McGroovey:

I saw them a couple times in Albany. Once was at VFW hall, with Gone and I think DC3, and band from Montreal called... It's slipping my mind, but they were also great, and I ran out and bought their record.

And the other time was probably at the same VFW hall, and it was with ... Maybe Gone also, and that metal band that was on SST.... Saint Vitus, whose eyes no one ever saw because they had long hair and they were looking at the floor and headbanging the whole time

Huh. Here's the flyer from the Black Flag/Saint Vitus show. It was Tom Traccolli's Dog, not Gone. hardcoreshowflyers.net...

Keith Morris used to make me lattes at a breakfast place in Silverlake.

Good story, chresti, but not as good as when I mistakenly read it as "latkes."

I don't think they made latkes?

McGroovey:

I may have been at this Black Flag show in 1986, with Painted Willie and Gone. I think my cousin Matt promoted the show.

And I had a show of painting in Echo Park and Keith Morris and Donita Sparks came in, looked around, sniffed and left.

The band from Montreal was The Asexuals. Now I can finally sleep.

Grandpas on the list, can you explain to us how in the hell there was a time when The Replacement's label was like, "Husker Du? Yeah, no, that's a bit too much for us."
