Tue. 3/25/08 9:07am lonnie:

hey irwin, a friend of mine has become obsessed with your songs in the key of z book; any chance for a sequel?
 Tue. 3/25/08 9:08am JJZ:

I'm enjoying this Intersection song.
 Tue. 3/25/08 9:10am Irwin:

Lonnie: I don't have the patience to write a KoZ sequel. Will your friend write it for me? Will you? Any takers?
 Tue. 3/25/08 9:12am Negator:

Irwin, Did you hear Rupture show on Fri. last week? Had a Canadian DJ remixing a bunch of Sooca. Sounded terrific!
 Tue. 3/25/08 9:13am Negator:

Socca, I mean.
 Tue. 3/25/08 9:15am GUMBY:

That Intersection piece was way out, like the Land of the Giants theme, but trippier. Nice set.
 Tue. 3/25/08 9:15am Parq:

Ol' Pal, what a delightful surprise! Looking forward to freeform virtuosity this AM.
 Tue. 3/25/08 9:20am Negator:

Ghislain Poirier is the DJ's name and Rupture's show is on Wed. If you didn't listen to this show you might appreciate this guy. I know how much you love Socca. I do too. Because I listened to your show...
 Tue. 3/25/08 9:23am Parq:

Let's not forget to mention Rupture's blog, negrophonic.com. Essential stuff for any truffle-snuffler.
 Tue. 3/25/08 9:24am Negator:

Like that Intersection stuff ALOT! I'll be looking into that. THanks, Irwin.
 Tue. 3/25/08 9:34am pamela:

Wow, Tom Jones is burnin' down the house... Great!
 Tue. 3/25/08 9:35am GUMBY:

Tom Jones & the Cardigans? And I thought that Intersection was trippy.
 Tue. 3/25/08 9:36am JJZ:

Yeah, this is probably the best bit on that Tom Jones Reload CD.
 Tue. 3/25/08 9:41am Negator:

Kenny G is insane! I hope you guys can get that line-up together. I miss the transitions between you two guys. Funny stuff...
 Tue. 3/25/08 9:42am Charles:

Happy to hear you again, Irwin. I'm looking forward to the restoration of the Ken-Irwin-Kenny Wednesday combo. I've been listening for over 8 years, and you're my gateway DJ from back in the days of Incorrect Music. Thanks for the great radio.
 Tue. 3/25/08 9:51am jonathan:

hell yes, terry reid! i have this on a mojo comp. such a fucking great guitar line!
 Tue. 3/25/08 9:53am efd:

I thought I caught a wiff of petchouli.
 Tue. 3/25/08 10:08am doron:

 Tue. 3/25/08 10:08am Cecile:

I like T. Reid not matter if he's a hippy or not.

This Jeremy Wallace guy took his beefheart pills this AM.

 Tue. 3/25/08 10:13am Cecile:

Michael Anthony - the secret weapon of VH!
 Tue. 3/25/08 10:15am Cecile:

Irwin, how do you feel about The Darkness? Their goofiness is cousins with what you are playing...
 Tue. 3/25/08 10:15am Bad Ronald:

Nick Lowe RULES!!!!
 Tue. 3/25/08 10:17am Midwest Trish:

Great set Irwin! Love the instrumental Lowe. (His singing has always annoyed me, so this works perfectly!)
 Tue. 3/25/08 10:24am Rob W:

Irwin - I don't know of any cds by Kepa Junkera (the wonderful Basque accordionist now playing) in the FMU library. Is this your own disc, or is it in the library?somewhere? Just wondering, for future reference... - Rob W
 Tue. 3/25/08 10:27am Kathy C:

What a great surprise to hear you this morning. When is the complete video from the Marathon Finale going to be posted? Gold Ken? Drumming Irwin? Loved your Tower of Song!
 Tue. 3/25/08 10:27am Irwin:

Rob: A friend's disc, she burned me a few tracks. Nice stuff. Stand by while I mangle the pronunciation during back-announce.
Tue. 3/25/08 10:33am crazy eyes killah (otis):

 Tue. 3/25/08 10:36am Pamela:

Oh, I so miss John Prine - I had cassette tapes from him. Gotta go get some of his music.
 Tue. 3/25/08 10:37am Pamela:

