I like the stuff with Vince Clark as well, but clearly he had to find his own way.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:43pm
David (in London):

I liked the way Vince Clark's departure allowed Martin Gore to flourish, but I can't help but think that his career never quite achieved the longevity it might have done as a result. That said, apparently he is known for growing bored of projects quite quickly, so I guess he was really his own worst enemy in that respect. DM remain ace 40 years later.

@3:50 David (in London): now that's a proper night out, A. Moyet & Tears for Fears, envy here. Did you see the Yazoo reunion shows? I completely missed them, lived in UK back then, but have heard about it only a few years ago. There were US & European shows as well.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 3:56pm
Handy Haversack:

Also, ฮฒrian, the dog actually did shop today! I was looking for a place to tie him up outside the grocery store, and the manager said to just bring him inside. "You sure? It's OK?" "Ahh, they're more human than we are."

OK then.

I wasn't going to turn it down, but let's just say that Bagpipe did not devote himself to making the wheeled basket any easier to handle.

Chris, my dr. told me that two weeks after the first, you're pretty much 92 percent immune. The second boosts it only marginally but extends the duration greatly. So you can start breathing at least a little easier now!

We have a bit of a dilemma in my household regarding the vaccine. My middle son does not want to get it. A handful of years ago he had a really bad reaction to a medication and had a psychotic break requiring hospitalization. Although it was from an interaction between a couple different meds for a mood disorder, he doesn't want to have anything to do with any meds (except for pot -- he's more than ok with that). I don't want him to have to do anything he doesn't want to do (he's 25 so what can I do anyway, right?), and the rest of us will be fully vaccinated by the end of the first week in April. But damn, I worry about him, particularly since he is in sales

Normal was pretty awful and soul- and life-destructive -- but we could see our friends and bands. It would have been nice if we took this occasion to leave normal in the dust (e.g., "the economy is suffering? guess what -- we don't need an economy").

That said, hopefully soon we can see more and more of our friends and bands.

Phillippe, i feel that. my wife got GBS (a shitty neurological disorder) from a flu vaccine a few years ago. it was a very long process to get her informed about how the covid vaccine we got differs from the flu shot. def. one of the bravest things she's done recently, regardless.

@TDK60 I was very close with my old neighbor who lived across the hall (passed away last year, not COVID). I'd help him out with tech stuff, cleaning, groceries, and was always happy to stop by for a gossip. Didn't realize that his companionship was beneficial to me too. I miss him dearly as I'm sure you do your neighbor, and I'm very sorry for your loss.

Mais oui, Sylvia. Intro- or extro-, we all lost a lot of the things that psychically let us feel safe, and that's a trauma. And that's not what the "recovery" is focusing on. We should all be OK with acknowledging that we have been and are being traumatized. You gotta let yourself feel it sometimes.

@chris there are definitely weird things that can happen from the flu vaccines, good and bad. I used to get sinus infections all the time, haven't in a number of years. I was talking to a work friend about that and she said she had the same experience. Her doctor attributed it to a flu shot, and darn if that doesn't seem to be the same thing for me. HyperDose and WaffleMix (and all interNal capiTals): We started our 18-yr.-old cat on Standard Process's Renal Support and Whole Body Support supplements a couple of years back, and it was revolutionary. Handy, we had absolutely the coolest nature thing I've ever seen in person last week (forgive me if I've said this before cuz I've told EVERYONE!). An osprey swooped down and grabbed a rather large fish from out of the cove and tried to fly off. He was having trouble getting and staying airborne, the fish was so darn big. He circled around and dropped the fish, which had apparently expired because it floated right back to the surface. Before the osprey could circle back for another attempt, a big-ass freakin' bald eagle swooped down and grabbed the fish! The osprey then chased the eagle around the bend, so I'm not sure how the story ended, I doubt they shared the fish and a bottle of wine

Think Lou Reed/VU meets The Only Ones (or late 70s/early 80s british stuff in general) meets Iggy(solo & stooges), mixed with a smoky jazz nightclub feel.
