buddah - in a holding pattern. my sis's step son reached out to me. my bro in law as of sunday hadn't woken up from surgery after two days which was not a good sign. my sister started to lose coherence, didn't know where she was and her kidney values were suddenly nonexistent. they put her back in the icu and were going to put her on dialysis if nothing changed. i heard absolutely nothing yesterday. i'm just sort of numb.

Loved the Shonen Knife! I didn't actually hear them when I was in Japan. Most important Japanese music to me is Shibuya-kei or anything with Brazilian jazz influence. Or Polysics and Cherry Cokes for punk. But such a great whimsical feeling. Japan is great at evoking feelings of safe friendship through music.

That interview reminds me of this relative I have who works in the prison system, she spills the worst kind of vitriol and is totally oblivious to the systems weaknesses and failures. It's disheartening that someone whose whole life was supported by ill-conceived subsidy (I.E prisons in upstate New York) have no concern for people like Julius, and would not want to see them back on their feet and think this post-release state of affairs is acceptable. The Crime and Punishment stance in the U.S is too much for me. That's my maybe too political share of the day as I take a break from reading the Ottoman version of Leyla and Mecnun.
