Whose tallyman is that? I think I know.
Its owner is quite sad though.
It really is a tale of woe,

And sobs until the tears make.

Never forget the southern and confederative jeff.
I cannot help but stop and look at the wooly harvey.

Walking dogs in icy conditions adds to the frustration!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:46am Candy-O'67:

Yeah, by the time that hit, I just had to let the pup out in the back yard. We tried one evening to walk and got about three houses and it was too slippery for me, for sure. Turned around. We did have a nice time when it was just powder snow. I got a full leg workout in that, although I looked like an Eskimo with how bundled up I was
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:48am drowsy:

Nothing like pure snow before civilization (and dogs) discolor it. I'm glad you got to enjoy that before the snow hit the fan.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:48am Candy-O'67:

We have no snow plows or anything, of course, and you couldn't tell where the sidewalk met the street that first day. It was a trip! It was when no cars had been out yet

You make me nostalgic when I had to walk 7 miles home in the blizzard of 2013(?)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:51am drowsy:

I have lived through power outages and blizzards, but not at the same time! I've XC skied down 5th Ave in NYC, and had to sleep in a datacenter when I got stuck during an outage - but that was for AC, not heat!
Avatar 12:52am The Ayatolluh of Rock 'n Rolluh:

Yeah, I have yet to check that (outage and blizzard) off my list
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:52am drowsy:

@ARR don't you live upstate NY where mild storms dump a foot?
Avatar 12:53am The Ayatolluh of Rock 'n Rolluh:

No, I'm in the fish head part of the land mass that makes Long Island (Brooklyn)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:54am Candy-O'67:

I think this was a first for a whole lot of peeps, outage during a blizzard. There's a lot of people who are from the cold parts of the country who live here and I think they were tripped out, too, that our power grid couldn't handle this kind of cold!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:54am drowsy:

Nice! The Austin of the North.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:55am Candy-O'67:

Drowsy, thanks for the comparison. Rolluh has never been to Austin or TX, for that matter. So, he doesn't know what it's like here ;)

I barely know what it's like 10 miles from my apartment - I'm going for the Emanuel Kant travel boy-scout badge
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:58am drowsy:

I've only been to Austin once. (Sadly not for SXSW.) I hope to back for the electric car show if they have that again. I left there with four cabbies/Ubers giving me four totally different reasons for why living in Austin is great. 10/10 would move there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:00am drowsy:

Dang @ARR - that is hilarious. If you get to another borough you've bested Kant at something!

Damn it...I moved here from Queens...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:02am Candy-O'67:

That's cool, Drowsy! I'm from Houston originally and I used to come to SXSW back in the '90's when it was $10 for a wristband and was so small, just a few clubs down on 6th Street.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:03am Candy-O'67:

I lived in Southern California for 14 1/2 years before I moved to Austin, as well. I've been here 7 years next month
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:04am Candy-O'67:

Where do you live, Drowsy? It seems like we chatted on here before. Did I remember Portland or up that way?
Avatar 1:04am Mod Mokka Matti:

Hallo. Ich bin hier.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:04am drowsy:

That is awesome Candy. Wow, you've done the reverse reverse migration. I heard that the cali refugees were legion, but you have title and claim to be there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:05am Candy-O'67:

Haha, yes, I do! They have about taken over!

I've been alternating between New Haven and New Hampshire since Covid made us all telecommuters. Grew up in Boston, school in Chicago, NYC for a decade then landed in CT.

Let's stay upbeat The Ayatolluh of Rock 'n Rolluh
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:07am Candy-O'67:

Oh, wow! So, you're an East Coaster, too. I don't know how you guys do the snow every year. One week of it and I was done for forever!! hahaha!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:07am drowsy:

So I felt that when you mentioned the fireplace having/not having divide...
Avatar 1:08am The Ayatolluh of Rock 'n Rolluh:

It;s in the blood, Candy
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:08am Candy-O'67:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:10am drowsy:

Its all fun and games until you have to pole-vault a New York slush backup every corner! I don't miss that @ARR.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:18am Candy-O'67:

Night, Drowsy! Nice chatting with you, as well
Avatar 1:20am Mod Mokka Matti:

I just drank a huge tumbler of coffee and now I'm super sleepy. It doesn't make any sense. Nor do my sustained allergies. Of course I was out pruning back old fronds of sword ferns today, so there's that.
Avatar 1:22am Owl Sun:

Let's not worry The Ayatolluh of Rock 'n Rolluh
Avatar 1:22am Owl Sun:

Indeed drowsy
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:22am Candy-O'67:

MMM, if I drink coffee and I'm not sleepy when I drink it, it will make me sleepy - opposite effect. I have to be sleepy to drink caffeine. Sounds like you might be the same way.
Avatar 1:23am The Ayatolluh of Rock 'n Rolluh:

The ferns are in foliage?
Avatar 1:28am Owl Sun:
