"Ping, zang, zip! Deflecting bullets with the power of his rocking."
  6:43am

  6:50am
Dave B.:

Well, thanks for bringing some good weather Meghan. Slept with all the windows open last night, and now have the chirp chirp of birds out side.

Lets hope Puxatawney Phil was right!
  6:51am
Meghan:

It's cause it's so dated..... and memories... but all in all, you are totally singing along!
  6:51am
Chuck:

  6:52am
Meghan:

  6:53am
Plexipixel:

no way! Severed Heads!!
  6:54am
Chuck:

The Price Chopper up here carries them frequently, thank goodness!
  6:56am
Dave B.:

@Chuck - Fleisher's in Kingstown probably does to.

That place ROCKS! And with a butcher named Fleisher, its GOT to be good!
  6:56am
Elwyn:

Happy birthday Meghan!

Hello Everyone!

@Meghan: Will you be drinking on air once you hit 21 in your biological chronical playlist?
@Dave: Can't believe you got here first after burning the midnight oil!
  6:56am
Chuck:

Asian ingredients are still illusive unfortunately... *sigh*
  6:59am
Chuck:

Hehe... Thanks for the heads up, Dave. I'll see what they've got next time I'm up that way...
  7:01am
Andy in Berlin:

Hey Happy Birthday Meghan! A grey day here in Berlin so I'm a bit jealous.
  7:01am
Elwyn:

Going to studio = feels like graduating? :-)
  7:02am
Dave B.:

@Elwyn - Sleep is for the week!
@Chuck - for a few grand they offer a butcher course "From Pig to Pork" and you keep what you cut.

@Meghan/Elwyn - I want that Osciliscope!!!!
  7:02am
Dave B.:

heheh week = weak. My mind is going.... I can feel it.
  7:04am
Chuck:

Meh, don't need a course, Dave. I've already done it with deer. It's kind of like an anatomy lesson...
  7:06am
Elwyn:

Oops. I meant:
Going to studio ***A*** = feels like graduating?

Mmmm.... MEAT!
  7:06am
Dave B.:

Oh - is DoM out there? I've gathered the reset of Richard Cheese's discography. I'll put up where you can get it Meghan, after I clear the rest...
  7:06am
Meghan:

Morning Elwyn! Just a little... it's just nice to spread out!
  7:07am
Chuck:

That is a messy anatomy lesson. Deer don't come pre-gutted...
  7:10am
Elwyn:

@Chuck: I bet it also doesn't come battered in breadcrumbs or with a German beer. I guess that's why those German and Australian restaurants are so yummy but expensive!
  7:11am
messika:

happy birthday woman!
  7:11am
Meghan:

Thanks beeotch!
  7:12am
Chuck:

Hehe.. Right, Elwyn! But it only costs me patience and a bullet...
  7:13am
Elwyn:

@Chuck: I'm so glad I'm eating dinner at this moment.
I've never shot a real gun. :-(
  7:13am
Chuck:

I also get to know that the meat is 100% fresh!
  7:14am
Dave B.:

mmmmmm meat.

Delicious meat.
  7:14am
catpatz:

happy b day meghan!
  7:15am
Meghan:

Thanks Catpatz!
  7:17am
Chuck:

Oh yeah, DB! Grilled venison tenderloin with cherry/goat cheese sauce. Delectable!
  7:18am
eric:

I'm beginning to think that you really did sneak into my record collection.
  7:18am
pierre:

Seems like you were (still) listening to a lot of good stuff, as when i was young, i only remember listening to crap.
  7:18am
Chuck:

It was my understanding that firearms are illegal for average people in Australia, Elwyn. No?
  7:21am
Dave B.:

@Chuck - i think its just the drunks...
  7:23am
Chuck:

Dave, make it a point to stop by next time you're up this way. I've got a freezer full of venison...
  7:23am
Josh RVA:

Happy Birthday Meghan! Alas I must leave the office and WFMU, what I've heard since 7 has been fantastic.
  7:23am
Elwyn:

@Chuck: If I recall correctly, you need to be part of a shooter's club, part of law enforcement or have a need for it such as on a farm. Even then, you still need a license.
A LOT of things changed after the Port Arthur massacre about 10 years ago.
One thing that surprises me about the USA is that your gun lobby is so powerful that it's irrational. I know you do have restrictions but you need more.
If I recall correctly, fully automatic weapons are outlawed.
  7:24am
Meghan:

Thanks Josh!
  7:25am
maestroso:

G'morning and Happy Birthday Meghan!
Love these sets. Sugarcubes!
  7:25am
Meghan:

Awww, thanks Maestroso! Lots of fun to be had here
  7:26am
Dave B.:

@ Chuck. - danke! Will Do!
  7:26am
Chuck:

That is so, Elwyn. New York is more restrictive than other states. You need a permit for a hand gun, but anyone who doesn't have some kind of criminal conviction can get a rifle. I have several rifles.
  7:28am
Chuck:

On the other hand you can get any type of firearm (excluding fully automatics) in Texas...
  7:29am
eric:

One of my fav Sundays songs!
  7:29am
Chuck:

Oh, such a great album, Meghan! So sad The Sundays broke up after only 3 recordings....
  7:29am
Dave B.:

@Chuck - so by that logic, do you have several criminal convictions?

<ducks>
  7:30am
Meghan:

I listened to this album so much during high school.... but funny enough, didn't buy it until freshman college!
  7:31am
Chuck:

LOL, Dave! I'll never tell! I just haven't gotten to getting a hand gun permit. The paperwork is extensive...
  7:31am
Elwyn:

Was NY's tighter laws because of Giuliani's clean up on the city in the 90s?
Do average Americans really think there is a likelihood the commies will invade your homeland like in Red Dawn?

I don't think Australia will be invaded by Indonesia's Islamic fundamentalists but expect that our own armed forces and NATO's would save us.
  7:32am
hamburger:

can we request something that made you well up with tears????
  7:33am
dirty old man:

"you pocket the difference at Leachmere". Miss then every day.
  7:33am
Dave B.:

I think NY's was due to Ferguson's rampage on the LIRR back in 93
  7:33am
procedura:

nice 'upbringing', Meghan
  7:34am
Chuck:

Giuliani only had control in NYC, Elwyn. NO ONE except the police and a few select others can have firearms there. I live upstate. The rules are different.
  7:36am
Chuck:

Damn! Now I'm reminded I wanted to look for some Tribe, Meghan. It slipped my mind and I love their sound!
  7:37am
Meghan:

hmmmm, i am not sure you can Hamburger....... I can't think of anything off hand that made me do that.

Thanks Procedura! I was lucky to have an older brother with good taste and good radio!
  7:38am
Dave B.:

@ Elwyn... you've heard of fluoridation, right? Its a commie plot to infiltrate our precious bodily fluids.

That's why I drink rain water and pure grain alcohol

Purity of Essence.
  7:39am
Elwyn:

I forgot half this stuff:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun_politics_in_Australia#Firearms_categories

I forgot that semi-automatics are severely restricted.

One thing is for sure: I'd never walk around with my stormtrooper rifle in public without being in costume. In my home state, Victoria, the police had a reputation for shooting first and asking questions. It didn't end up well for people with mental illness carrying knives.

@Dave: Ha ha! It's been ages since I saw Dr Strangelove.
  7:42am
Dave B.:

while working thru the night last night and listening to HotRod's fill in I watched "Alphaville", "Pi" and a chunk of "Metropolis" before nodding off...
  7:45am
Chuck:

Cool, DB. I've got "Metropolis" on DVD...
  7:45am
dirty old man:

Dave B: Thank you for remembering the Richard Cheese.
If you ever want to hear any 50 year old records, let me know.
  7:48am
?:

Man, Boston bands I haven't heard in a long time = Faust, Mission of Burma
I used to love Faust's live shows. Super fun.
  7:49am
Chuck:

Any Godfathers in the mix today, Meg?
  7:50am
jeff p:

happy birthday, hon! can't listen in for now, have actual work to do. howdy to everyone else
  7:50am
Meghan:

you know... i pulled their record but didn't bring it with me. I am never going to get through everything I want to play
  7:51am
Meghan:

ha! Thanks Jeff P! Stupid work getting in the way!
  7:51am
Dave B.:

@Chuck - which version? I saw Alloy Orchestra perform their score a bunch years back at World Financial Center to the (then) newly restored version. And then two years ago, saw the newly unearthed edition from Argentina, with something like 20~30 minutes of lost footage.

If there is one movie I can watch over and over again, it's that.

and @DoM - bring 'em on! I'm still in the process of digitizing all the 78's I inherited from family members..... I'll provide a healthy Chees Platter for Meghan to get to ya. Maybe a few sides of sheep?
  7:51am
Chuck:

Perhaps The The then?
  7:53am
Meghan:

Oh yes they WILL be played. I was a HEAVY The The listener!
  7:53am
Elwyn:

@Chuck:
My weapon of choice:
http://i1138.photobucket.com/albums/n533/elwyn5150/Stormtrooper%20build/Rifle/7fb48c1b.jpg

doesn't even make any pew pew noises.
  7:54am
catpatz:

lawn dart
  7:56am
dirty old man:

The Fools, please
  7:56am
Chuck:

The version I have is a Kino Video, Dave. 124 minutes with the original score that it premiered with in 1927...
  7:56am
Meghan:

The Fools aren't a part of my autobiographical life then
  7:59am
eric:

Yes! The The! Totally love them. I still use Sweet Bird of Truth as a "bass check" song for stereos/speakers.
  7:59am
Chuck:

Heheh, Elwyn. I could make one of those if I had all the dimensions of each component and lots of detail photos...
  8:03am
Elwyn:

@Chuck: There are tutorials on the web.
Would you like to make me one of those big guns?
http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/DLT-19_heavy_blaster_rifle
Tutorial:
http://www.imperial-fleet.com/BBC/community/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=5
I'll pay you but not sure how to get it in the country. Well, unpainted maybe.
  8:04am
Parq:

Miss Meg, glad to know you dug O Positive. Dave Herlihy was a friend of mine from the late-70s days of WZBC. Happy birthday, b/t/w.
  8:05am
Meghan:

Thanks Parq! Yeah, O Positive was a Boston staple at the time.
  8:06am
Chuck:

I'll look into it, Elwyn! I LIVE to MAKE stuff, right Meg! I should post pics of my airplane and spacecraft models on FB. We'll worry about the shipping details later....
  8:07am
Chuck:

WooHoo! The 4AD set!
  8:09am
Nathan:

Just reminded me of my mouldering Cocteau Twins box set that I need to rip ... thanks Meghan
  8:10am
Meghan:

Oh you should never forget to rip that Nathan!
  8:12am
Elwyn:

@Meghan: My youthful listening habbits are so completely different from yours. Of course, in 1988, I was mainly listening to Australian mainstream stuff still.

@Chuck: my friends think the ones made from resin are better but I'm sure you can do better. :-)
  8:12am
Nathan:

Which further reminds me I've got that Simon Raymonde solo album as well somewhere.. I remember that being good?
  8:13am
Cheri Pi:

Love this Felt song! Feeling nostalgic now.
  8:15am
Meghan:

You know... i followed Elizabeth more than Simon, so I am not sure how the other stuff is to be honest!
  8:15am
Cheri Pi:

Just tuned in-scanning the playlist so far it looks like we had the same radio upbringing in the 80's-great stuff here-what station did you listen to?
  8:16am
Chuck:

That is the material of choice for a project of this nature, Elwyn. It will be in resin, light weight, yet strong. No promises, but it may also be possible that it makes the right noise when the trigger is pulled. I have some small experience in simple electronics as well...
No one should know what I was listening to in high school. Potentially embarrasing.....
  8:16am
Meghan:

WFNX was the station I listened to most, with some college stations in the mix (Emerson, BU and BC)
  8:18am
Cheri Pi:

For me it was KYYX& KJET(Seattle) & WOXY-Oxford, OH :)
  8:20am
Nathan:

I was a bit of a rampant fan. Don't think Elizabeth actually made up words, she just had a really thick Scottish accent which can, to the untrained ear, sound exactly like gibberish...
  8:21am
Elwyn:

@Chuck: someone in Australia sells resin kits at around $250 each and assembled for $600. Of course, he can do that because he or someone made a cast from a real MG-34 at some stage. Of course, there are a couple of guys in the USA who also sell resin kits.
  8:21am
Meghan:

I agree Nathan. You can sometimes hear what she is saying, but she drew out the words and made it very dreamy
  8:24am
Chuck:

Oh yes, The Chameleons!
Having an original would be beneficial, Elwyn, but not essential..
  8:26am
Chuck:

