Wed. 6/2/10 3:07pm north guinea hills:

For some reason, I like Herbie Mann.... (have a few LPs)
  Wed. 6/2/10 3:08pm Parq:

Was anyone else in Boston in the winter of 78-79? And listening to BCN? If so, you probably also remember this Herbie Mann tune well.
Wed. 6/2/10 3:09pm Dead Corporate Eyes:

ngh, because he's funky, probably.
  Wed. 6/2/10 3:10pm Looms:

Hey Irwin! You forgot to put the picture of the week online!
  Wed. 6/2/10 3:12pm Laura L:

Memphis Underground is a song on which I have a few times put the needle (so to speak) back to the beginning as soon as it concluded.
  Wed. 6/2/10 3:12pm Savory c:

this herbie is perfection, danke
  Wed. 6/2/10 3:13pm Laura L:

  Wed. 6/2/10 3:33pm v k:

  Wed. 6/2/10 3:36pm Irwin:

david was so hot you needed protective clothing
  Wed. 6/2/10 3:38pm fishmonkeystew:

I saw D. Byrne play last year in Northampton, MA. He played a full set of music produced by Brian Eno, including many Talking Heads songs. It was unbelievable!
  Wed. 6/2/10 3:38pm Looms:

Oh V K, i was far too young when the TH worked together to see them live. One of my biggest musical regrets, but great dvds are available, especially Live In Rome and Stop Making Sense.
Wed. 6/2/10 3:40pm Dead Corporate Eyes:

oh this is FUN!
  Wed. 6/2/10 3:41pm Savory c:

Talking Heads 1984 outddor summer show at the old forest hills tennis stadium queens NY.
was just great with the full moon and the lights off..
  Wed. 6/2/10 3:41pm Laura L:

The Bran Flakes know you can't be too young for perversion for profit!
  Wed. 6/2/10 3:42pm v k:

seen 'stop making sense' but assumed it wasn't representative given that it was a 'movie concert' type thing shot over 3 nights; will def seek out 'live in rome'; thanks for tip
  Wed. 6/2/10 3:44pm Parq:

Saw Heads when they were touring to support Remain in Light, approx summer 1979, for what turned out to be the last performance of the quartet. A year later, they introduced their large Afro-influenced combo, and I really wasn't sure what to make of it. Really was something to see, though.
  Wed. 6/2/10 3:44pm Looms:

You can find many excerpts from Live In Rome on YouTube.
  Wed. 6/2/10 3:45pm Looms:

Irwin, your musical selection rocks today!

Wed. 6/2/10 3:54pm Dead Corporate Eyes:

that's bad parenting. if you give in they'll want MORE.
  Wed. 6/2/10 3:55pm jan:

Should they have changed the name of Irving Plaza to the Filmore East and then Change it back again? These things weigh upon my mind at night.
Wed. 6/2/10 3:57pm some kid who gave up the carrot routine:

I don't want anything.
Wed. 6/2/10 3:59pm Dead Corporate Eyes:

if u don't want the carrot you goin git the stick
  Wed. 6/2/10 4:00pm BWW:

  Wed. 6/2/10 4:01pm Laura L:

  Wed. 6/2/10 4:06pm Laura L:

And straight double prime marks where there should be what is referred to as "curly" quotes and vice versa!
  Wed. 6/2/10 4:09pm Laura L:

DCE, It's a funny track with a little monologue at the end, old guy with a German accent explaining how you shouldn't give a kid an ice cream, he will just want anudder one.
  Wed. 6/2/10 4:12pm Nat:

GNR - Ha!
  Wed. 6/2/10 4:12pm Dave B:

I was wondering who'd be the first to use the Swinger....
  Wed. 6/2/10 4:12pm cant speel:

either this is going to be funny or this is funny
Wed. 6/2/10 4:13pm Dead Corporate Eyes:

it's NOT funny. this song sucks in every permutation.
  Wed. 6/2/10 4:14pm cant speel:

  Wed. 6/2/10 4:14pm HelveticaNude:

  Wed. 6/2/10 4:15pm Looms:

  Wed. 6/2/10 4:16pm cant speel:

holy swing. just now pulling all this in. got that carlton dance goin on..
  Wed. 6/2/10 4:16pm Elvis Presbyterian:

I have to agree with DCE on this one. Sounds too much like original-flavor GnR, which is lame-ville.
  Wed. 6/2/10 4:17pm cant speel:

saying lame-ville is lame town though
  Wed. 6/2/10 4:17pm Franklin Gothic:

Helvie, put yer clothes on!
  Wed. 6/2/10 4:18pm Dave B:

@Elvis - the python behind the tune is what's kinda neat.

Q: "The Swinger is a bit of python code that takes any song and makes it swing. It does this be taking each beat and time-stretching the first half of each beat while time-shrinking the second half."
  Wed. 6/2/10 4:21pm Dave B:

I'll shut up now...
  Wed. 6/2/10 4:22pm cant speel:

never dave b!
  Wed. 6/2/10 4:22pm jen v.:

  Wed. 6/2/10 4:24pm bryan:

It's like you can hear everything REM ever tried to do wrapped up in this one little song.
  Wed. 6/2/10 4:24pm jason:

Wed. 6/2/10 4:37pm The Log Lady:

Oh, I'm not tense, ponderosie. Life's a jar of coconut flakes! The log is a demanding log, however. I am merely it's handler.
  Wed. 6/2/10 4:41pm FCC:
