Playlist for Brian Turner - May 29, 2007

Tuesdays 3pm - 6pm on WFMU 91.1 fm 90.1 fm wfmu.org

Order and disorder in a freeform haze of terribly played guitars, shorted-out electronics, found audio detritus, strange sounds from strange lands all around. Psych-punk-junk, collage, even pop. Lots of in-studio live performances to boot.

Stephen Kijak  Interview   Director of the Scott Walker Documentary 30th Century Man  Steven Kijak's new film 30th Century Man chronicles the life and times of Scott Walker, one of popular music's true enigmas. Starting out as a Sunset Strip bassist, Walker ascended to hysteria-inducing megastardom in the late 1960's as an American transplant in Britain with the Walker Brothers. He soon turned his back on it all, and spent the next thirty years evolving into one of the most challenging and unique artists ever, inspiring countless modern pop and experimental musicians. He's continued to reinvent his own approach to record making, taking 1995's Tilt, and it's follow up 11 years later, the Drift, into sonic realms completely uncharted by anyone. Kijak's film premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival this month, and he'll be giving us a behind the scenes lowdown today with Brian. More info at www.scottwalkerfilm.com.    2:09:09 (Real)
