Did the sky above Jersey City cooperate so you could see Super Blood Moon?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 9/28/15 12:06am Ike:

In Sunset Park, it was visible for a while earlier this evening (but not especially bloody), and very bright, but then the clouds jumped in and fracked everything up.
Avatar Mon. 9/28/15 12:07am BadGuyZero:

The sky over Dallas was a little hazy. But not hazy enough to keep me from taking 600 crappy photos of Super Blood Moon!
Avatar Mon. 9/28/15 12:08am JakeGould:

@Ike: I beg to differ because about 30 blocks south of you in Bay Ride I saw it nice and red even from the street. So get your local Sunset Park council man to clean up those clouds.
Avatar Mon. 9/28/15 12:09am Therese:

I could see the eclipse starting, as I came over to the station. But then there were buildings in the way and it got cloudy. So I watched from the NASA webpage.
Avatar Mon. 9/28/15 12:14am BadGuyZero:

The moon didn't look too super here. It looked like it was maintaining its regular distance.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 9/28/15 12:15am Ike:

Oh wait, there it is. It moved without telling me. I see it now. Still not very bloody. Maybe I need to adjust the tint settings on my eyeballs.
Avatar Mon. 9/28/15 12:16am JakeGould:

Based on everyone’s comment this would have been the perfect night to pull one of those “Telescope with ink on the eyepiece that makes it look like you have a black eye” nights.
Avatar Mon. 9/28/15 12:20am JakeGould:

Okay… So… Is Bonnie Tyler in the mix?
Avatar Mon. 9/28/15 12:21am BadGuyZero:

BLERG! I should have made "Moon Song Bingo" boards.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 9/28/15 12:21am pacific standard simon:

I assume there will be Moon Martin.
Avatar Mon. 9/28/15 12:21am Therese:

I won't lie, @JakeGould. I thought about that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 9/28/15 12:22am pacific standard simon:

And Keith Moon.
Avatar Mon. 9/28/15 12:23am JakeGould:

@Therese: I—and a handful of people here right now—appreciate your honesty.

The New York Times reported that the Pope left shortly after 7:30pm.

Hi Therese and company! Anybody else a huge fan of The Police's "Walking on the Moon"? That was a frickin' awesome tune! =D

Did any of the comedy clubs have Popen Mic Night?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 9/28/15 12:34am pacific standard simon:

The Pope jumped in his Pope-plane and chased away the dragon that was eating the moon.
  Mon. 9/28/15 12:35am Dean:

Had to look it up, Jake.

Re: "Walking on the Moon," I have a jazzy-ish cover of it by somebody I can't just now recall. It's not bad. Not a fan, though, of the original.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 9/28/15 12:36am sugarwolf:

I can't remember the exact joke, but I loved the joke on the Colbert Report about Pope merchandise and the biblical passage of Jesus' thoughts on it.

  Mon. 9/28/15 12:51am K&K:

We saw the blood moon quite clearly from 26th Street and Broadway in Manhattan. Than a stranger invited us to some rooftop bar for a better look. It was like something out of Eyes Wide Shut, people in red robes milling about. I like to imagine there was chanting happening, but I don't think there really was. By then, the moon was obscured by clouds and we went home.

BLERG! I was going to suggest that you check out the Debbie Reynolds Museum in Las Vegas, but an internet search shows that it closed down. Her hotel (which housed the museum) was imploded earlier this year.
Avatar Mon. 9/28/15 1:15am BadGuyZero:

BLERG! Olivia Newton-John's Vegas show is dark until the end of October.
  Mon. 9/28/15 1:16am zenkoan:

Cute lunar-related set, Therese. Always enjoy your selections.
Avatar Mon. 9/28/15 1:17am BadGuyZero:

The Neon Museum is still around. You might enjoy that if you haven't visited it previously.
Avatar Mon. 9/28/15 1:20am Therese:

The Neon Museum is at the top of my list, @BGZ.
Avatar Mon. 9/28/15 1:23am BadGuyZero:

There's also the Pinball Hall of Fame. But that's likely similar to the Silver Ball Museum.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 9/28/15 1:26am sugarwolf:

There's a branch of my store in LV and it got some, um, bad publicity in the NYT magazine a few years ago.
Avatar Mon. 9/28/15 1:26am Therese:

According to DJ Stashu, the Pinball Hall of Fame is much larger than the Silverball

Avatar Mon. 9/28/15 1:31am Therese:

Yeah, seriously. Take your reconstructed CBGB and stuff it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 9/28/15 1:32am sugarwolf:

Well, don't do what my coworker did and leave your brand new phone (that you got some guy to buy for you??) in LV and have to have your friends mail it back to you.
Avatar Mon. 9/28/15 1:37am BadGuyZero:

I haven't heard this Bobby Womack track in ages. Great chorus on this one.
Avatar Mon. 9/28/15 1:50am JakeGould:

Reconstructed CBGBs just sounds like… Did Hilly Kristal’s family really think any of that through?

@Therese: Yeah. lovin' it! =)
Avatar Mon. 9/28/15 2:35am BadGuyZero:

Sounds like an EP to me.
Avatar Mon. 9/28/15 2:40am BadGuyZero:

My understanding of the history of the term EP - and I could be entirely wrong about this - is that the first EPs were 7-inch records that played at 33rpm and featured two songs on each side. So it was extended play compared to a traditional 7-inch single, but not long play like a 12-inch record. Over time it became a catch-all term for records that weren't a traditional one-song-per-side 7-inch or a full-length LP.

Again, I could be way off the mark, but that's how it was explained to me during my teenage years.
Avatar Mon. 9/28/15 2:46am BadGuyZero:

Yay! Another "moon" song!
Avatar Mon. 9/28/15 2:53am coelacanth:

BGZ @2:40 i'm pretty sure you are entirely correct.
Avatar Mon. 9/28/15 2:56am BadGuyZero:

I hope you enjoy your weekend away, Therese. Thank you for getting Christina to fill in. Her show was exceptional when she filled in for you previously.
  Mon. 9/28/15 2:57am Steve-O:

Bye, Therese. You did a great show tonight, as is the usual. Have a wonderful week, everybody! =)
Avatar Mon. 9/28/15 2:58am coelacanth:

"super moon"...bah! that's what started this whole thing..... this whole "going out and getting drunk"thing.
- i really was just going out for a peak at the red moon.
Avatar Mon. 9/28/15 2:59am BadGuyZero:

According to Wikipedia the "harvest moon" is the full moon closest to the autumnal equinox. A "blue moon" is the second full moon within a calendar month.
Avatar Mon. 9/28/15 2:59am coelacanth:

Mo's right. even i look okay in the dark.
  Mon. 9/28/15 2:59am Steve-O:

P.S., loved Christina's last show, by the way! I'm sure she'll do just fine next week, too. Anyway, see you all later, and have a great time. =)
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 9/28/15 9:30am listener james from westwood:

If you're still taking Las Vegas tips: If your party will have a car, see if you all can get out to Red Rock Canyon, like a half hour+ northwest of the city. Amazing natural formations, far from the casino noise and smoke if you need a break, and there are a variety of walking and hiking trails, incl. an easy nature walk at Red Spring Boardwalk Trail. Whatever else you do out there, stay hydrated, both inside the hotels and out, and remember that the properties along the Strip are a lot farther away from each other than they look, if you're gonna hoof it from one to the next. And have fun!!
