  11:12am
pierre:

Hello Dave B, cool to see you hear, spreading the good doodles !
(mine was too happy, i remembered yours is tougher !)
Toulouse is one of my favourite cities in France, the "Pink City" is great !
So now you have a friend in Toulouse and in Paris ! Man you are so welcome over here !
  11:13am
Dave B:

Exactement!

J'aime Paris, mais Toulousse sonne bien aussi!
  11:13am
βrian:

Coullioure? Mmmm, that makes me thirsty. I loves me some Coullioure.
  11:16am

The last time I was in Toulouse, the markets were full of Reine Claude plums and chanterelles.
  11:16am
other david:

As a certifiable radio geek, I'm really enjoying this dialscan :)
  11:16am

  11:19am
pierre:

listeners you are sending me dreams here.
Dave you are definitively welcome, if you don't know where to crash, drink, eat, it'll be pleasure to see you. (i might see Julie this week, as she's in london).
I have a family house in the Gers, (department near Toulouse) i'm officially welcoming any wfmu listeners there. But carefull its rough tough french countryside, nothing to do appart from listening to fmu, and sleeping in hamacs, tough lives
  11:20am
Carmichael:

Hiya Liz and Lizners.
  11:21am
pierre:

Tariquet !
man, you know your wines, i specially love this one !
(by the way > Marciac Jazz Festival is not far from the Gers, so if there is any fmu listeners during the festival let me know)
  11:22am
βrian:

Pierre, Auch was the first night's stop on a bike trip I did several years ago. We were famished and had a dish of scallops with fresh pasta. And tariquet. Extase !
  11:25am
PGB:

I thought I'd use this collage to test the song identifier app I just got for my phone. Worked great: "Le Complexe du Cornflakes" by -M-. I love technology! (And this show, too!)
  11:26am
Liz B.:

Nice, PGB! Glad the song ID app works so well!
  11:27am
Dave B:

@PGB - which app are you using?
  11:27am

  11:37am
stucco toast:

cool. i used to play dialscans on my radio show too.
medium wave and short wave, plus scanner (police, fire, and cell phone), and everything else. love the subliminal frequencies.
would like to hear more foreign dialscans for earth, or whatever you got.
  11:39am
other david:

@stucco - I've done a few similar things, shortwave scans - recording broadcasters, numbers stations, planes over the atlantic and stuff - they're on archive.org under "shortwave snippets"
  11:39am
Liz B.:

Got a few dialscans from Spain on these archives:

  11:41am
pierre:

@Dave B : thanks !^^
  11:42am
Dave B:

if you haven't seen/heard "You Are Listening To New York City" kinda neat.

Live police radio scans over a bed of ambient music

  11:42am
Liz B.:

Whoa cool, thanks for the tip, Dave B!
  11:43am

aaron in chicago:

other david: it's "le brio" by big soul
  11:48am
other david:

not the europop (!) - the music madam/popular, damn my absolute dearth of french
  11:49am
other david:

aaron in chicago, thank you sir :)
  11:50am
Liz B.:

Who needs song ID apps when you have the WFMU listener comments board?! Go Aaron!
  11:50am
dc pat:

love the dialscan. great stuff.
  11:50am
aaron in chicago:

de rien !
  11:54am
PGB:

Here's how the software in the song ID app works. It captures the audio as a file, then sends it over the Internet to aaron in chicago. He responds, and the song title appears on the phone.
  11:54am
pierre:

love the dialscan x 2
(ooh les Rita Mitsouko)
  11:56am
pierre:

whoa, you've manage to find interesting stuff there Liz.
  11:57am
Dave B:

@ Liz B - what gear did you use to record these scans, and where were were they recorded? (hotel room, car etc)
  12:03pm
Liz B.:

Dave B, I used my Roland Edirol recorder and it was all from the car stereo. Nothing fancy sound-quality wise or anything.
  1:09am
ADR:

Thanks for playin the Warmer Milks 7"! you rule.