It's what's called "scratch building" for model makers...
  8:26am
Nathan:

Oh man... Swamp Thing is great for interpretive dancing.
  8:29am
BDR:

Sincere thanks. I haven't felt so wonderfully heartsick with flashbacks in ages.
  8:30am
Meghan:

Awww, thanks BDR. This is why this is my birthday gift to myself!
  8:31am
Elwyn:

@Chuck: I have almost finished a scratch build of a comlink but want to make it Bluetooth enabled. I can't quite finish it because of the Bluetooth.
  8:34am
Chuck:

Woh, Elwyn! You may have your neurons scrambled trying to make that work!
  8:34am
Dave B.:

here: WLIR, WRHU, WNYU, WBAU and when it would come in WSOU.

Best part of WSOU and where I lived, it used to phase in and out with I think WKRB and it offered a good mash up of Heavy Metal/Jazz... Think a nice Slayer song interjected with be-bop sax solo's at random moments... Somewhere I have some tapes from those days...
  8:36am
eric:

Might just be my favorite all time The The song! Even if the later stuff was so different from this song.
  8:37am
Chuck:

"MInd Bomb" will still be my favorite....
  8:38am
Meghan:

I played this on a constant loop..... This was the Best album
  8:38am
Cheri Pi:

Old radio tapes are the best!
  8:38am
eric:

I still play this album on a constant loop. I just listened to it over the weekend. Mind Bomb is quite awesome.
  8:39am
Elwyn:

@Chuck: http://501scg.com/forum/index.php?topic=1995.0
This has lots of pictures of what I've done and explaining my struggles.
  8:43am
Meghan:

eric, you have matt johnson's first solo the the album, right?
  8:43am
Vicki:

Burning Blue Soul
  8:45am
eric:

meghan, yes! I love that album too.
  8:45am
Meghan:

That's the one Vicki! thanks! Another one that was on constant loop for me....
  8:46am
Vicki:

me too, I still have that album
  8:47am
Vicki:

was on 4AD, released under his own name
  8:48am
Meghan:

Yep! I have that album too.... had it on cassette first, then finally found it at the record fair a while ago. More reasons why the 4AD label was amazing back then.....
  8:49am
Dave B.:

Hey Meghan - so where's BD DinDin? Didya make a decision?
  8:49am
eric:

Aren't there two versions of that album? Matt Johnson & The The versions. They aren't the same are they?
  8:49am
Chuck:

Looks to me that the biggest problem that you're having is the thick piece that you're using for the main body of the unit, Elwyn...
  8:49am
Meghan:

That last song should have Throwing Muses following it.....
  8:50am
Meghan:

Dinner is at Public. It intrigued us enough too many times!
  8:50am
Chuck:

Oh, loving it, Meg!!!
  8:50am
Vicki:

No - The The - Soul Mining - his first The The album
But the album preceding his The The encarnation was on 4AD called Burning Blue Soul. After that he was on Some Bizzare.
  8:53am
Adrian from mpls:

this is making my day! Thanks so much!!
  8:54am
Elwyn:

@Chuck: Yes! The switch for the headset is underneath all that and in the middle. It's also not a simple on/off. It's pressure sensitive.
  8:55am
Meghan:

I really really really wish i had another couple hours...... so much fun
  8:55am
Rob from Maryland:

It's been a great show. Unfortunately I've only been able to drop in occasionally.
  8:56am
Cheri Pi:

Pt 2 next week?!
  8:56am
Chuck:

Hell yes, Meghan! I could listen all day!
Elwyn, let me mull this over and see what ideas I come up with. I'll FB a message to you with my thoughts...
  8:57am
Dave B.:

Pt 2 next YEAR!

(or a "Guilty Pleasures" theme soon!
  8:58am
boop:

anyone seen rick santorum this morning?
  8:58am
eric:

Great show! Thanks!
  8:58am
Elwyn:

@Dave: Wow. You're still awake?!?!

@Chuck: Let's! I'm surprised noone told us to shut up. :-)
  8:58am
Dave B.:

there's another theme idea...the CUT theme... all the songs that get cut... Start keeping track
  8:59am
Dave B.:

@Elwyn - 4 hrs sleep is more than enough
  3:24pm
PMD:

Happy belated birthday-ish.
