Spectacle! Clamor! and no sign of a crowd!
  8:16pm
Tim:

Anything called "Yon Hall of Thunder" is alright by me!
  8:17pm
Caryn:

Nice start to the show, Bethany! Unfortunately, it's 2 a.m. here and I'm falling asleep. Will have to catch the rest in the archives. Bye, all!
  8:29pm
Rynac:

Bethany - thank you for letting me experience four composers I have not heard before! Lots of new (to me) music to explore.
  8:31pm
bunyan:

The passage from Aho's symphony would go great with the sequence the picture comes from on FMU's main page just now (pursuit through the subterranean tunnels!).
  8:39pm
Richard from Venezuela:

Greetings Bethany and all the listeners

xezzy:

omg thank you so much for Panufnik! I've never really listened to him, since I thought, okay, Lutoslawski, Gorecki, Penderecki, that's enough genious composers from just one country (which is mine accidently), there is no way there could be another one. Wrong!
  8:48pm
Parq:

To twist an old joke about the circus, the excitement is in tenths.

Hi all! Glad to know you are out there! If classical is new to anyone, after listening to this week and last week's shows I assure you that you are an expert in Tenth Symphonies!

monica:

this schubert is degorgeous, bethany. whose recordding is it?
  8:53pm
Skirkie:

I'm still new, but I know I like Mahler.
  8:57pm
bunyan:

Comments list seems a bit quiet tonight: are there *that* many folks on spring break...?

(A bit scary to think what Mahler might have been writing in another five to ten years... though that would have put him through WWI...)

How about a little Bohuslav Martinu or Vladimir Ussachevsky some time up the road? Thanks for another exotic show!

asher:

two kinds of people? those who let themselves be swept away, those who don't. mahler feeds the former i think.
  8:59pm
12539:

All too soon the lights come up and we shuffle out of the symphony hall.
  8:59pm
Skirkie:

I think the New York Philharmonic is performing Mahler's 1st some time next month.
  9:02pm
G:

@bunyan: It's been 20 degrees above normal in much of the eastern half of the US. That could be part of it...

Jeremy:

wonderful show again, I'm catching up on the archive. Just a thought on the question of putting performers etc in the playlist, why not simply find the link to Discogs, which probably has most if not all of the music you play? e.g. for the Mahler above I guess this might be it: http://www.discogs.com/Gustav-Mahler-Felix-Mendelssohn-New-York-Philharmonic-Leonard-Bernstein-Adagio-From-Symphony-No-10-S/release/2504490
Of course the next challenge would be for Ken to extend KenzoDB to ingest this stuff and embed it in the playlist...
