Yay, Irwin! Out with Bush bashing, time for 'BAMA-BASHING!

Oh, and... Second comment! Woo hoo!

Wed. 1/21/09 3:16pm From: AnAnonymousParty

Didn't Lee Morgan do another piece called "Oh no you didn't, oh yes I did"?

Wed. 1/21/09 3:18pm From: Nick the Bard

Well my throats dead for the day...

Wed. 1/21/09 3:20pm From: phillip360

Wed. 1/21/09 3:22pm From: Cecile

I'm just a music listener, I don't know nothing 'bout birthin' no babies or politimacal stuff or whatnot. Just like Mr. Pomeroy!

Wed. 1/21/09 3:22pm From: Keili's Beastin' Mama

I called the studio to tell Nick T Bard that he scared the crap out of Johnny Cash. But someone hung up on me.

Wed. 1/21/09 3:24pm From: Parq

Okay, I admit it - I don't believe in America, and nether do the other Obama voters. There, I said it. Glad to have it out in the open.

Wed. 1/21/09 3:26pm From: The Momager

Anyone who would scare Johnny Cash doesn't believe in America! Johnny Cash IS America! America IS Johnny Cash!

Wed. 1/21/09 3:28pm From: jan

Well, Irwin, I can see that you haven't paid any heed to our president's exhortations to "put away childish things."

Wed. 1/21/09 3:29pm From: Cecile

I'll bet dollars to donuts that President Barry still has his Spiderman comix.

Wed. 1/21/09 3:31pm From: GP

This sounds great in headphones...

Wed. 1/21/09 3:31pm From: Nick the Bard

He's IN a Spiderman comic, never mind having them all.

Wed. 1/21/09 3:32pm From: Nick the Bard

Johnny Cash died on the same day as John Ritter, and tha'ts sad, so, um, yay I scared a dead man.

Wed. 1/21/09 3:32pm From: jan

if he still has his comics, now is the time for him to post them on ebay.

Wed. 1/21/09 3:33pm From: Lisa

More scary to me is the fact that you have that information floating around in your head! xo

Wed. 1/21/09 3:34pm From: christiaan

thanks for playing my mix irwin. gotta go back to work, but will listen to the rest of the show later thru the archive. hope nick's voice returns soon.

Wed. 1/21/09 3:37pm From: AnAnonymousParty

If Danielle would just behave she might be able to soak up the sun.

Wed. 1/21/09 3:39pm From: Cecile

till the sun comes up on Santa Monica Boulevard.

Wed. 1/21/09 3:39pm From: north guinea hills

i can sometimes read poetry, but i sure as hell can't listen to it, even if it's good.

Wed. 1/21/09 3:41pm From: Carmichael

Hello Irwin and everyone,

This song is very pleasant, in a non-threatening way.

Wed. 1/21/09 3:46pm From: Laura L

Maybe you can't read poetry, Irwin, but Gordon sure can--his recitation explored the depths of NOT in such a way that it was clear the soul of a poet lurks in that young man!

Wed. 1/21/09 3:47pm From: Parq

Anything from Pushbutton Parfait is always welcome. I love the zither sting that introduces the bridge in this track.

Wed. 1/21/09 3:48pm From: Irwin

I suspect Gordon and Nick the Bard are the same person. Do you have the same suspicion, Laura?

Wed. 1/21/09 3:48pm From: AnAnonymousParty

Very nice treatment of Tobacco Auctioneer.

Wed. 1/21/09 3:50pm From: anon

Gordon and Nick the bard, the same? Howabout the codger and Gordon? more likely they are the same.

Wed. 1/21/09 3:50pm From: jan

I'm lovin this Scott piece- didn't know it. thanks Irwin

Wed. 1/21/09 3:54pm From: Cecile

ha, ha, the hold steady made a reference to "Breaking Away"

Wed. 1/21/09 3:54pm From: AnAnonymousParty

Although Mr. Scott was not comfortable with people taking liberties with his arrangements, I don't think he'd have much good to say about the Orchestrette?

Wed. 1/21/09 3:56pm From: Laura L

Nah, Nick and Gordon are different poets who march to the beat of a different drummer, or rather two different drummers. I think The Old Codger could teach young Gordon a thing or two--they should get together over a rum!

Wed. 1/21/09 4:00pm From: Sean Daily

Irwin: First Ctrl-Shift-Colon, then type the letter that you want to have the umlaut

Wed. 1/21/09 4:00pm From: GP

Irwin..what is that you have going in the background..right now. Thanks

Wed. 1/21/09 4:01pm From: Cecile

I saw the Hold Steady as Lifter Puller. Craig Finn is great live.
I always think he sounds like a cross of Mark E. Smith and Neil Diamond.
I don't like all their stuff, but they're kind of interesting.

Wed. 1/21/09 4:03pm From: AnAnonymousParty

The best part of the MtK version is when he trips and falls on the keyboaed at the end.

Wed. 1/21/09 4:03pm From: Parq

GP, that's an instrumental from Conershop's "When I Was Born for the Seventh Time".

Wed. 1/21/09 4:03pm From: Sean Daily

If that doesn't work, then go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Character Map, which is like Key Caps on a Mac.

If you don't see All Programs, just go straight to Accessories.

Wed. 1/21/09 4:03pm From: Laura L

You were right, of course. Fantastisch Mackie Messer!

Wed. 1/21/09 4:08pm From: An impeccably dressed gentleman

Something from the Care Bears would even things out rather nicely.

Wed. 1/21/09 4:08pm From: AnAnonymousParty

Check out chicken?

Wed. 1/21/09 4:09pm From: Cecile

Is this Hitmen band from Australia?

