Hi, Dennis! I literally LOL'd at your Bobby Rydell choice!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:04pm
Gaylord Fields:

Also, it's a great Tony Hatch song/production!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:05pm

Very good afternoon.

Hello, Denizens!

Mrs. Feld said earlier, "It certainly is a new day in America: the First Lady isn't swatting away the president's hand."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:09pm
Dennis Diken:

@Gaylord - did Michael Shelley interview TH once? also, it's been said that "Forget Him" informed the writing of "She Loves You"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:10pm
Chop Scott:

Good Afternoon Dennis & all!

Avatar 2:12pm
Reechie:

So is this The Ohio Express or The Rare Breed? ;)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:14pm
Dennis Diken:

you got it Hackensack Slim! do tell Reechie?
Avatar 2:15pm
Reechie:

Same record, two different names.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:18pm
Gaylord Fields:

Dennis, that's correct. John & Paul got the idea of writing SLY as addressing a second person from "Forget Him."
  2:18pm
gene sculatti:

Great show-start, Dennis! Five Discs forever.
Avatar 2:19pm
Reechie:

The Rare Breed first released "Beg Borrow And Steal" in '66 on the Attack label. Did not chart. Cameo re-released the same record in 67 as The Ohio Express. Went to #29.
Avatar 2:22pm
Reechie:

Rhino was able to include "Beg Borrow And Steal" on the "Nuggets" box set by crediting it as "The Rare Breed", after ABKCO wouldn't let them use it as by "The Ohio Express".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:23pm
Dennis Diken:

@Gaylord - I think the upward motion on the verse melody might figure in as well? thanks Gene! @Reechie - new we can use, thanks!
Avatar 2:28pm
Todd-o-phonic Todd:

Thanks for the rave on the playlist Dennis! Enjoying this "deep cut" by The Vacant Lot!

Reechie, I was wondering why it wasn't on my Ohio Express compilation but that explains it, predating Buddah. Hey TOPT

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:38pm
Gaylord Fields:

Dennis, of course you're right about "Forget Him" having that ascending melody in common too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:39pm
Dennis Diken:

@Gaylord - and perhaps they got "yeah, yeah, yeah" from Rydell's "We Got Love"?
Avatar 2:41pm
Todd-o-phonic Todd:

@Dennis Diken: If you need a copy of that 45..."it can be arranged".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:42pm
Gaylord Fields:

@Dennis: Ha, possibly! However, no "Wildwood Fun" influence detected in the Fab Four.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:42pm

"Wildwood Days," I mean.

@Andrew - no argument here! @Todd & Sissophonic - good, we need laughter. and in answer to your next statement...keep listening, pal!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:04pm

Evening all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:05pm
Gaylord Fields:

Todd, I recall seeing the Soul Stirrers, with the requisite Sam Cooke soundalike doing a faithful version of "Touch the Hem of His Garment," with you. Not certain where we dined, but it wasn't the place that served the "Penalty Box Burger"!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:05pm
