A live, improvised sound collage experiment, going back 28 years, weaving mesmerizing new soundscapes from found and collected materials right in the present moment.
Pop music, speeches, live phone calls and spontaneous monologues become ambient loopy layered threads riding the liminal spaces between waking and dreaming. [On hiatus.] (Visit homepage.)

Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

This is probably an early demo of "there are no mistakes." I do remember what it felt like to be there that day, during the show, and I even remember choosing these bathroom sounds. But I don't quite remember how this odd noise came about.
Avatar 3:36pm
Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

In fact I remember the bathroom visit we're hearing. Odd that I remember more and more about this moment as I listen. Many shows I simply don't remember what it was like to make. Perhaps because this was a non-repeating location.

I wonder why I wasn't using Winamp yet, even though I'd been using it at home for 3 years by this time
Avatar 3:47pm
Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Scratch that, this is probably Winamp. But I couldn't play more than one sound at once with it, due to sound driver limitations of Windows 95. Two laptops doubled things, plus I was running...I wish I remembered what...some sort of delay/processing software on one of them. I wonder if it was AudioMulch, but I don't think so.
Avatar 3:49pm
Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

I borrowed one of the laptops, and borrowed this gigantic mixing board, which someone generously also brought to me for a few other shows. Buying a little board would've been easier, but deliberate sharing culture and the resultant politics and aesthetics have always appealed to me.
Avatar 3:52pm
Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Mixing board from Corey, Secret Agent Gel, who himself carried it down from upstate NY where my radio show life had begun
