Listener comments!

  9:03am
fxo:

mornin' Liz. Things are working well, 'ight?
  9:05am
Liz B.:

Morning, radio neighbor along with any other lurkers. I've got 2 great bands lined up for today, so anything can happen!
  9:09am
glenn:

yeah, play the lurkers. i haven't heard them in ages.
  9:11am
3D-NYC:

These two opening tracks are hypnotic-
cool-
  9:18am
bruceleh:

good morning liz
  9:19am
Liz B.:

Morning, Bruceleh, great seeing ya at the Atlantic Antic yesterday! Sorry I had to jet to grab lunch...was starving!
  9:32am
Cobra Dan:

Yo Liz:
Could you play some Renderers. Saw them down in SOUTH PHILLY last night at bar run by guyz with broken noses, if you know what i mean. Tried to get the renderers kids to go to the cheesteak stand across the street.
-The Cobra
  9:42am
Liz B.:

Hi Cobra Dan, glad to hear you had a fun time at the Renderers show last night! Not sure if I'll have time to work them in (it's a 2-band day), but I'll certainly try.
  9:43am
AAA:

zzz~ good morning liz and wfmu-ers
  9:44am
dc pat:

whoa, I feel enlightenment coming on...I hope this tune goes on for another 10 or 15 minutes....
  9:46am
dc pat:

dammit, so close! Oh well, more coffee...
  9:46am
glenn:

if hating fuzzy, psychedelic guitars is wrong, i don't wanna be right.
  9:47am
dc pat:

yeah, if only the whole day could be like this...
  9:47am
glenn:

wait. that should be liking, not hating. this fever has me confused.
  9:49am
Liz B.:

I took notice of a new stroller accessory during my day of people-watching at the Atlantic Antic yesterday: a platform that juts out from the base so that kid #2 who is a bit older can stand and ride... like the stroller version of BMX pegs!
  9:52am
Dead Corporate Eyes:

Good morning, everyone. I will have to google "Atlantic Antic" to figure that one out.
  9:54am
glenn:

if hating the idea of ridiculous strollers is wrong, i don't wanna be right. (no confusion on this one)
  9:55am
dc pat:

those standable strollers have actually been around for awhile. The thing that gets me is the new parents with the "luxury strollers" that cost hundreds of dollars. I think we paid like $80 for ours and we thought that was too much...
  9:56am
aaa:

when I bought my first good road bike, I thought the parents with the kid trailers were the coolest
  9:56am
Dead Corporate Eyes:

what everyone needs is a good old-fashioned pram
  9:57am
Liz B.:

Thanks for the clarification, DC Pat! I'd never seen 'em before then nearly every single "luxury" stroller that cruised by seemed to have one. The stroller platform inventors are rich geniuses now!
  9:58am
Randy in NC:

This new TNV is even more lo-fi...
  10:00am
dc pat:

indeed. When you have kids you become very aware of all the different kid accouterments out there... Kids don't give a shit what they're in anyway, they're still going to drip food and puke all over it whether it cost $1000 or ten bucks...
  10:00am
glenn:

hundreds of dollars? a couple thousand isn't unusual.
  10:03am
aaa:

when I was a baby, I recally staring in contempt at the kids in bougie strollers
  10:03am
Dead Corporate Eyes:

scarred for life, aaa.
  10:04am
Dead Corporate Eyes:

probably my favorite OTC tune--can't wait to hear the new stuff, out soon.
  10:06am
Ike:

OTC! OTC!

Stupid boss! Mindlessly gung ho about moving. Can't sit at my desk for long, can't listen long, have to help drag (prob. broken) computers around. Aren't the movers supposed to do that? Does anybody else's boss pull shit like this?
  10:06am
still b/p:

Stroller derby! Class warfare on wheels!
  10:08am
Dead Corporate Eyes:

Ike, is your office moving today? ours moved a year ago. what a nightmare--I'd like to forget it completely.
  10:09am
dc pat:

JEEzus, yer right glenn: http://www.toadsandtulips.com/sicrbaprmina.html
  10:10am
glenn:

stroller derby is the funniest thing i've heard today. still b/p rawks!
  10:10am
dc pat:

I've seen a bunch of people with those. How much money do people make for krissakes??
  10:11am
Dead Corporate Eyes:

you hanging out with the British royal family down there in dc, pat?
  10:12am
glenn:

i have 3 siblings. we all used the same pram. it probably cost 5 bucks. after we were done with it, my mom gave it to her church, where it was probably given to somebody who couldn't afford one.
  10:13am
dc pat:

DCE - I wasn't aware of it but I guess I am. crap.
  10:13am
aaa:

http://cdn.blogs.sheknows.com/babybanter.sheknows.com/2011/01/low-riding-stroller.jpg

I was thinking royalty when I saw that too xD
  10:15am
Ike:

Not until Wed. @DCE, but the boss insists we start today! For no reason. He needs to calm the hell down and listen to Polyps. Or I'll wish polyps onto him.
  10:21am
aaa:

omg dem sounds
  10:22am
listener james from westwood:

  10:42am
pgw in mntclr:

my 2000 saturn does not, and i'm fairly upset about it
  10:42am
hubba:

you have to drive hella far in the West
  10:42am
Parq:

Don't know if this helps, but I'm a renter, and I remember Hertz cars switching from tape decks standard to CD players standard around the beginning of this decade.
  10:43am
Otto Karmacanic:

New vehicles included cassette palyers in head units up to MY2005, poosibly even later
  10:43am
Nate in Detroit:

I have a 2005 VW Jetta wagon that came stock with a tape deck and cd player
  10:43am
The Cal Guy:

My '01 Toyota has a tape deck.
  10:43am
dvd:

2003 Nissan still rocks the tape deck
  10:43am
Ray L:

My 2006 Honda CRV has a cassette/CD player
  10:44am
glenn:

if you have a cheap tape deck and use cheap tapes, then yeah, they suck. i have a n.a.d. deck and use top of the line maxells, and never have a problem.
  10:46am
Liz B.:

Holy crap, cassette decks representing in the '00s!! Thanks for checking in on that everybody! I had no idea! My last car was from '92 so I am outta the loop majorly.
  10:49am
Dead Corporate Eyes:

I can't get my 3-year old to get motivated enough to run errands with me. So I guess I get to listen more!

Yair Yona (Tel Aviv, Earth):

Hi everyone, good to see all of you here.
  10:53am
Dead Corporate Eyes:

ok I'm going to record a tune called "Pony with a Tape Deck" today. That's my promise to you.
  10:53am
Liz B.:

I was always a nerd and dubbed to Type IV tapes.
  10:55am
glenn:

there's a song on the nashville soundtrack called tape deck in his tractor, if memory serves.
  10:56am
aaa:

its been too long, do tapes have a noticeably different sound?
  10:57am
glenn:

personally, i like a little bit of tape hiss. it's the muffin top of high fidelity.
  10:57am
Carmichael:

Good morning, all. When I was in 6th grade, my PE teacher showed up to teach in his T-top Vette, with an 8-track of Creedence's Green River playing. I thought he was a God.
  10:58am
Liz B.:

Remember "High Bias"?
  10:58am
Carmichael:

Metal tapes.
  11:03am
PKNY:

That Glitter Wizard track was mad nice, thanks for playing!
  11:04am
BSI:

I've never been "brand loyal" on anything, but it was always maxell XLII-S. ... or death.
  11:05am
Carmichael:

When I was in Korea, I found a box of Maxell's for super-cheap. After I got home, I noticed the box said "Maxwell".
  11:06am
Yair Yona (Tel Aviv, Earth):

That Glitter Wizzard mad me dance . well, not literally. nice combo between Black Sabbath and Black Angels
  11:06am
Ray L:

Remember those 90 minute double-album-on-a-single-cassette albums? If you listened closely Between songs, you could hear the other side quietly playing in reverse.
  11:07am
J J:

Ha. What about TDK SA-X?
  11:08am
Hawkeye Pierce:

When i was in Korea, i drank like a fish and screwed every nurse I could find. I think I got a better deal.
  11:12am
Ray L:

Remember how you could never tell if music was live or Memorex. I would be driving around saying, man, where the heck is that dadgum band?
  11:17am
Jennique:

I have a cabinet full of mixed tapes that I always swear I am gonna convert to mp3s. Hasn't happened yet and I am the worse for it. I was a Maxell XLII girl myself. I am sure I have a brick of blank ones somewhere in my closet.
  11:18am
dc pat:

yeah I was a TDK guy.
  11:28am
Rob Whalley:

Hey Liz,
Any recommendations for bands from Houston? I need to book one for an 'arty event' coming up early next year in Galveston TX. I'm sure I've heard some cool ones on your show..but names escape me these days!
  11:29am
Liz B.:

Hey Rob, try Indian Jewelry, they are from Houston (and hopefully still together).
  11:32am
dc pat:

Bird Names are wild...
  11:33am
Rob Whalley:

Thanks! Any others you can think of? (I guess if we widened it to include Austin the list would increase exponentially, no?)