Speaking of which, can anyone recommend how I can get old cassette tapes into either CD or MP3 format? Best way?
 Tue. 3/25/08 10:39am carol:

Hi Otis. I was sleeping too. But it's not half over yet. He's playing hippie music.
 Tue. 3/25/08 10:40am Laurie:

I approve of this Björk thing.
 Tue. 3/25/08 10:41am Laurie:

hey Irwin: good to hear you doing another great guest spot....you are the new Bob W - the go-to fill-in guy which is good news for WFMU listeners because now they will hear more of you than even if you had a regular show.....you just don't know when/where you're gonna pop up & play songs in the Key of Z
 Tue. 3/25/08 10:45am otis:

irwin you are such a hippie
 Tue. 3/25/08 10:45am Negator:

 Tue. 3/25/08 10:46am Laurie:

Yay, I love Hanne Hukkelberg.

I loved and continue to miss your female vocalist hour from the days of yore.
 Tue. 3/25/08 10:47am Irwin:

Otis: Bong hits for Jesus and Mohammed! Peace, bro.
 Tue. 3/25/08 10:47am Rob W:

Regarding converting cassette audio into mp3s or cd tracks: There are a lot of ways... You can buy a stand-alone cd burner, that you use without a computer, and simply connect the cassette player to it and dub. You can buy a Pro Tools mbox or mbox mini and hook it up with your computer - that's kind of the more serious and precise way to do it. That gives you both the hardware you need to load audio from any source into your computer, and the software to edit it and convert to WAV files for cds or mp3 files. That's what I do but I do Pro Tools production for a living. Also I believe someone is now marketing a cassette player with USB connector to the computer for loading cassette tracks into your computer. One problem you have no matter what is slicing up the audio into individual tracks. Some programs exist to attempt to do that for you automatically, but the only really surefire and precise way to do that is manually, with a program like Pro Tools or other audio editing programs, and that takes time no matter what.
 Tue. 3/25/08 10:48am jonathan:

i just bought an i-mic. it works on either pc or mac.
about $35. it allows you to hook up your turn table, cassette player, 4 track etc. to your computer.
 Tue. 3/25/08 10:49am otis:

so when are we going to hear.... gulp... hannah montana?
 Tue. 3/25/08 10:50am Mickey Mephistopheles:

Pamela: Tape Deck -> Computer sound card -> your hard drive. Good software: Audacity. Better software: Adobe Audition. Good sound card: Whatcha got. Better sound card: M-Audio Audiophile 192 or 2496.

Irwin: Hi!
 Tue. 3/25/08 10:50am Rob W:

Correction on my cassette-to-mp3/cd comment: I should have said "stand-alone cd RECORDER" rather than "burner." For instance the Sony RCD-W500C is a widely available consumer model, though I can' t vouch for it.
 Tue. 3/25/08 10:51am Cecile:

I like that you like Lee Morgan so much.
Tue. 3/25/08 10:53am Marty from Chico:

"Drive on Driver" could have been a Kenny Rogers song in another life!
 Tue. 3/25/08 10:53am otis:

i agree with cecile. you could play a whole 3 hours of lee morgan. great music to work with and my toes are tappin.
 Tue. 3/25/08 10:54am GUMBY:

Love the Lee Morgan. I saw a picture of him from Francis Wolfe at Blue Note and Lee had a bandana. Does that make him a hippie?
 Tue. 3/25/08 10:59am Cecile:

Yes. A total hippie.

Irwin, ITA. we should have 179 minutes of Lee Morgan next time.
 Tue. 3/25/08 11:04am otis:

i thought you'd have hannah montana's work on a usb drive connected to your key chain for fast listening at any given moment. i am now convinced you are a hippie. i'm calling crazy eyes killah, he wants his jersey back.
 Tue. 3/25/08 11:04am Pat:

First-time listener from Columbus, Ohio. Enjoying the show.
 Tue. 3/25/08 11:06am Laurie:

Hanna Montana thinks Jesus rocks: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rb_HXgPlgEs
 Tue. 3/25/08 11:06am Laurie:

For the record, I think Raptor Jesus rocks.
 Tue. 3/25/08 11:09am Pamela:

 Tue. 3/25/08 11:09am carol:

If it comes from a Putumayo cd, I think that makes it hippie music.
 Tue. 3/25/08 11:10am Irwin:

In tribute to Hatch, we are all honorary hippies today. Go Obama, the New Messiah!
 Tue. 3/25/08 11:11am Midwest Trish:

Bong hits for Obama!
 Tue. 3/25/08 11:11am Cecile:

Carol: double hippie points if you bought it at a store that has rocks that say "love" on them, and bags woven of the hair of organic unicorns and faeries.
 Tue. 3/25/08 11:11am Negator:

Is this Del Shannon w/ Jeff Lynne?
 Tue. 3/25/08 11:13am nh_dave:

Was just going to ask the same ELO themed question.
 Tue. 3/25/08 11:14am Hugh C:

Excelsior!, you fathead! Great to hear you on the air again!
 Tue. 3/25/08 11:15am spaniel:

oh jeeze. i love this song James song, hadn't heard it in ages. was singing it the other day. "dress me up in women's cloths, mess around with gender roles, line my eyes an call me pretty!"
 Tue. 3/25/08 11:16am DeemerDave_NH:

I have always hated "Laid". Depraved.
 Tue. 3/25/08 11:18am carol:

I think Irwin shops there weekly.
 Tue. 3/25/08 11:19am Cecile:

LOL! He should be able to redeem his hippie points for an incense burner or something, then.
 Tue. 3/25/08 11:21am aharon:

Musical alchemy! Gives this Tuesday morning a Saturday afternoon feel. The perfect way to hide genteely from the day.
 Tue. 3/25/08 11:22am Mickey Mephistopheles:

Hooray! The Mother Truckers! Caught them at SXSW. That's one world-class singer they've got there!
 Tue. 3/25/08 11:25am carol:

TMTs. That's my kind of music. I love Austin! Never been there, but I love it. Irwin, have you heard Lou Ann Barton?
 Tue. 3/25/08 11:27am Midwest Trish:

I gather Joe is in the studio...
 Tue. 3/25/08 11:28am Midwest Trish:

Go B-Rock!
 Tue. 3/25/08 11:30am DeemerDave_NH:

I can never hear enough Cake. Thanks, Irwin!
 Tue. 3/25/08 11:31am Laurie:

Oh god. The video for this song gave me nightmares.
 Tue. 3/25/08 11:32am Cecile:

I want Martha Wash to crush them right now.
 Tue. 3/25/08 11:33am sahak:

McCain bites eh?
 Tue. 3/25/08 11:33am Midwest Trish:

Songs like this are why sometimes singing is best left to the professionals. Oy.
 Tue. 3/25/08 11:34am dei xhrist:

This Raining McCain will guarantee more votes for anyone but McCain.
 Tue. 3/25/08 11:35am Parq:

I got through about 15 seconds of the video before I lost interest. Thanks, Ol' Pal, for making sure I got the complete experience. I will add that I think the one on scren-right with the long hair is hot.
 Tue. 3/25/08 11:35am Sean Daily:

That John McCain song was ALMOST as good as Waskey Elwood Walls, Jr.'s "Jimmy Carter Says Yes".
Tue. 3/25/08 11:41am otis the fod:

robert kornelsen ... best thing i've heard all week
 Tue. 3/25/08 11:42am sadie:

 Tue. 3/25/08 11:43am Mickey Mephistopheles:

 Tue. 3/25/08 11:45am batgirl:

 Tue. 3/25/08 11:47am Rhino:

batgirl is just angling for an on-air shout out
 Tue. 3/25/08 11:47am Parq:

Irwin, I feel exactly as you do about "My Way". Give it hell. Or heaven, as the case may be.
 Tue. 3/25/08 11:48am Brian C.:

Irving! It's always a pleasure.
(sorry, couldn't resist).
But it really is a pleasure, honest.
 Tue. 3/25/08 11:51am BillyJam:

Irwin - in answer to your (show title) question: "Is Better Beatlemania over already?" - No, but it will be by Friday afternoon after I interview on phone Jay Rosen @ 4PM -one of the founders of the group on WFMU
 Tue. 3/25/08 11:59am Elias:

All of my thoughts regarding madonna were encapsulated in that song. Excelsior!
