidyl and Nembutol (which became much more recreationally popular than this LP). Here's a quote from the record .... "You rest assured with either candidate whenever sleep is therapy." zzzzzzzzzzz

Paper Lace (from Nottingham, England) did "The Night Chicago Died" and originally did "Billy Don't Be A Hero" (#1 in UK) before Bo Donaldson and The Heywoods covered it and had a big hit with it. Black-Eyed Boys was recorded in '74.

Terrell - A really nice guy. Refreshing.

Excerpt from Jerry Falwell. I have to say, I have a little pity for him after I read that he lost a brother in the war. Maybe it explains his venom.

Apologies for the tape wow and flutter on this show, especially noticeable during songs. My Technics RSB11W is finally in its death throes ... BUT just got a replacement on EBAY for $15. Dual-Cassette technology! I hope this new one works. I'm picking it up tomorrow. Always a crapshoot.

This song was written by Alex Harvey. Band member Mary Arnold is from my hometown in Iowa. She got the job in the band by beating out Karen Carpenter in an audition! That said, Karen is one of my favorite vocalists ever. And Mary is organizing her late husbands (Roger Miller) museum in his hometown of Erick, OK. I dig KRATFE.

I wonder why the horn rock of the late 60's early 70's (Chicago, Blood, Sweat and Tears, Chase, Buckinghams, Ideas Of March, Spiral Staircase, Lighthouse, etc. etc,) is somewhat sneered at sometimes. Probably the same way "band kids" were sneered at in high school. The whole horn nerd vibe. I always liked it. But I was a band kid, too so ... I love the first (double) album. Come to think of it ... who cares what I think?! Ha!

Thank You for checking out The Dusty Show! I work pretty hard on it and the results are always mixed. Your feedback, ideas, etc are appreciated. I welcome your e-mail. dusty@wfmu.org Also ... because I send the show in and am not on "live" i cannot take your phone calls. I would like to hear what you have to say though. Call the Dusty Show Answering Machine and leave your own taped comments, thoughts on anything at all, poetry, musings, minute long songs, etc.
I'll check them out and play them on the air. Here is that telephone number. Jot it down and keep it in your wallet or purse for future reference.
OK my friends. This is the end. For now. Take care and ... always remember. CP
