Brooklyners- I read in an emerging technologies book that areas of Brooklyn trade solar energy

That concept is brilliant; the sharing economy and gig economy and such hasn’t really taken off too much in Minneapolis.

Really cool concepts though. Im somewhat anti 9-5 which I certainly don’t oppose (and is changing because of current circumstances of the past year). I just don’t like the rigid image of “working stiff and fighting days” it is fighting reality essentially. But cheers to keeping progress progressive.

@tim abdellah - it may blow your mind even more to learn (as I did only a few years ago) that (for quite a long time) the pan-Hellenic "empire" (or sphere of influence) was much, much larger than modern Greece is today - spanning basically all of the coastal areas of the black sea, much of modern Turkey, off into Iran and central Asia

Lots of tracks on WFMU lately remind me of Klaxon Gueule, who happen to have a new album. This Giannis Arapis is one of them.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:31pm
Gary:

I'll have to look up Klaxon

Then you have Iannis Xenakis, one of my favorite composers, who was born to Greek parents in Romania, had almost half of his face blown off while being a partisan in Yugoslavia, then moved to France after the war (and became a French citizen).

I think I mentioned last week, that Greek colleague gifted me some rembetika rekkids he inherited from his father, as he knew I'd appreciate them.

Chresti, I think kif is softer powder, or buds, of cannabis intended for making into hash. From North Africa - Algeria, Morocco I think. {?}
Avatar 9:49pm
tim abdellah:

I think what they call kif in the States may not be the same as what kif is in Morocco. In Morocco it's very finely chopped cannabis, smoked in a tiny clay pipe bowl. Brings you up and down quickly and gently!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:49pm
Gary:

Dean, how about some BASEMENT Greek?

Heh, there y'are.

Roza is one of the most famous Rembetika stars. Rembetika was music of sailors, hash smokers, and other social outcasts. I believe she was Roma-Jewish.

Thanks, Gary, kick-ass show!.
