Hi everyone!!!

Doug Schulkind:

Mayuko, you flow magnificently (referring to earlier comment on previous playlist).

Mayuko:

Doug, I often find it difficult to shift from old stuff to 2000's electronic music because the texture of the sounds are often quite different (unless there are samplings from old music involved, etc.) But that Melvin Jackson track merged into Vikter Duplaix so smoothly! I guessed the key was the drum beats, but I need to study those transitions more.

Mayuko:

Not only that one segue, but that last set esp amazed me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:23pm
Doug Schulkind:

@Mayuko
That segue with Melvin Jackson was a complete accident! I hadn't planned on playing that track until seconds before I realized I had enough time to fit it in.
Avatar 7:26pm
Jesse K:

Please pardon the skipping around here
Avatar 7:27pm
Mayuko:

@Doug I know! You mentioned that. That's why I was even more amazed! I always have to think of segues beforehand sometimes for like a couple days, haha. I guess as I get more experienced, I will be able to make spontaneous decisions that work. Or maybe it's just the matter of being bold.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:29pm
Doug Schulkind:

Another way of saying be bold is just trust your instincts.

I just saw an illustration of "zodiac man" in an old anatomical book whose body parts are explained with 12 zodiacs. it's interesting to see these images showing people have many different ideas about human body.

Alf from Upstate:

I dig those records Okay Temiz did with the South Africans. Very very great.
Avatar 7:41pm
Jesse K:

@Mayuko, yes! I've been digging for images of anatomical and botanical models and such, some of these images are old Tibetan anatomical drawings.
Avatar 7:43pm
Jesse K:

@Ali, welcome! He made some great records, I think I played one he did with Johnny Dyani once

He's definitely my cool uncle. He retired a few years ago from playing bari sax in the Junius Courtney big band. Though the site still has a band photo with him standing second from the left.
