B D-M was an early member of National Lampoon back in the LP days. His brother came along at the same time, but didn't get the good parts until much later. Christopher Guest and Richard Belzer (Law & Order) were involved early as well.

Dr. Dean a/k/a Dr. Sanford I. Berman. Look him up on wiki.

Thank you, genial host, for info on Sanford I. Berman. His family is from rural Minnesota, like mine. I, however, did not become a hypnotist. Dang...

One of the easiest to find is by the Dresden Dolls. Brian V really tears into the drum part.

By the way, Irwin, do you have anything in front of you that says who the drummer on this session is?
  5:20pm
P-90:

Hey Carmichael! yeah Brian was actually one of the stars of the National Lampoon Radio Hour syndicated show before Bill even broke in. He wrote and performed a lot there, and wrote for the magazine and the NatLamp live touring shows, featuring Chevy Chase, John Belushi, etc (and Chris Guest, who also wrote a lot of stuff for the mag.) --let's see, so where did Lorne Michaels go when asked to produce a "hip" show for Saturday late nights? Hmmm...

P-90, I never understood why Chris Guest wasn't grabbed up along with the others by Lorne in 77. He didn't get onto the show until years later, and only for a short while. Something personal with him, I'm guessing. He was always my favorite of all of them.

"(Get A) Grip (On Yourself)" is such odd parenthesization that I think this might be fodder for another list.

RRG: Yeah, (I was thinking) that (two sets of parentheses) in a song title (doesn't happen too often). Reminds me of linguistics classes from a while back

Interesting thing about the word "lisp" -- if you have one, you can't pronounce it.

Lisp users know the value of everything... and the cost of nothing.

Clarification required: How much, if any, text is required between the matched sets of parens?

I've been stymied by parenthesis again -- they're used everywhere for everything:
paul mccartney & wings, band on the run, jet (original from picasso's last words) (background)/paul mccartney (dialogue link 7)/jet (original from picasso's last words) (background)/al coury (dialogue)

Very difficult to get the "intended" enumeration of song names with parenthesis.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 5:54pm

All this junk appears in the song titles themselves, you mean?

Yeah, that would make it harder.

i,in most circumstances make my rules,so that it's logical to me but clear to others;but in school we were told to put commas & periods (now called"dots") within the parenthesis, before continuing...but merriam webster says no- outside.

Arden, I'm concerned that you're preoccupied with money. Musicians must accept poverty and day jobs! Ask your Uncle Lane.

[Sobbing uselessly] Arden, don't listen to Grampa Irwin! Society needs to stop stealing from musicians. It's not okay to steal from the people who fundamentally change and inspire our lives. You deserve to be paid! Musician is an honorable, skilled profession!

Until then, remember it's called "playing" for a reason. I want to hear you smiling on your next record, too.