Wed. 1/21/09 4:11pm From: Irwin

Thänks for the ädvice. Äpplied.

Wed. 1/21/09 4:11pm From: Carmichael

Overmodulated pop. Very nice ....

Wed. 1/21/09 4:12pm From: GP

Parq..thank you. I have heard that before, in fact I think I have that CD somewhere, but just could not place it...

Wed. 1/21/09 4:20pm From: Cärmichael

Älright!

Wed. 1/21/09 4:24pm From: thomas

That Lollipop Train song was fantastic. Thanks!

Wed. 1/21/09 4:25pm From: Sean Daily

You know, I'm afraid that when they hook Andy's brain up to that EEG, they won't find anything.

Thank you, ladies and gentlemen. I'll be here all week. Try the meatloaf and don't forget to tip your waitress.

Wed. 1/21/09 4:26pm From: Brian Haselden

(private) Hello Irwin. I will find myself in KC tomorrow with some time to kill. Is there any Raymond Scott ephemera for me to view at UMKC? Happy belated New Year, BTW.

Wed. 1/21/09 4:30pm From: Ace of ♠

Ümlauts rule!

Wed. 1/21/09 4:33pm From: ali

Wed. 1/21/09 4:34pm From: Melody Fair

What the hell is that supposed to mean?

Wed. 1/21/09 4:36pm From: Lee

Wed. 1/21/09 4:37pm From: ÄnÄnonymousPärty

Looks like Ringo Angel isn't the only one who knows how to put broads down, eh?

Wed. 1/21/09 4:37pm From: Carmichael

Good God, make it stop.

Wed. 1/21/09 4:37pm From: GP

This Songsmith gadget is creepily good. Wait for the novelty whistle in this one...its killer.

Wed. 1/21/09 4:38pm From: JJZ

There's a good Songsmith version of Roxanne, I think it was.

Wed. 1/21/09 4:38pm From: AnAnonymousParty

"More fun than a barrel of David Lee Roths!"

Wed. 1/21/09 4:40pm From: GP

I heard that DLR is now a paramedic with the NYFD or something like that, or he trained to be a paramedic with them, or he once rode in one of their ambulances, or ...what is the real story New York?

Wed. 1/21/09 4:44pm From: Glenn L

He was an Emergency medical technician in NYC for a few years. Seriously. Not sure what he's up to now.

Wed. 1/21/09 4:47pm From: AnAnonymousParty

Ye Gods, DLR as a EMT? Can you imagine regaining conciousness after who knows what only to find him squatting over you holding the De-fib paddles?

Wed. 1/21/09 4:51pm From: Glenn L

Yes but I'd have to imagine that, just like in VH,
he'd have lots and lots of available "painkillers" on him.

Wed. 1/21/09 4:52pm From: GP

I remember reading somewhere that possibly his dad was a doctor, and he wanted to go to medical school but got caught up in the band...so he decided that he still wanted to help people after and learn about medicine. I think the paramedic / EMT lifestyle fits more with his gonzo lifestyle than being a doctor.

Wed. 1/21/09 4:53pm From: AnAnonymousParty

Maybe we'll see DLR in a cameo or ER or House?

Wed. 1/21/09 4:54pm From: Glenn L

Absolutely, GP! Agreed.

Wed. 1/21/09 4:55pm From: Parq

WOOSHIE!

Wed. 1/21/09 4:55pm From: AnAnonymousParty

Hey Irwin, can you put Mark Kennis (Heart of the Heartland) through the Songsmith?

Wed. 1/21/09 4:56pm From: Mike

Wooshie has Johnny Mathis quality to his voice.

Wed. 1/21/09 4:57pm From: Cecile

Oh, believe me, wooshie, the good is gone. Way gone.

Wed. 1/21/09 4:57pm From: Laura L

Never again! Until the next time! Wooshie! Any chance you unearthed Constance Mallis whilst crawling through the IM archives?

Wed. 1/21/09 4:58pm From: Wooshie

"Tenk you veddy nuch"

Wed. 1/21/09 5:02pm From: whiskey tango foxtrot

wow. I'm a fan of wooshie. He wants it so badly! you can't fake passion like that.

Wed. 1/21/09 5:03pm From: Carmichael

Wooshie followed by the Vogues. Why can't I ever think of brilliant segues like that?!?

Wed. 1/21/09 5:16pm From: Carmichael

I still watch my VHS copy of the Captain on SNL, where he performed "Ashtray Heart" and played the clarinet. Shocking to a teenage immigrant.

Wed. 1/21/09 5:18pm From: Sean Daily

Corn weenie? Oops, wrong show...

Wed. 1/21/09 5:20pm From: AnAnonymousParty

I have hay fever. I swear. Ah-choo ... ooh!

Wed. 1/21/09 5:21pm From: GP

I'm freaking sneezing my face off , right here, right now! Crazy.

Wed. 1/21/09 5:23pm From: Sean Daily

Um, WHO says life is sweeter through the telephoto lens of fame? Who is this unidentified "they"? Are they the same bastards that keep killing off Kenny?

Wed. 1/21/09 5:23pm From: Cecile

This Miranda Lambert song is the exact reason why I don't live in a small town anymore.

Funny song.

Wed. 1/21/09 5:24pm From: Gp

I luv this Miranda Lambert song! Gets my feet a dancin

Wed. 1/21/09 5:25pm From: Carmichael

My thumbs are in my belt.

Wed. 1/21/09 5:38pm From: Irwin

On a notepad on the desktop is written "umlaut orgy." Hmmmm ... New name for the program?

Wed. 1/21/09 5:43pm From: Sean Daily

Or a good name for a band.

Wed. 1/21/09 5:43pm From: AnAnonymousParty
