Avatar Thu. 10/9/14 1:22pm Cecile:

Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 10/9/14 1:23pm Andrew Waterloo:

Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 10/9/14 1:24pm chris:

Voivod says they'll play Monty Hall if Diane reaches her pledge goal. <that's total bullshit, but it would be killer, yes?>
Avatar Thu. 10/9/14 1:27pm PKNY:

@chris - I like how you think.
Avatar Thu. 10/9/14 1:30pm Cecile:

Or maybe Pi and I could get "Killing Technology", Northern Wisconsin's finest Voivod tribute band to play. If they don't know about Blues Hospice, that is...
Avatar Thu. 10/9/14 1:31pm Cecile:

Polaroids or Mr Clean from Katorz.
Avatar Thu. 10/9/14 1:33pm V Priceless:

Voivod choice: Time Warp
Avatar Thu. 10/9/14 1:35pm Cecile:

(Sung to tune of Mambo #5) A little bit of Darkthrone in my 'pod
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 10/9/14 1:35pm Rich in Washington:

Avatar Thu. 10/9/14 1:39pm Cecile:

that's why we have the stream, and good for you for taking your daily constitution.
Avatar Thu. 10/9/14 1:42pm Cecile:

what land is this great band I never heard of from?
Avatar Thu. 10/9/14 1:45pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Avatar Thu. 10/9/14 1:46pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Always time for COWS.
Avatar Thu. 10/9/14 1:46pm Chris from DC:

I regret never seeing Cows live.
Avatar Thu. 10/9/14 1:48pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Watching Kevin during those cows gigs made me wanna get a bass. Dude was a psycho-eyed fool of awesome.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 10/9/14 1:48pm Rich in Washington:

The Cows were a crucial part of that genre of music I call Ugly Atonal Eighties: Butthole Surfers; Birthday Party; Stickmen W/Rayguns/Scratch Acid; Killdozer et al.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 10/9/14 1:49pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Go, Cows!
Avatar Thu. 10/9/14 1:50pm Cecile:

Yup, they sure were, Rich, and this is after I never made it much past their first album.
Avatar Thu. 10/9/14 1:50pm Cecile:

And I never saw them live, which only speaks to my own lameness.
Avatar Thu. 10/9/14 1:50pm V Priceless:

actually met the drummer from stickmen at the bar at one of the recent Crimson gigs!
  Thu. 10/9/14 1:51pm the Canterbury wood-elf:

@VP How were the Crims?
Avatar Thu. 10/9/14 1:51pm Diane Kamikaze:

Oh. Cows Live. Sick. Scary. Wonderful. Delicious.
Avatar Thu. 10/9/14 1:52pm Cecile:

I was so depressed by Minnesota that I was almost catatonic when they broke up. Still, though...
Avatar Thu. 10/9/14 1:52pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

If shannon found you in the crowd, you were MARKED and somewhat awesomely DOOMED.
Avatar Thu. 10/9/14 1:53pm Cecile:

Avatar Thu. 10/9/14 1:54pm V Priceless:

@ tcw-e: I suck at math, but at one point all three drummers were each holding two pair of sticks. Not to be missed!

RIP Paul Revere!
Avatar Thu. 10/9/14 1:54pm PKNY:

One of my first musical memories is listening to my mom's Paul Revere records, "Kicks" will forever be by jam.
Avatar Thu. 10/9/14 1:56pm Cecile:

WHAT? Paul Revere is dead?

Wow, some dumbass person described him as the lead singer of the band. MARK LINDSAY...! It was Mark Lindsay!
Avatar Thu. 10/9/14 1:57pm Cecile:

Got Louie Come Home?
Avatar Thu. 10/9/14 1:58pm Cecile:

or Louie Go Home or whatever.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 10/9/14 1:59pm Rich in Washington:

My earliest school memory was kindergarten and girls (who were High School kids assisting for credit) asking me if I was related to Mark Lindsay, since I shared that last name. I had no idea who that was.
Avatar Thu. 10/9/14 2:01pm Diane Kamikaze:

Sorry Cecile; I'm playing PR/Raiders off of spotify and I did NOT like either version of both of those songs and I don't want to chance another dud... And how could anyone mix up the two of them? I met Mark Lindsay about 2-3 years ago. I told him that LET ME was one of the best rock songs ever written... :)
Avatar Thu. 10/9/14 2:01pm V Priceless:

crushed butler = great name
  Thu. 10/9/14 2:01pm the Canterbury wood-elf:

Crushed Butler. What a great band name! Why have i never heard of them? i suppose that's what WFMU is for...
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 10/9/14 2:01pm Rich in Washington:

Holy crap! I've never heard of Crushed Butler before. Amazing!
Avatar Thu. 10/9/14 2:01pm Chris from DC:

Oh yeah, they're great.
Avatar Thu. 10/9/14 2:01pm Diane Kamikaze:

I find it hard to believe that Paul Revere was 76 though...?
Avatar Thu. 10/9/14 2:02pm Cecile:

He was the oldest of the group - he was in his late 20s when the rest of the band was in their teens.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 10/9/14 2:03pm Rich in Washington:

Whenever I think of Paul Revere solo, I think of the SCTV sketch where he's the house act in some dive bar, playing instrumental Raiders songs...
Avatar Thu. 10/9/14 2:04pm V Priceless:

I guess PR was the Jet Black of the band, in terms of age. Literally.
Avatar Thu. 10/9/14 2:06pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

My very first record (not counting kiddie records) was the Paul Revere 7" for HUNGRY. A gift from mum. Age 4 or 5. And behold, the tune still rocks.
Avatar Thu. 10/9/14 2:07pm Cecile:

I remember watching Where The Action Is when I'd come after grade school.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 10/9/14 2:09pm arturo:

Avatar Thu. 10/9/14 2:10pm Chris from DC:

They're playing a reunion show later in the Fall with Moss Icon.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 10/9/14 2:11pm Goyim in the AM:

The also-rans of harDCore tour will surely follow, snooze snooze.
Avatar Thu. 10/9/14 2:14pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

I have no memory of the sound of Moss Icon but I do recall [favorably] having a 7" and seeing 'em, back in ancient times.
Avatar Thu. 10/9/14 2:16pm Cecile:

Avatar Thu. 10/9/14 2:16pm Cecile:

I call Katorz their Saints record.
Avatar Thu. 10/9/14 2:17pm V Priceless:

gotta figure out how to transpose that kamikaze keyboard vocal into a ring tone.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 10/9/14 2:17pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Again...Voivod! !! !!!
Avatar Thu. 10/9/14 2:17pm Chris from DC:

Bonus Voivod!
Avatar Thu. 10/9/14 2:18pm Cecile:

great diatribe against Montreal's gentrification.
Avatar Thu. 10/9/14 2:20pm Cecile:

thanks, Diane!

Avatar Thu. 10/9/14 2:29pm Dave B:

Sorry V Priceless - that was me!
Avatar Thu. 10/9/14 2:29pm Cecile:

How about Miss Misery by Nazareth?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 10/9/14 2:30pm Rich in Washington:

I liked some of their stuff I had on comps but found their albums kind of unengaging. Probably says more about my listening habits in the 90s more than the quality of their music. They were undeniably talented and dynamic enough.
Avatar Thu. 10/9/14 2:30pm Chris from DC:

Mr. DNA?
Avatar Thu. 10/9/14 2:31pm V Priceless:

no doubt using the app, Dave B! Weird how the AV vanishes when you're on the app
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 10/9/14 2:31pm Mr. Rich in Washington:

For the longest time I thought their vocalist was female, just based on hearing their early stuff.
Avatar Thu. 10/9/14 2:33pm Cecile:

this is great "driving my chopper up to the ridge overlooking town" music
Avatar Thu. 10/9/14 2:38pm Dave B:

Not sure I follow V...
Avatar Thu. 10/9/14 2:39pm Cecile:

you can't log into your profile on the FMU app, right VP?
Avatar Thu. 10/9/14 2:39pm V Priceless:

when on the FMU app from mobile device, your avatar does not appear here, is what I meant, DB.
Avatar Thu. 10/9/14 2:40pm V Priceless:

@ cecile - you can log-on - you just show up here sans avatar.
Avatar Thu. 10/9/14 2:41pm Cecile:

I didn't know that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 10/9/14 2:43pm Ken From Hyde Park:

On the Android App, I wasn't able to find the streaming video from 7SD last night. Used the browser to watch the action.

Avatar Thu. 10/9/14 2:48pm Dave B:

thats how I understand it to . Often I've changed my name (accidentally and on purpose) when using the mobile app
Avatar Thu. 10/9/14 2:49pm InBrkly:

Ugh. Flu shot left me feeling bludgeoned. BTW, Bludgeon is the name of my band if I ever learn to play guitar.
Avatar Thu. 10/9/14 2:49pm V Priceless:

@ chris - got ya - even though logged-in from iphone, it's what Dave B said - thus the clicky avatar not showing up under the app. I'm sure it's on the FMU "to do" list!

not effective. ridiculously messy.
Avatar Thu. 10/9/14 2:53pm Cecile:

Bludegon was the name of the fake metal band on the flexi that came with one of the first Your Flesh fanzines.
Avatar Thu. 10/9/14 2:53pm Diane Kamikaze:

Great name!
Avatar Thu. 10/9/14 2:53pm Cecile:

I think Tom Hazelmyer may have been involved with it somehow
Avatar Thu. 10/9/14 2:54pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

hell, I've got those Your Fleshes somewhere, still...
Avatar Thu. 10/9/14 2:54pm Diane Kamikaze:

Wait, BLUDEGON or Bludgeon? Both are great names actually..
Avatar Thu. 10/9/14 2:55pm Cecile:

I wrote for them in the early 00s for a while.
Avatar Thu. 10/9/14 2:55pm Cecile:

I think it was Bludgeon, and it had an umlaut.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 10/9/14 2:55pm chris:

Avatar Thu. 10/9/14 2:56pm InBrkly:

Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 10/9/14 2:56pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Pentagon = 5 sides
Hexagon = 6 sides
Bludegon = ?
Avatar Thu. 10/9/14 2:57pm Dave B:

Use Blüd-b-gone after every livestock slaughter!
Avatar Thu. 10/9/14 2:57pm V Priceless:

thunderous show Diane! Thanks!
Avatar Thu. 10/9/14 2:58pm InBrkly:

Bludegone = no sides. Just a pulpy puddle of a former shape.
Avatar Thu. 10/9/14 2:59pm InBrkly:

Which incidentally is what my avatar is looking at.
