hey irwin, a friend of mine has become obsessed with your songs in the key of z book; any chance for a sequel?

Tue. 3/25/08 9:08am From: JJZ

I'm enjoying this Intersection song.

Tue. 3/25/08 9:10am From: Irwin

Lonnie: I don't have the patience to write a KoZ sequel. Will your friend write it for me? Will you? Any takers?

Tue. 3/25/08 9:12am From: Negator

Irwin, Did you hear Rupture show on Fri. last week? Had a Canadian DJ remixing a bunch of Sooca. Sounded terrific!

Tue. 3/25/08 9:13am From: Negator

Socca, I mean.

Tue. 3/25/08 9:15am From: GUMBY

That Intersection piece was way out, like the Land of the Giants theme, but trippier. Nice set.

Tue. 3/25/08 9:15am From: Parq

Ol' Pal, what a delightful surprise! Looking forward to freeform virtuosity this AM.

Tue. 3/25/08 9:20am From: Negator

Ghislain Poirier is the DJ's name and Rupture's show is on Wed. If you didn't listen to this show you might appreciate this guy. I know how much you love Socca. I do too. Because I listened to your show...

Tue. 3/25/08 9:23am From: Parq

Let's not forget to mention Rupture's blog, negrophonic.com. Essential stuff for any truffle-snuffler.

Tue. 3/25/08 9:24am From: Negator

Like that Intersection stuff ALOT! I'll be looking into that. THanks, Irwin.

Tue. 3/25/08 9:34am From: pamela

Wow, Tom Jones is burnin' down the house... Great!

Tue. 3/25/08 9:35am From: GUMBY

Tom Jones & the Cardigans? And I thought that Intersection was trippy.

Tue. 3/25/08 9:36am From: JJZ

Yeah, this is probably the best bit on that Tom Jones Reload CD.

Tue. 3/25/08 9:41am From: Negator

Kenny G is insane! I hope you guys can get that line-up together. I miss the transitions between you two guys. Funny stuff...

Tue. 3/25/08 9:42am From: Charles

Happy to hear you again, Irwin. I'm looking forward to the restoration of the Ken-Irwin-Kenny Wednesday combo. I've been listening for over 8 years, and you're my gateway DJ from back in the days of Incorrect Music. Thanks for the great radio.

Irwin - I don't know of any cds by Kepa Junkera (the wonderful Basque accordionist now playing) in the FMU library. Is this your own disc, or is it in the library?somewhere? Just wondering, for future reference... - Rob W

Tue. 3/25/08 10:27am From: Irwin

Speaking of which, can anyone recommend how I can get old cassette tapes into either CD or MP3 format? Best way?

Tue. 3/25/08 10:39am From: carol

Hi Otis. I was sleeping too. But it's not half over yet. He's playing hippie music.

Tue. 3/25/08 10:47am From: Rob W

Regarding converting cassette audio into mp3s or cd tracks: There are a lot of ways... You can buy a stand-alone cd burner, that you use without a computer, and simply connect the cassette player to it and dub. You can buy a Pro Tools mbox or mbox mini and hook it up with your computer - that's kind of the more serious and precise way to do it. That gives you both the hardware you need to load audio from any source into your computer, and the software to edit it and convert to WAV files for cds or mp3 files. That's what I do but I do Pro Tools production for a living. Also I believe someone is now marketing a cassette player with USB connector to the computer for loading cassette tracks into your computer. One problem you have no matter what is slicing up the audio into individual tracks. Some programs exist to attempt to do that for you automatically, but the only really surefire and precise way to do that is manually, with a program like Pro Tools or other audio editing programs, and that takes time no matter what.

Tue. 3/25/08 10:48am From: jonathan

pamela,
i just bought an i-mic. it works on either pc or mac.
about $35. it allows you to hook up your turn table, cassette player, 4 track etc. to your computer.

Tue. 3/25/08 10:49am From: otis

so when are we going to hear.... gulp... hannah montana?

