A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Loretta Lynn carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

Hello Trouble. Not *too* grey in London today. Just been catching up on last week's show, so it's something of a Trouble marathon this week.

Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 4/20/17 10:50am The Oscar:

@Melinda I used to live by the Arnold Arboretum, and I do miss being able to wander over there. If you can get past the spookiness, Mt. Auburn Cemetery is a pretty wonderful arboretum in its own right, and a very cool place to spend an afternoon.
Thu. 4/20/17 10:51am Adrian in London:

@kevlicki The Lake is great. It was founded by the wonderful group Efterklang.

Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 4/20/17 11:39am The Oscar:

Thu. 4/20/17 11:39am Adrian in London:

@bobdoesthings Technically no, as proved by John Mortimer in the court case. I thought the comic effect would be better if I used an ellipsis, plus I didn't want to 'go below the waist', as it were.
Avatar Thu. 4/20/17 11:40am meredith:

@The Oscar @Melinda I had a picnic at Mt. Auburn Cemetery when I lived in Boston in the 90s. It was maybe the 3rd or 4th date with my (now) husband and probably the moment I feel hard for him. Lovely place lovely morning. I even remember what we ate. Iced coffee, strawberries, bagels and lox. *swoon* - twas probably 23 yrs ago? How time flies...
Avatar Thu. 4/20/17 11:40am bobdoesthings:

@adrian - ah, fair enough, thanks
Avatar Thu. 4/20/17 11:40am βrian:

An ellipsis is a kind grammatical treasure trail, when properly used.

I'm loving not only the great tunes but the free, high-level education from the listeners' comments.

The "You're the Greatest" song reminded me of my first love; Clark Gable and the song that Judy Garland sang to him, "Dear Mr. Gable", especially the lines: well you almost tripped over me on your way--it's kind of verbatim from this song.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 4/20/17 11:42am Devin B.:

Moloch also makes an appearance in one of Melville's Civil War poems: www.poetryfoundation.org...

@Devin: Nice. The young soldiers are compared to Moloch's child sacrificees. (That is now a word.)

Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 4/20/17 11:48am The Oscar:

@Meredith That's lovely :) I had been living in Boston for years before my girlfriend turned me onto Mt. Auburn. We try to go every couple of months or so, and I'm positive I haven't seen the whole thing. @Melinda Buckminster Fuller is the rock star there-- always a bunch of trinkets left on his grave. Plus, you know, a ton of founding fathers and Boston Brahmin.
