  12:10pm
Carmichael:

Hey now, Liz!
  12:14pm
Liz B.:

Hi everyone, it's good to be back!
  12:20pm
TK:

So into the new stereo total.
  12:21pm
dc pat:

this song must be a tribute to the mighty German team, right?
  12:24pm
it's because:

deutschland was lookin robotic out there
  12:26pm
dc pat:

yes, almost perfect. And how about my 1-1 US v England prediction, eh? eh? I actually predicted the German match would be 5-0, pretty pissed they couldn't make one last goal...
  12:27pm
Lizardner Dave:

Hey Liz, I'm going to be in Barcelona in about 3 weeks..any can't miss eating spots or other stuff that may not be covered in the standard tourist literature?
  12:29pm
Liz B.:

Hey Lizardner Dave, drop me an email (lizb at wfmu dot org) and I'll sned you some food recs! So much to eat in BCN!
  12:31pm
Carmichael:

Pat, you've got the Magic 8-Ball thing going pretty well. What'll be the US score this Friday?

I went to the San Jose Earthquakes/Chivas USA match on Saturday night. It was great, but just not the same thing.
  12:33pm
Dan:

Good afternoon, Liz.
  12:33pm
Lizardner Dave:

Done. Thanks Liz!
  12:34pm
dc pat:

Carm: 1-0, USA...better be anyway...
  12:35pm
Magic 8-Ball:

It is decidedly so.
  12:48pm
dc pat:

one of my fave Devo tunes. hanx!
  12:49pm
listener james from westwood:

Nice timing. I wrote the last and final paragraph of an article just as "Beautiful World" started. (And the article's about how doctors play music on the side!)
  12:50pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

Devo is fun.
  12:50pm
stefan:

Hi Liz, nice song by Stereo Total can't wait to get the new CD, but very rude, I am not sure if you know what "Du bist gut zu (V)voegeln" means? As a native German I try to explain: One meaning is that he or she treats birds very kind, that's with a capital V, but second meaninig, small v, is that this person is easy or good to f**k, funny he.
all the best stefan
  12:56pm
dc pat:

Nice timing on this one too--just read some stuff about the Cambodian "Jungle Woman", strange.
  12:56pm
Liz B.:

Ha ha, thanks Stefan!!
  1:00pm
newsjoe:

Thanks for the Devo, Liz. Totally improved my work day :).
  1:07pm
Dan:

Liz, is that These Boots Are Made for Walking playing on the background?
  1:08pm
dc pat:

what commercial??
  1:13pm
Liz B.:

I think it was a cover version of the song that appeared on an ad for a Comedy Central show.
  1:14pm
newsjoe:

Beautiful World was on a Target commercial too haha
  1:15pm
Liz B.:

Oh yeah, I remember the Target ad, too!
  1:16pm
it's because:

target and devo.. their values clearly aligned..
  1:17pm
dc pat:

huh. A little surprised that Gerald V allowed that to happen. I guess everyone needs money.
  1:17pm
Liz B.:

Mothersbaugh wrote a ton of jingles, etc for ads.
  1:18pm
newsjoe:

I figure they had a sense of humor about it. At the end of the day the joke's on Target if they don't get the satire/sarcasm in that song.
  1:23pm
it's because:

and akron's still proud ..
  1:29pm
dc pat:

Isn't this Naked on the Vague tune in a Target commercial too??
  1:37pm
dc pat:

jeeze PRofA still freak me out.
  1:53pm
it's because:

  2:00pm
BSI:

  2:02pm
it's because:

noted
  2:05pm
BSI:

...which is why I'm not a successful party planner or marriage counsellor, clearly...
  2:09pm
it's because:

ha, fair.. it's lookin like this thing is gunna be full of joao and old hawaiian music..
  2:12pm
BSI:

We attended a friend's wedding party recently, the iPod playlist provided was mainly classic dub & bollywood. The effect was killer.
  2:17pm
it's because:

good information.. some promising leads.
  2:19pm
Looms:

Enjoying the broadcast. Thanks Liz!
  2:23pm
BSI:

HAHA, even now I can't hear Wicked Game without flashing on that AMAZING cover that was getting a lot of play 2 marathons ago... small female vocal that would go batshit crazy screaming for the chorus.......... who WAS that, anyway?
  2:24pm
Liz B.:

Me, too, BSI!! The cover was by Les Reines Prochaines.
  2:28pm
still b/p:

Missed Souleyman during a sandwich moment...
but every time he or Tinariwen makes a playlist appearance, I'll grab the chance to wail and gnash about having to miss their upcoming NY show in the park. Its a cold unfair universe.
  2:32pm
to stilll:

Souleyman rocks
  2:42pm
dc pat:

  2:42pm
Chris frm DC:

Where can I get this Wire, it's freaking great.
  2:44pm

Chris, there is no info on the record, unfortunately! It has no label listed, probably means it's some sort of bootleg, but there is album art...
  2:45pm
