B23 here! Hi WFMU fans and DJ!
  9:35am
Cheri Pi:

Hey B23!
  9:35am
mark vt:

Dan Friel! Amazing at the record fair last year.
  9:36am
B23:

Hey CP!
  9:39am
mark vt:

It is getting crisp out. The time of year I begin making the plans for the record fair. Going to try the sneezing at the sun thing again this year.
  9:42am
B23:

Oh Dan, off to a good start!
  9:46am
B23:

It's like having my brain flossed with barbed wire... but with a great melody
  9:46am
Robert:

I don't know what it is, but it's full of cute little musical quotes, and with or without them, I like it!
  9:49am
Cheri Pi:

Good stuff Dan!
  9:50am
B23:

This is the music from an ice cream truck in some demented reality.
  9:53am
DCE:

haha, B23, that's right on!
  9:53am
Cecile:

Or from the Phil Spector of Robot World
  9:53am
B23:

I want a fudge bar with bits of "real" broken glass.
  9:54am
mark vt:

I think demented reality is an oxymoron.
  9:56am
Cecile:

ha, you could do that with sugar. It would look like broken glass, but be a lot less hurty. Those molecular gastronomists need to get on that.
  9:58am
BSI:

Present, but not in the biblical sense.
  9:58am
Cheri Pi:

I want the ice cream implied by these beats.
  10:00am
Cecile:

now this sounds like a fun theme to a teensploitation flick for a sorority house full of sassy androids.
  10:01am
Cecile:

And, Dan, you should use half the comments posted here in your next press release.

You're welcome.
  10:01am
Krypt:

Hi Liz Hi Dan, liking much, thanx.
  10:07am
dcp:

what th-?
  10:10am
Berg:

that's some good heavy stuff right there Liz - fantabulous!
  10:11am
B23:

Wow, powerful way to start a Monday. This reminds me of when I did an 8 AM performance for the Music Appreciation class in the Tangamine Center of University of Cincinnati. From the looks on the audiences faces, they were not appreciating it very much. But the professor asked us to stay and play for the next class.
  10:11am
BenG:

Liz, Dan, this Monday is one of the bestest in the history of many great Mondays. Dan, Liz has spoiled us for a long long time.
  10:12am
Cecile:

This is a great way to start a Monday. I need some prickly energy to get the brain cells going.
  10:12am
tim from champaign:

Speaking of sorority houses, I've seen a number of young co-eds on campus wearing their sorority t-shirts which have appropriated classic rock logos. One t-shirt co-opted the Dark Side of the Moon prism and another used the Stones lips and tongue. I'd love to see a Master of Reality sorority t-shirt!
  10:13am
Cecile:

that sounds hilarious.
One funny one would be a cop on British Steel with a Venus razor.
  10:13am
Mike:

This is definitely the first monday in a long time I'm weeping for pure aural joy rather than the week ahead of me.
  10:14am
Cheri Pi:

That's hilarious Tim!
  10:14am
B23:

I am doing the interweb equivalent of a standing ovation, Dan!
  10:14am
Bas, NL:

Nice set by Dan Friel!
  10:14am
BenG:

ps. Thanks Scott Williams!
  10:15am
Krypt:

Dan's Ices serving cones of pure viscera.
  10:15am
Cecile:

well played, Mr. Friel. Well played.
  10:16am
Cecile:

hahahahhahaha Krypt.
  10:16am
Cheri Pi:

Dan should spell his name in Blue Oyster Cult font on his next release.
  10:17am
Cheri Pi:

although-Pac-Man font may be more apropos. Cecile-weigh in.
  10:18am
tim from champaign:

The Dan Friel set was a creeper! Pretty kick ass.

Yeah, I was half tempted to ask one of the girls about the design but figured they'd think I'm a creep and I'd get a chaimochafraplatteaccino thrown in my face.
  10:19am
Cecile:

you should say, HEY! I used to have that record...without the sorority letters on it.

And they might go, that was a record cover? Cool.
  10:20am
Cecile:

Or more depressingly, "Oh my dad had that one."
  10:21am
Cheri Pi:

I bet the Greek "swag" machine pays a heftty font-tax-license for those logos.
  10:23am
Cecile:

Cheri, I think Baby Teeth would be a great font for Mr. Friel. I think BSI is right with me on that.
  10:23am
dcp:

ANSWER THE DAMN PHONE!
  10:24am
Cheri Pi:

I want a quote from BSI now!!! hahaaha. Liz-ensure that Dan reads all the comments later so he can lol.
  10:25am
Robert:

Cecile, considering your 10:01, I'm always conscious of the promotional value of these appearances. Terre T frequently has on acts that will perform that night nearby, and one time the pictures she posted here of them performing ended with a group shot with a pose that looked as if they were pleading with the audience for sympathy, after they had played well, and I wrote here the admittedly sarcastic remark, "At least they sound better than they look", which Terre didn't like, but I noticed that ever since then, she's always had the performers smiling -- and often she's had another photographer, with Terre in the picture. I think every little bit helps sell tickets.
  10:26am
Cecile:

BSI: "My cerebral cortex is eating pancakes and MDA right now."
  10:26am
Robert:

Or if not smiling, in a provocative pose...something that says they're proud of their accomplishment.
  10:28am
BSI:

whoa, whut? Had to duck out & missed my cue for the magical quote. Pretty much anything involving insects, semi-solid foodstuffs, and weird body things is on the money...
  10:28am
Cecile:

You know it does, Robert.
If you dont' have a big promo budget, you have to pile up little "promotable moments."
  10:28am
Cecile:

you can vet the one I came up for you.
  10:29am
Cheri Pi:

Robert-the power of the comment board is not to be underestimated, no band should take for granted that out there somewhere, a producer of concept albums is searching for his next muse.
  10:29am
Cecile:

That was addressed to BSI.
  10:30am
Cheri Pi:

[sproing!] BSI! BSI! BSI!
  10:31am
BSI:

"Sounds like an army of pineal pancake omnivores on a feeding frenzy of the SKY! It's a solar breakfast apocalypse in my HANDS, man..."
  10:31am
BSI:

"Too much too much, you took too much..."
  10:32am
Krypt:

I would drive a Dan Friel Ice Cream to Burning Man next year anyone wanna join?
  10:35am
DCE:

on the bus, or ice cream truck, or whatever modified burn vehicle you can dream up
  10:36am
Cheri Pi:

OK-Liz-career path for Dan Friel has been defined, executed and will be managed by the board.
  10:38am
dcp:

man, I missed most of the ice cream fun but this set is really making shit happen for me.
  10:41am
paula pc:

gooch palms where have i been to not have heard ya before??
  10:43am
dcp:

yeah that's the stuff!
  10:51am
DCE:

I think this is the second time I've heard Spectre Folk and the second time it's elicited a comment of support from me.
  11:01am
DCE:

and this Jacco!! hitting the right spot, certainly.
  11:02am
Carmichael:

Good morning listeners and Liz.
  11:16am
Lucas:

Hello dear listeners! Hola Liz!!
  11:29am
Cheri Pi:

this is what I'm talking about right here.
  11:30am
DCE:

fingers drumming, toes dancing, belly rumbling
  11:30am
Lucas:

@Cheri Pi: I support you!
  11:30am
BenG:

Move over rap. Funk is in da house.
  11:35am
Cheri Pi:

Shakin' da rump!
  11:35am
BSI:

Very hip. Spazz-dancing while setting my head on fire. Good for the blood.
  11:36am
DCE:

trying to drum up cubicle dance party here? you may succeed!
  11:40am
BSI:

It's been a grand show so far, but DJFCScorpion totally nails my nose to the navel of god. Well done. Sounds like a Realistic/Moog MG-1 in there. I swoon.
  11:40am
Lucas:

Agree completely with BSI!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:42am
Liz B.:

It was a grand dance party until I rested my hand on something sticky on the studio counter. Ewww. Grabbing the cleaning wipes now!
  11:45am
Krypt:

Liz you're makin' me nostalgic for HotRod on Fri morns with this.
  11:58am
mark vt:

This has been a very good Monday, considering. Thanks for having Dan Friel on. It was a nice treat today. I remember hanging out with him at the record fair. Really great guy. And talent!
  11:58am
DCE:

have a great day, Liz. loved the show today!
