  7:26pm

CB's Used Furniture Emporium:

A blogger wrote about the emporium today. There was one embarrassing typo. Instead of designer Harvey Probber, she wrote Harry Probber. HARRY PROBBER! Yikes! Laughed for an hour.
  7:45pm
Jeff M:

Love the sound of that Kitty, Daisy & Lewis production.
  7:46pm

  7:51pm
Jeff M:

Trying to come down from today's coffee mania. Perhaps this calvados will help... mmm.

It was all in the name of culino-beverageary science! Yesterday I installed an aftermarket PID controller kit in my Rancilio Silvia, and today I've been pulling and tasting (and pulling and tasting) experimental ristrettos, trying to converge on an optimal temperature setpoint and grind combination. I suffer so for my art.
  7:51pm
jbird:

slugluv1313:

hi Monica! loving the whole show but ESPECIALLY this here "Music for 40 Typewriters" as i feel like i am doing that myself, albeit on computer keyboard (applying for jobs, sending out resumes, typing cover letters, etc.) . . . !
  7:54pm
Jeff M:

jbird has the right idea -- I betcha a table or console radio filled with glowing thermionic valves is just the right way to listen to this show.
  7:55pm
texas scott:

That Allan Sherman was terrific.
  8:00pm
rachel jansen:

Mina - La Calma

http://snipurl.com/minalacalma
  8:10pm
sugarwolf:

I think I have a Mina record... oh hey, I do!!
  8:13pm
Jeff M:

For those who find themselves inclined to follow Monica's suggestion and peep the dramatic look of the artist Mina via a google image search: it appears that "Mina" must be a popular porn name. It's of course up to the potential googler whether this counts as an incentive or disincentive.
  8:15pm
texas scott:

that Cliff dude sounds like Jimminy Cricket !
  8:19pm
CB1:

Tex,

He WAS Jiminy Cricket! Honest.
  8:21pm
Jeff M:

Since I'm disqualified by gender from being a drag king (unless you get into a whole crazy double-reverse-twist), I'll take "bev king"!

Fabu musical journey, as we've come to expect. We're spoiled.
  8:23pm
texas scott:

Monica...is CB1 correct ??
  8:26pm
knowitall@internets.com:

Cliff Edwards (June 14, 1895 – July 17, 1971), also known as "Ukelele Ike", was an American singer and musician who enjoyed considerable popularity in the 1920s and early 1930s, specializing in jazzy renditions of pop standards and novelty tunes. He had a number one hit with "Singin' in the Rain" in 1929. He also did voices for animated cartoons later in his career, and is best known as the voice of Jiminy Cricket in Walt Disney's Pinocchio (1940).

(Wikipedia)
  8:27pm
Cliff:

It's true!!! Walt Disney himself dragged me out of retirement to play an insect - and secure my fame.
  8:29pm
monica:

T'Scott, CB1 is ALWAYS right, don't you know?...
  8:30pm
MM:

Great show! What record is that awesome Dearraindrop track from?

  8:42pm
Joy:

Thanks Monica,
listening for the first time, love it! If you like Mina, you'll probably dig Adriano Celentano, they did some songs together, musical genius spanning decades of Italian pop!
  8:43pm
monica:

hi joy, YES, love him too!! they were both quite major in Italy in 60s/70s, no?
  8:44pm
Steve:

If you can get Dave Mandle back on the air I'll throw fate to the wind with a $75 pledge this next Wednesday. I still plan to pledge though.
  8:45pm
?:

thats right, he's still around and still major, not sure what she's up to!...
  8:46pm
Joy:

Also, Fred Buscaglione, older, major inspiration for Celentano, very funny, check him out!
  8:48pm
Windy City:

blujacket:

monica beautiful show. where is the alasdair roberts' track from? can't find "coral and tea" anywhere.
  12:36am
Zamboni:

What is the song that played right after New York and during your little recap? It's not listed but I loved it!
  1:36pm
Ronzoni Sonobuoni:

Re: Zamboni's question about the bed music -
Is it from "Seven Beauties," or some other Lina Wertmuller movie/Enzo Jannacci song?
  6:54pm
monica:

hi zamboni and Ronzoni Sonobuoni. the bed music, of late, is two tracks from spanish producer/artist mastretta's self-titled 2002 album on minty fresh. the tracks are "white sheets, tight bed" and "latin lover." easy to find.
  10:34pm
Ronzi:

And a perfect accompaniment - Any meal is better with Mastretta - Thanks Monica!
