  2:22pm gene sculatti:

Killer Kascades!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:22pm Dennis Diken:

yeah Todd, good ear, didn't catch that til you mentioned it! sounds like Bobby Graham on drums on that one
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:23pm Gaylord Fields:

The Cascades are so much better than their underserved reputation as wimpy singing popsters.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:25pm Dennis Diken:

gene - glad you're here! you know it, what a fabulous double sided single by those Cascades (c/w "My Best Girl") ! and Gaylord - no argument here!
Avatar 2:25pm Reechie:

Busy doin' stuff, but we've got you tuned in!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:26pm Gaylord Fields:

And i meant "undeserved," not "underserved" — I might have been overserved.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:26pm Dennis Diken:

thanks Reechie!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:27pm Dennis Diken:

@Gaylord - make mine a double!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:28pm Gaylord Fields:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:52pm myron feld:

On my car radio, this Delfonics song displays as "Didn't I Blow You." Never fails to bring a chuckle.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:53pm Dennis Diken:

@myron - wasn't that the original title?
Avatar 2:53pm Surferbhoy:

A Pomus and Shuman special would be a GREAT show! There's lovely Doc film on You Tube! Worth a watch.
  2:54pm Sissophonic Cheryl:

myron feld, ahahahahahaha!
Avatar 2:56pm HyperDose:

Those vocals left me speechless!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:57pm Dennis Diken:

@Surferbhoy, indeed it would! I gotta watch that Doc piece, he was the most! his bio "Lonely Avenue" is a great read. yeah HyperDose! but not typeless!
Avatar 2:58pm Surferbhoy:

I saw Stevie in Edinburgh, Scotland in the 80's. He did a Karaoke bit asking if someone wanted to sing. A wee woman got up and asked if he could play Leo Sayer's "When I Need You!" He said "You start it..." She did, and played along with her!! Hysterical and amazing!
Avatar 2:59pm Todd-o-phonic Todd:

@Hackensack Slim @Dennis Diken: In 2024 maybe we can have a Denizens Of The Den meet and greet at Bowler City.
Avatar 2:59pm Michael Shelley:

I just tuned it to find out if you managed to get your turntables repaired.
Avatar 2:59pm Todd-o-phonic Todd:

Philly style!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:02pm Gaylord Fields:

Eddie's his name! Singing really high is his game!
Avatar 3:06pm Hackensack Slim:

Todd, 2024? Do you know something that I don't?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:06pm Dennis Diken:

@Surferbhoy - that's cool! Stevie hung out at the AES shows in NYC in '18 & '19. he was very approachable and cool! @Todd - ha! yeah, man! @Michael - yes, it took some doing! @Gaylord - ha! I knew you'd dig that cut, sending it our to you my pal!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:08pm Gaylord Fields:

Thanks, DD! It was the utmost! Eddie is so much more than his one monster soul hit!
  3:10pm Mike Conroy:

Loved that Thornetta Davis tune. Had a college roommate who was a huge Maynard Ferguson nut - takes me back.
Avatar 3:10pm OnTheTrain:

When I was a kid I always wanted to play trumpet this good. Then I discovered the Tuba .
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:14pm Dennis Diken:

@Mike - here to please! @OnTheTrain - the trumpet is lighter to haul
Avatar 3:14pm Andrew in Toronto:

Great anecdote Dennis
Avatar 3:15pm OnTheTrain:

Denny: Very true but playing the tuba is so much fun. I also do not have the "Cool" to play the trumpet like that .
Avatar 3:15pm Wild Honey:

Dave says Barry played drums on The Magic Touch. Allegedly
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:16pm Dennis Diken:

@Andrew, thanks! @OnTheTrain - do you do sessions?? @Wild Honey - thanks! news we can use!
  3:26pm Joeybug69:

Howdy Dennis! And Happy New Year!
Stan Kenton, Maynard Ferguson, AND Buddy Rich each played my junior high school back in ‘69 or ‘70. And I taped them on a Sears Silvertone reel-to-reel, a perk from being on stage crew. I think they’re around somewhere but probably need to be baked at some point, if it’s not too late.

Also, Doc Pomus used to come to shows at the BLT, and he was very pleasant to us staff members. I personally wheeled him in on several occasions...

Thanks for the tunes!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:31pm Dennis Diken:

@Joeybug69 -very cool, yeah, hung with Doc alot. Donna was the only waitress he would let wait on him at The Bottom Line!
Avatar 3:33pm Dave the Spazz:

Hi Dennis--Great Elvis set!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:33pm Dennis Diken:

@Spazz - thanks pal! it means alot!
Avatar 3:33pm Hackensack Slim:

Joeybug69 Your Jr High was a lot cooler than mine.
Avatar 3:34pm HyperDose:

I swear Elvis could have played a show at the Grand Canyon. Those pipes were something else.
  3:35pm Joeybug69:

Nice! I thought he had lived nearby, but I may be mistaken. Of course Lou Reed lived around the corner. Used to see him walking the dog. He tried to have me fired because I wouldn’t give him a bottle of vodka during sound check one time. Stan had to come down & straighten him out. : /
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:39pm Dennis Diken:

@Joeybug - Doc lived on the west side around or on 72nd St. I guess Lou needed "his man" - unavailable at the Bottom Line!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:46pm myron feld:

As "T.U.S.A." played, I couldn't help but "sing" the words to "Pressed Rat And Warthog." Mr. Baker had that certain style!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:49pm Dennis Diken:

@myron - what's wrong with "Blue Condition"?!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:50pm myron feld:

@Dennis: not a dadblasted thing!
  3:50pm Mike Conroy:

Myron - me too!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:51pm Dennis Diken:

@myron - remind me next time to tell the story of when I actually "discussed" "Blue Condition" with GB!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:52pm myron feld:

@Dennis: please tell me it didn't end with him striking you with his cane.
Avatar 3:52pm Todd-o-phonic Todd:

Another great show in the books!
Avatar 3:52pm Andrew in Toronto:

Thanks for another great show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:53pm Gaylord Fields:

Thanks, Dennis! See you next time, count on it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:53pm Dennis Diken:

@myron - verbally! thanks Todd and Andrew, it means a lot! you too young Gaylord!
Avatar 3:53pm HyperDose:

Thanks for a great vocal-centric show & mid-week pick me up! Take care Dennis, I'm sure I'll see you around here somewhere. :p
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:53pm myron feld:

You made another grim week better, Dennis -- thanks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:54pm Dennis Diken:

@HyperDose and myron - deeply appreciated!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:55pm Dennis Diken:

THANKS FOR TUNING IN YON DENIZENS! LOVE YOU ALL MADLY!!
