Nice, I was speaking with a friend of time on what makes an US resident becomes a Brazilianist. She went to Yale for some time to work with some guy who studied Machado de Assis. But I think Portuguese is a difficult language to master, lots of regional variations and slang and accents

Dylan is actually from Northern MN, which is a different vibe that Minneapolis. But Mpls did give him a launching pad of sorts.

Prince is so part of the fabric of Minneapolis. People went to school with him, played in his bands. He's not quite the recluse he portrays. People see him at shows, he was at Janelle Monae recently.

I think part of it is the weather. You are forced to stay inside and read, draw, cook or play music for days on end. Especially this winter! We should have a huge artistic surge this summer.

@Cecile - Bohannon records are real easy to come by. Used LPs are affordable. I'm not sure what's available on cd though. I was hipped to Bohannon about 5 years ago. I've since found about 8 of his LPs. The late 70s-early 80s Bohannon is just as good as the mid 70s records.
