Wull it's the cradle of Jazz if not all African-American Music - if / to extent a single locale could be. ...You think that's gonna happen @...Lincoln Center or something? It was whorehouses much as anywhere...
Thing gets me about N'Orleans - & I never been - is they say there's just Music in the air & everywhere more than any other place - in the U.S. @ least... That certainly intrigues me ...Another thing I think of is a guy in my neighborhood here went down after Katrina to help - & was a putting a door on a house & heard gunshots - so - door probly a real good idea...

Mmmm. Always hear that N'Orleans was more like the Caribbean than the USA - & that's why - there... The blend of Slaves making ProtoBlues - in fact Vodoun & plenty of it - & educated European Musicians happened - & various shades between. There was the 'paper bag' standard: you put your hand in the bag - & if you were lighter - you got in the dance or whatever... 'Creoles' & 'high yellows'... Then laws shifted big time & shades that shunned darker ones got thrown together & blended their Musics again... So - the Army Engineer Corp. builds & 'maintains' these damns... & it goes on... it's plain as day what their intention is for & what value they hold for our beloved Cradle of U.S.American Music & Culture...
