Favoriting Brian Turner: Playlist from May 6, 2014 Favoriting

Order and disorder in a freeform haze of terribly-played guitars, shorted-out electronics, found audio detritus, strange sounds from strange lands all around. Psych-punk-junk, collage, even pop. Lots of in-studio live performances to boot.

How do you do it BT!? Nevermind, just keep doing it! Kicking out jams and things of that nature...
Avatar 3:36pm
Milson:

What does that bass line remind you of? Something...
Avatar 3:36pm
Lopez:

This quirky Onyeabor jam is great. I love sweet songs that are actually about mass death and mayhem
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:36pm
Greg from Bloomfield:

Had the good fortune to see David Byrne & Co do this on Saturday. Great show- every song was like a 10-minute mini-party.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:37pm

@ Milson, something mo-town-y...can't quite put my tongue on it
Avatar 3:39pm

this Onyeabor tune is working too

I ended up at the Onyeabor after party at a Nigerian restaurant on Fulton, Satnite.

Man, I just got here. Hope you haven't yet released the Kraken!
Avatar 3:47pm
Milson:

@ dc pat - it was like some Smokey Robinson into Quincy Jones 80's production bridge... it is familiar but not quite identifiable... either way, this jam and others on the comp has become part of my canon, of sorts.

Avatar 4:13pm

...contextually that Rodman Melchoir recording is melancholy... hope everything is okay... Dan's "Hospital Poem" piece on the Starlight Furniture Co.'s release seems to necessitate some biography, yet I feel like I'm intruding, just being a record nerd and all... the recordings on their own are equally evocative, jsut some other place...I second DCE, nice run BT.

Mr. Turner, same advice as I gave Trouble and am taking myself: loratidine (generic for Claritin), non-sedating antihistamine, 1/day dosing. Does dry your mouth & throat, but unless you're a DJ, not a problem.
Avatar 4:40pm

I'm doing the same drugs, Robert. This season is killing me.

The TV show, or the actual island?

Usually the tree sex messes me all up, but so far this season, not so bad. Some specific tree or bush or pollen must have died (?). Or starting using protection. Or maybe there's Zyrtec runoff in the tap water.

love the psyche. reminds me of the sound effects in robinson crusoe on mars all discoed up.

Dark Entries seems to be a haven for the crude, hissy, and dark side of early 80s electronic music.

@JakeGould. Down by the Payless, Dunkin Dounuts (free wife) and Pep boys. Had to do some brake work. Am more likely to live by the seashore for now, and turn to river territory when I go west.
