  3:17pm
G:

@Matt: Maybe he is in the hospital recovering from an emergency ellipsisectomy.
  3:21pm
Matt from Springfield:

@G: So if we find an ellipsis in our monikers, we should get that checked out by a doctor?

@Irwin: "Shirokovsky Pallasite I & II" sounds like a Classical title--didn't expect this song to be called that.
  3:23pm
pierre:

Bonsoir everyone !
late checking in for France.
  3:23pm
wILD nEIL:

  3:29pm
Sean Daily:

You're a seething mass of seethiness, Irwin! You're a Dark Lord of the Seethe!
  3:30pm
G:

Yes, Matt, you don't want an impacted ellipsis festering in your peritoneum and exploding. 85% fatal prognosis. What did you think happened to Sean Daily, ...'s forerunner?
  3:30pm
Matt from Springfield:

@pierre: Always a pleasure!
@nEIL: Anything that makes you "wILD" then, besides those allergies?
  3:31pm
Denise from DC:

Hi, Matt! Always nice to see your posts.
  3:31pm
wILD nEIL:

I am just a wild and crazy guy!
  3:32pm
Matt from Springfield:

  3:53pm
wILD nEIL:

I heard 78s are used by the Library of Congress since they are so simple and require no complicated electronics to listen to...go figure!
  3:55pm
G:

You can play back a tracked record of any kind with a pin, if you're that desperate on some occasion. You just need to be able to revolve it at the right speed, or reasonably close.
  3:56pm
the glowing one:

@G: but not too close
  3:56pm
Dan and Joel:

Yes Irwin, there IS a Dan and Joel. After all, remember that insurance is not created from nothing. The same insurance keeps circulating around the universe, and us salesmen serve a vital link in bringing insurance-trinos out of the chaos, and into your policy.
  3:57pm
Dan and Joel:

The price? 21 dollars a month. But, keep in mind that all insurance companies are going to price that differently.
  4:01pm
Visual Analyst:

Q: From their expressions, who in the pic wants to be there the least?

A: It's a dead heat between the two black dudes in the middle. The waving guy doesn't like anyone there, and the guy next to him really doesn't like the black dude who's waving.
  4:02pm
Joel and Dan:

Why is HE always first?
  4:03pm
Dan:

Look, I'm the top, you're the bottom. We've discussed this a million fucking times.
  4:05pm
Matt from Springfield:

Insurance spokesmen always work it out.
  4:05pm
Dan:

I work it in first.
  4:06pm
Mayor Rudy G:

I note you're making fun of people who talk oddly. That'th dithgratheful.
  4:07pm
Ron Lauder:

What Rudy thaid.
  4:11pm
glenn:

good rats = guess who?
  4:12pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

sounds like a mix of maybe Golden Earring and the Guess Who!
  4:13pm
Matt from Springfield:

I'd like to be an Athronaut (cough), sorry, an Afronaut.
  4:13pm
glenn:

the new dutch / canadian rock and roll. i dig it.
  4:22pm
Matt from Springfield:

Wow, I like Saint Etienne! I'll try to remember Sara Cracknell was the singer for them.
  4:23pm
G:

Have you been misled to believe the show will be well planned in advance?
  4:24pm
Parq:

Speaking of the Mike D segment, belated thanks for that. Missed it live, but caught the archive over the weekend. He's really cool, yeah?
  4:29pm
Matt from Springfield:

Drink Me are fabulous! Folkish sound, great lyrics and rhythm (all those ways to play a single bottle for percussion!) What years were these from?
  4:36pm
Carmichael:

Drink Me are a recent band, 1st album in '93, Sleep a few years ago.
  4:45pm
glenn:

if you like this jonathan richman, i recommend corb lund and the hurtin' albertans.
  4:45pm
G:

Drink Me, albums circa 1993-95, practically a current band for those of a certain age!
  4:47pm
Carmichael:

http://www.bar-none.com/drink-me.html
  4:51pm
wILD nEIL:

In the 90's I was in my super-wild 20's....wow, that seems like yesterday, you know...
  4:51pm
chris:

Is that Mr. Bean, back row, 3rd from Left?
  4:51pm
Nat:

id love to hear this slowed to half speed
  4:52pm
Carmichael:

And Ronald Reagan, back row 3rd from right, next to blondie.
  4:52pm
chris:

And is Ron Reagan goosing the blonde in the back row on the right?
  4:53pm
G:

@chris: If so, she seems to like it.
  4:56pm
glenn:

maybe the blonde on the left is goosing the blonde on the right.
  4:57pm
Carmichael:

If anyone watches Breaking Bad, it appears Gustavo Fring is standing right next to Obama.
  5:01pm
chris:

@glenn, I like the way you think
  5:02pm
wigwamsparky:

Hi Irwin! fun fun fun :-) eva
  5:02pm
Denise from DC:

The guy in the front row, third from left, looks vaguely (very vaguely) like Clint Eastwood.
  5:02pm
Matt from Springfield:

@G: Thanks for the Drink Me info!
  5:02pm
G:

@Carmichael: "Sleep" (the second and final album) is from 1995 per allmusic.com, amazon.com listings, etc. (there's no wikipedia band page). The first/eponymous album was 1993.

