@dale - It's hard to get Japanese music sometimes! I discovered this band on a show bill in Tokyo (one of the members is a popular Japanese comedian Naoko Nozawa). They have a music vid on YT!

Even after all these years, it's hard for me to get used to the idea of DJ Keilidh as an ADULT. The years away, even though she'd DJd on WFMU for many years into adulthood, reinforce the impression of youth.

Then again, I keep thinking of people who haven't been on WFMU for years as if they were just on last week.

I was still thinking of you as a child DJ, the way I still think of Kamikaze Diane in terms of the records she played 25+ years ago. It's the lasting effect of early impressions.

Zabadak were (are) a Japanese band begun by Tomohiko Kira and Yoko Ueno. Yoko went solo around 1993 but Kirasan kept the name alive. Alas he passed away in 2016. I was lucky enough to see Yoko Ueno live a few years ago.

Check out "The Neighbors", with Nagato Iwasaki guitarist and songwriter. Bluesy folk, pretty great. I met his sister Sanai Iwasaki in Tokyo a couple of years ago in her art gallery.

To be honest, it does seem like Japanese J-Pop faltered compared to K-Pop… And the whole J-Pop world is really silly with a few actual artists and not a bunch of models just dancing in sync to synth pop.