Tue. 3/25/08 10:50am From: Mickey Mephistopheles

Pamela: Tape Deck -> Computer sound card -> your hard drive. Good software: Audacity. Better software: Adobe Audition. Good sound card: Whatcha got. Better sound card: M-Audio Audiophile 192 or 2496.

Irwin: Hi!

Tue. 3/25/08 10:50am From: Rob W

Correction on my cassette-to-mp3/cd comment: I should have said "stand-alone cd RECORDER" rather than "burner." For instance the Sony RCD-W500C is a widely available consumer model, though I can' t vouch for it.

Tue. 3/25/08 10:51am From: Cecile

I like that you like Lee Morgan so much.

Tue. 3/25/08 10:53am From: Marty from Chico

"Drive on Driver" could have been a Kenny Rogers song in another life!

Tue. 3/25/08 10:53am From: otis

i agree with cecile. you could play a whole 3 hours of lee morgan. great music to work with and my toes are tappin.

Tue. 3/25/08 10:54am From: GUMBY

Love the Lee Morgan. I saw a picture of him from Francis Wolfe at Blue Note and Lee had a bandana. Does that make him a hippie?

Tue. 3/25/08 10:59am From: Cecile

Yes. A total hippie.

Irwin, ITA. we should have 179 minutes of Lee Morgan next time.

Tue. 3/25/08 11:04am From: otis

i thought you'd have hannah montana's work on a usb drive connected to your key chain for fast listening at any given moment. i am now convinced you are a hippie. i'm calling crazy eyes killah, he wants his jersey back.

Tue. 3/25/08 11:04am From: Pat

First-time listener from Columbus, Ohio. Enjoying the show.

Tue. 3/25/08 11:06am From: Laurie

Hanna Montana thinks Jesus rocks: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rb_HXgPlgEs

Tue. 3/25/08 11:06am From: Laurie

For the record, I think Raptor Jesus rocks.

Tue. 3/25/08 11:09am From: Pamela

Thanks!

Tue. 3/25/08 11:09am From: carol

If it comes from a Putumayo cd, I think that makes it hippie music.

Tue. 3/25/08 11:10am From: Irwin

In tribute to Hatch, we are all honorary hippies today. Go Obama, the New Messiah!

Tue. 3/25/08 11:11am From: Midwest Trish

Bong hits for Obama!

Tue. 3/25/08 11:11am From: Cecile

Carol: double hippie points if you bought it at a store that has rocks that say "love" on them, and bags woven of the hair of organic unicorns and faeries.

Tue. 3/25/08 11:11am From: Negator

Is this Del Shannon w/ Jeff Lynne?

Tue. 3/25/08 11:13am From: nh_dave

Tue. 3/25/08 11:16am From: DeemerDave_NH

I have always hated "Laid". Depraved.

Tue. 3/25/08 11:18am From: carol

Cecile,
I think Irwin shops there weekly.

Tue. 3/25/08 11:19am From: Cecile

LOL! He should be able to redeem his hippie points for an incense burner or something, then.

Tue. 3/25/08 11:21am From: aharon

Musical alchemy! Gives this Tuesday morning a Saturday afternoon feel. The perfect way to hide genteely from the day.

Tue. 3/25/08 11:33am From: sahak

McCain bites eh?

Tue. 3/25/08 11:33am From: Midwest Trish

Songs like this are why sometimes singing is best left to the professionals. Oy.

Tue. 3/25/08 11:34am From: dei xhrist

This Raining McCain will guarantee more votes for anyone but McCain.

Tue. 3/25/08 11:35am From: Parq

I got through about 15 seconds of the video before I lost interest. Thanks, Ol' Pal, for making sure I got the complete experience. I will add that I think the one on scren-right with the long hair is hot.

Tue. 3/25/08 11:35am From: Sean Daily

That John McCain song was ALMOST as good as Waskey Elwood Walls, Jr.'s "Jimmy Carter Says Yes".

Irving! It's always a pleasure.

But it really is a pleasure, honest.
