Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:34pm
Candy-O'67:

I met Archie Bell the summer of '19 at the Tighten Up festival in Houston that August. I met him at the record swap on Saturday before he performed that night. Very cool guy! He and his wife live in Austin now. She was there, too, along with his about 10 yr old daughter. The kid got up on stage and danced at the show, too. I think she's either adopted or a child of one of his kids.

I don't understand what Mr. Diken is saying about the Dave Clark 5. What are the facts in controversy?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:15pm
myron feld:

re: DC5: Rick Huxley's bass dive at 0:02 of "Glad All Over" is one of the 23 greatest moments in rock and roll.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:18pm
Dennis Diken:

@Listener Robert - it is written that session man Bobby Graham played on many DC5 rekkids. there's no solid proof and some say it ain't so
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:19pm
Dennis Diken:

@myron - that's another point made in Bobby's book - he says it was a studio bassist on the DC5 sides...?!
  3:19pm
ChrisB.:

Maryanne Price from Dan Hicks Hot Licks on backing vocals.
  3:20pm
Listener Robert:

Thanks, Mr. Diken. Has he taken credit himself, like maybe long after the fact?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:20pm
myron feld:

@Dennis: I hate finding out my idols have feet of clay. Well, Jack Bruce's bass dive, then.....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:22pm
Dennis Diken:

@Listener Robert - Bobby wrote about it in his book Session Man, he said it was 40 years after the fact so he felt ok talking about it. @myron - purportedly, its Eric Ford on bass on said DC5 cuts

  3:39pm
Listener Robert:

Also, the experience of LISTENING to a recording can MIMICK the experience of PLAYING, to someone who plays at that level. It's like how I could easily convince myself I've driven past somewhere because I did it on Google Maps Street View some time back.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:44pm
Mike Sin:

@Dennis - Thanks, man!
Avatar 3:44pm
HyperDose:

@Listener Robert I know exactly what you mean. Haven't been able to play drums since I moved out 11yrs ago. Used to play 2+ hrs a day. Now I throw on the cans and "play along" to stuff every night. It's my pre-bed ritual. One day I'll be able to hit the skins again...I hope!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:45pm
Dennis Diken:

@Listener Robert - this is true. plus some session musicians may have played on different versions of a given record - or even a different artist's version and it becomes a foggy memory. or sometime they played on a TV track of a hit that the artist did a live vocal for. etc etc