The label's description page was clearly written up at the time of initial release in 1995, and is still making it sound like a new CD. No one has ever bothered to change the wording about "new" songs.
  5:03pm
obama:

a cross between clint and chandler bing
  5:04pm
Denise from DC:

I want to know who's behind Obama's hand.
  5:05pm
obama:

talk to the hand but the hand don't talk
  5:05pm
Denise from DC:

Maybe Kim Jong Il
  5:05pm
Listener Dave from Seattle:

The last track had excellent stereo separation.
  5:05pm
G:

@Denise: A guess? The Japanese premier that the first Bush puked on 20 years ago now.
  5:06pm
Denise from DC:

How pitiful is it that I can still get excited by stereo separation?
  5:07pm
Denise from DC:

G: so then Obama's trying to hold back the guy's own retaliatory puke?
  5:08pm
G:

Or the poor dude is just a pincushion for mediocre US presidents!
  5:09pm
Listener Dave from Seattle:

Unless Irwin has some crazy panning effect on everything.
  5:10pm
Matt from Springfield:

Mrs. QUAD!!!
Don't leave me with that - MANGY MUTT - to pee pee on my floor!
  5:10pm
Carmichael:

Is this re-processed for quad?
  5:11pm
The PJ Tatler:

It's Tsakhia Elbegdorj, the president of Mongolia.

http://tinyurl.com/3gzmq7b
  5:13pm
Tsakhia:

I'll mongolian BBQ that twerp's ass when I have a chance.
  5:15pm
Carmichael:

Punch him so hard he'll do some throat singing, Tsakhia!
  5:17pm
Carmichael:

  5:17pm

  5:18pm
Sean Daily:

No Doubt! Hella good, Irwin.
  5:19pm
Irwin:

  5:20pm
Matt from Springfield:

  5:20pm
Nat:

  5:23pm
wigwamsparky:

hiya! lord kitchener! yippee!
  5:23pm

  5:28pm
Matt from Springfield:

  5:37pm
glenn:

  5:37pm
Matt from Springfield:

Great mid 60s pop style sound!
  5:42pm
Carmichael:

I'm a classic, Glenn. Big fins and everything.
  5:50pm
Matt from Springfield:

Check your rain at the door, and get it back by turning in your slip when you leave.
  5:52pm
wigwamsparky:

oh yes I do make up a dance and punch an old pillow !
  5:53pm
alberto:

love fred rogers!!!
  5:53pm
Matt from Springfield:

Goes together like milk and COOKIE!!
  5:53pm
Tsakhia:

Very, very angry? How'z about seething?
  5:54pm
Matt from Springfield:

"Mrs. Quad" and "Worship Me" are both brimming with that good ol' kitchen percussion!
  5:54pm
Carmichael:

I already do, Amanda.
  5:54pm
chris:

Ah, hell yeah.
  5:55pm
Matt from Springfield:

I smile big to think of someone tuning into this station for the very first time now, with Mr. Rogers intro and Amanda's "Worship Me"!! :D
  5:56pm
spidermanc:

does anyone know if the mighty Amanda still performs?
and if so i wonder if theres any support slots going spare?
  5:58pm
Sean Daily:

Now, see, I would have picked "No Cadillacs In Amsterdam" as my angry music. Amanda's okay, but she doesn't have enough power chords.
  5:58pm
G:

Amanda was interviewed live on two Irwin shows in summer of 2009, if memory serves -- check archives for exact dates...
  5:58pm
Sean Daily:

Oooooo... Amanda with power chords... yes, my precious...
  5:59pm
Carmichael:

If Amanda was allowed power chords and overdrive, she could take over the western hemisphere.
  6:00pm
Matt from Springfield:

Thank you G. It was Jul 22 & 29, 2009, to be exact. And GUESS WHAT?? "Amanda Chronicles" comes up in Google's AutoComplete search box!! Mimi Cookie's world conquest is beginning!
  6:01pm
spidermanc:

was she fed growth inhibiting drugs to preserve her "charm" and maintain any commercial continuity? A la mickey rooney etc?.
  6:01pm
Matt from Springfield:

Another fantastic show Irwin! Thanks!
  6:02pm
G:

She dishes some on her current self in the two Irwin shows mentioned just now...
  6:03pm
spidermanc:

yeah got that thanks , i'm just being a bit of a twat
  6:04pm
G:
