I felt that it added a seal of permission to the release of these with Otis Fodder who also brought Frank M. Young on board, on Comfort Stand records. They also added tracks to the collection as well. I may not be credited much for that or suggesting the release, but I’m just happy that these amazing recordings are out there. These are still available for free @ https://freemusicarchive.org/music/Joe_Meek/Joe_Meek_Demos (contains more demos than the Internet Archives version.)

I like Joe Meek. If he'd lived at a later time, his outsider reality might have not existed in the same way, and his weird recorded output might have been diluted, although he'd have been less the villain re. his affection for young men, but he is as he is, and he IS fascinating.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:59pm

And speaking of which, Mrs. Miller looks like she's ready to peg somebody.

Hi Chresti :) Joe Meek is an obsession of mine... If you couldn't tell... :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:08pm
StringOFperils:

IN his way, Joe Meek is a bit like Lee Scratch Perry. Working all on his own, a mad scientist of army-surplus electronics and how to completely wire up a house so you can record things in the staircases and the bathrooms, in order to make noise that no one has ever heard before....and then getting it boosted into a national hi parade somehow.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:08pm

Mark R:

I could imagine being held in a pit like in "Silence of the Lambs" while Joe Meek works upstairs, simultaneously cutting records and doing god knows what on his sewing machine, starving me until my skin was loose enough to add to his suit of human skin.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:19pm
StringOFperils:

Hugely influential. Forced to live in shadows. Not the first. Oscar Wilde, Alan Turing, etc etc. Unfortunate that in his case the pressure drove him 'round the bend.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:20pm
StringOFperils:

He was less the monster than the world in which he lived and died.

Mrs. Miller's "Downtown" is possibly the greatest record I've ever heard in my life.

Lex De Azevado local music producer of Mrs. Miller refused to talk about her for Cool and Strange Music Magazine... His wife answered anyway and said, "Don't ever call us about this ever again! (Click)

Mark R:

Ah, I can see you're now going to play this entire album, for which you should be both knighted and have your FCC license revoked, even though the FCC doesn't cover online programmings.

I'm not sure which is the better version of "Chim Chim Cheree," Mrs. Miller's or John Coltrane's.
