While I'm not a fan of loud music in the restaurant, I'd happily make an exception for this one. "Waiter, crank it!"

Just perusing Film Forum schedule, even though I'm not in the area, and I'd say Stranger's on a Train and Purple Noon is a great combo with the Highsmith connection. I might check out Goldfinger and A Hard Days Night just to see the incredibly beautiful Margaret Nolan who appears in both!

Ike:

Visually and atmospherically, "Akira" is astonishing and very influential but there was clearly way, way too much story for a movie there. The narrative is disjointed and seems to be missing a lot of important characterization. If it had been a miniseries it could've been even better -- except maybe then it would've have had the budget for those mind-destroying apocalyptic bits towards the end that'll scar you for life (in a good way).

The sentinel himself, I think, was John Carradine. The film all takes place in a beautiful old town house still on the Brooklyn Promenade. I can't walk past without thinking about that film. Employed real deformed folks as the denizens of hell.
