"I listened yesterday. It's no reflection on you but I could'nt see where you were going or what you were going for. This early seventies thing did'nt get noticed the first time and you talk about friends of like Dealney and Bonnie who had records out like we're supposed to remember who they are. Then you play this long winded free jazz stuff that really grates on my nerves. And that noise without a beat and sounds like someones being pinched. Then you play a reggae song, I think you called it Dub, to what, be cool? You seem to really fetishize the whole folk thing too which is obnoxious to us who don't even care. I liked it when you played that punk song though. I like Joe Belock a lot." (Visit homepage.)

This song is really really really slow paced.

Good morning Cooh John.
Avatar Wed. 6/29/16 7:09am Wild Neil:

Slow is cool John Allen. Hey man, its your show! Slow is the antidote to modern living...
  Wed. 6/29/16 7:12am Cooh John:

Some of us remember the good ol' slow days. When I was a kid, stores were closed on Sundays and streets were empty of traffic.
Avatar Wed. 6/29/16 7:13am Wild Neil:

Digging this live Jazz...learning as I go...@Cooh John-yeah, if you needed money, you had to wait until the bank was open and you could make a withdrawl...although you could cash a check at the supermarket if they knew you....I only remember back to about 1970....
Avatar Wed. 6/29/16 7:14am John Allen:

whose childhood summers weren't interminably slow as a kid. thank jazz we are now pushing forward

Summer treat-grilled corn on the cob (12 minutes on high) and Italian sausage (20 minutes on low). WOW they go together...and my work neighbor wants to try grilling halved peaches for dessert.Wow.
Avatar Wed. 6/29/16 7:51am Wild Neil:

@John-amazing moody music...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 🎃 Wed. 6/29/16 7:56am Stepchild:

Been loving the show this AM John.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 🎃 Wed. 6/29/16 8:00am Stepchild:

I'll miss OM a lot.

I'm so much more likely to find something I wasn't already looking for when I'm in a good record store than when I'm browsing somewhere online. Even the best online stores (Forced Exposure, SoundOHM) just don't capture that feeling...

@Stepchild-what is this OM that is closing, what record store? Is it in Manhattan or elsewhere in NY or NJ?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 🎃 Wed. 6/29/16 8:06am Stepchild:

Was just off Broadway in lower Manhattan -- 4th st

Other Music
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 6/29/16 8:10am Marcel M:

OM was one of the first NYC record stores I ever went to. A friend took me into the city from Jersey when I was in HS and took me to OM, Generation and Kims.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 🎃 Wed. 6/29/16 8:13am Stepchild:

Now that is a friend Marcel!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 6/29/16 8:14am Marcel M:

He was! Still is! Also took me to Mamouns.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 6/29/16 8:16am AndrewC.:

Even I've shopped in Other Music, and I've only been to NYC twice.
Avatar Wed. 6/29/16 8:16am Wild Neil:

Weren't there a couple of record stores on St. Marks Place? Like Venus records maybe?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 🎃 Wed. 6/29/16 8:17am Stepchild:

I had forgotten about Gen Ken's place. I remember seeing Merzbow in there. There is video somewhere of GK "playing" his front door with Merzbow's wall of noise pouring out and cutting off repeatedly
Avatar Wed. 6/29/16 8:18am Wild Neil:

Gen Ken-Generator. I was Jhan Dean Eggs roommate for awhile in the early 90's got exposed to that...
Avatar 🎃 Wed. 6/29/16 8:18am Sem Chumbo:

Thanks for this morning's music, John. Always a treat to hear such engaging artists. See you, and all, later.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 6/29/16 8:18am Marcel M:

@Wild Neil: There used to be a place called Rocket Scientist on St. Marks.. He had a good selection.
Avatar Wed. 6/29/16 8:22am Wild Neil:

75 Dollar Bill is amazing. Another DJ said his guitar sound Tuareg....
