Favoriting Brian Turner: Playlist from May 3, 2016 Favoriting

Order and disorder in a freeform haze of terribly-played guitars, shorted-out electronics, found audio detritus, strange sounds from strange lands all around. Psych-punk-junk, collage, even pop. Lots of in-studio live performances to boot.

yeh the whole town smoldered thru the 80s, and then they moved everyone out. Dunno how safe it was sitting there for that cover pic haha. They were passing thru there between Pottsville PA gig and NYC with fIREHOSE in 86

Electric guitar is mid-20th Century stuff. Tubes? Nothing else like it...Completely unnecessary now - in a way...
Avatar 4:57pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

I mean - everything's unnecessary now...just have digital simulations - & machines to experience them...
  4:59pm
Cliff:

Computers haven't become sentient yet... (and maybe never will, though don't try to tell an AI researcher that!)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:03pm
coelacanth:

but digital simulation of tubes does not sound like tubes. it's an unreasonable facsimile.
(i guess folks who didn't grow up with a beautiful fisher amp might not know that though.)
  5:06pm

Hey Brian, I looked up Kimamanahibi on discogs, if you give me the track # I can try to translate the title for you
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:06pm

(i've got no glasses on and my hands are behind my back, if anyone wants to hit me in the face.)
  5:14pm
Cliff:

Nah, just messin' with you coelacanth...just found it funny to see someone rank Cookie Monster vocals over him, heh
  5:15pm
Cliff:

While misspelling his name besides
Avatar 5:17pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...well - he has a distinctive voice (he sounds like him) - which is half the battle in Pop/Rawk - & he's basically intelligible (I can tell the words - which helps in this case w/ the good writing, but isn't even a prime virtue in singing necessarily)...he communicates inflections (irony, what have you) - even as his style tends to a kind of spoken monotone, itself a certain effect...'cetera...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:18pm
coelacanth:

hey, i was pretty happy with myself for remembering the double double in his name!
Avatar 5:18pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Oh - I thot you were talking about MES...
