Hey Joe, bet you got something special lined up for Jim's show. Complete works of Willie the Shake perhaps.

Good Morning DJ Joe and Martians everywhere.

  Mon. 10/12/15 9:07am P-90:

Gee, this is an excellent example of a nice show to pledge a little something to during "Crunch Time"! Just sayin'
  Mon. 10/12/15 9:07am Cooh John:

Nice sounds to start the day/week.
Avatar Mon. 10/12/15 9:08am Berg:

Also nice day to start the sounds ^^

Lush...makes me fall in love all over again (with music, with radio)....saw Michael Chapman in Providence last night who made us fall in love with guitar all over again.

Avatar Mon. 10/12/15 9:11am Joe McG:

Happy Monday, everyone! Hope yours is OK so far. @Brian: I think Jim will like it. @Will: Chapman is playing here at Monty Hall on Sunday, looking forward to it!

@Canterbury, did you catch Tony Coulter's show last week?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 10/12/15 9:17am fred:

MBV turned out to be a one trick pony, in my opinion. Good trick, but still... I prefer the other Kevin Shields
Avatar Mon. 10/12/15 9:18am Joe McG:

@fxo: OK, Frank, I will! @elf: Thanks! @mayuko: Hi, Mayuko!
Avatar Mon. 10/12/15 9:19am the Canterbury wood-elf:

@Brian NO, totally missed that! Thanks so much for the link. Tony's seemingly dug up a few gems that have eluded me. I shall be revisiting archivally at the first possible opportunity.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 10/12/15 9:22am Mayuko:

@fred I actually agree with you on that about MBV. Even though the emptiness of Loveless spoke to me pretty strongly, I think that one album did enough for me and I don't need any more.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 10/12/15 9:24am Brian in UK:

Off to build a compost, got a ton of cow manure coming this weekend. Any volunteers, I have gloves.
OK then, completely understand.
Avatar Mon. 10/12/15 9:24am OTB:

Stupid work made me late for listening, but I'm here with open ears! Good morning, Joe and all!
  Mon. 10/12/15 9:24am Will:

Whoa! Did Ashtray Boy pay the Wedding Present for the rights to their sound? Rock it Joe!
Avatar Mon. 10/12/15 9:25am Joe McG:

@Will: It's a Wedding Present cover, so it's all fair and legal!
  Mon. 10/12/15 9:28am MONEYBAG$:

did you see the KLF last night?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 10/12/15 9:28am Brian in UK:

Double egg, chips and beans. A slice and large brew. There's a Marios near you.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 10/12/15 9:29am Brian in UK:

@MONEYBAG$ when were they on at 3AM?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 10/12/15 9:32am fred:

@Mayuko: Gary once played a Taiwanese band called Skip Skip Ben Ben that sounded like MBV in a good way. None of my Taiwanese friends had heard of them, though I think they're related to Carsick Cars
  Mon. 10/12/15 9:33am SeanG:

New Order sounding good!

Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 10/12/15 9:39am redkayak:

Good morning all :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 10/12/15 9:40am fred:

In my high school days -- decades ago -- New Order really mattered to me. So the recent mess with Peter Hook felt embarassing
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 10/12/15 9:41am Mayuko:

@fred I wasn't too crazy about Carsick Cars when I saw them live, I guess I'm too old for them, haha. But I'll def check Skip Skip Ben Ben, then! Funny sounding name.
Avatar Mon. 10/12/15 9:46am Joe McG:

Avatar Mon. 10/12/15 10:39am Joe McG:

Oh, I forgot about the video, Cecile! Can you post it to the comments?
  Mon. 10/12/15 10:40am P-90:

Neil's "Wonderin'": I loved it the first time I heard it, and all these decades later, I think I love it a little more every time...
Avatar Mon. 10/12/15 10:41am Cecile:

Neil in his pink suit!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 10/12/15 10:41am Ken From Hyde Park:

@Cecile - I was going to remark that Neil's video was pretty good. Back from the days where you'd watch MTV to see what new videos were in rotation.
Avatar Mon. 10/12/15 10:43am Joe McG:

OH, love that! Neil staggering around in his pink tie! Thanks, Cecile.
  Mon. 10/12/15 10:43am P-90:

That gloriously low-tech "Wonderin" video got some heavy rotation on MTV, back in the day (when MTV was something actually relevant).
Avatar Mon. 10/12/15 10:44am Magda:

I saw Neil & the Shocking Pinks 9/1/83 at the meadowlands - great show!

Wonderin' actually dates from the After the Gold Rush sessions, a version with Crazy Horse came out on the archives
Avatar Mon. 10/12/15 11:13am Joe McG:

Wow, Joe, I didn't know that! I have to hear the original version. @Dean: Thanks for helping out with Ayers ref!
Avatar Mon. 10/12/15 11:13am Cecile:

Joe, you are always the man with the great answers. I am sorry I missed that tour. It looked fun. I did see him during the Rusted Out Garage Tour. He had motorized cockroaches the size of small dogs come out and spin around. They really went nuts during Cortez The Killer. hahha
Avatar Mon. 10/12/15 11:14am Joe B:

there's a version on the Live at Fillmore East Cd that is in the library. The Pinks version is better IMO. Is Payola Blues the flip? that is a great tune also!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 10/12/15 11:15am Uncle Michael:

I saw the Shocking Pinks on July 4, (I thought 1984...maybe not). They closed the show after Neil did a mixed sort of Rust/Trans show (that featured copious booing). This was in Omaha.
Avatar Mon. 10/12/15 11:15am Joe McG:

@JoeB: Yes, that's the flip! Funny Neil going after the music industry... as usual!
Avatar Mon. 10/12/15 11:16am Joe B:

Rusted Out Garage was of course kind of weird as it was Crazy Horse but they were incorporating synths and some electronic drums. check out the version of mr soul from that tour!
Avatar Mon. 10/12/15 11:16am Joe B:

would have been 1983 Uncle Michael! by 84 it was on to the international harvesters!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 10/12/15 11:17am Uncle Michael:

Actually, '83 has to be right, based on my own personal timeline. I was back in Chicago in '84.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 10/12/15 11:18am Uncle Michael:

My buddy Vic and I left a 4th of July party in Topeka...drove to Omaha for the show, then drove back to the party which was still going on. Three hours each way.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 10/12/15 11:19am Uncle Michael:

They showed this video of the Pinks arriving at the (generic) venue while the band and stage changed over for.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 10/12/15 11:19am Stevel:

Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 10/12/15 11:20am Uncle Michael:

Verve of Youth for sure. That's the name of my new band.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 10/12/15 11:20am Stevel:
