Dan and all the Fried. Out in the sun all day and feeling pretty Fried already -- and excited for TWO hours!

Also, Dan, I'm going to miss this show so much over the summer. Hope you're coming back in the fall.

@WHH, make sure to record that! Fingers crossed, I'll be back in the fall in the same old spot. And I'm sure Vicki will take good care of you all over the summer.

I'm guessing I'm going to have go Blind Tourist live and catch up with the first half of Oh, My Soul on archives....hate to have to split the baby like this.

Speaking of Fibonaccis and archives, Stop Hitting Yourself in the Sheena's Jungle Room did a great hour long tribute to the band of that name recently that is really worth listening to wfmu.org...

@HyperDose, yeah, it's probably akin to the Red Bull Music Academy. Weird how good their events were. Seeing Diamanda Galas play in the dark in a deserted Harlem church with the only light coming from little Red Bull logos was a *little* jarring tho...

Hi, Dan. After a spinal adjustment, eye drop dilation, pain-killer injection, and vocal-cord scraping, Mr Burns cheats death for another week. With luck, he'll make it to the fall to greet you again.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:36pm

@Ken, oof -- stay strong my friend! Rest up after that, sounds rough. Just do shooters of nuclear waste off Smithers' chest and you'll be fine.

Carmichael:

@Handy, no I didn’t see that. Will have to check the archive.
Avatar 6:37pm
HyperDose:

@Dan I've seen quite a few bands shooting live shows in old churches in recent years. Perfect acoustics aside, all of the angles and high ceilings give you lots of options to play with lighting!

@Handy No judgements here. I'm someone who used to call the PATH the subway...yeah I don't do that anymore haha If you and K8 are into aimless wandering in hopes of stumbling upon a fantastic hole-in-the-wall restaurant or mom & pop shop, then Bayonne is the place for you!

"The history of other European nation-states is that of linguistic communities serving their trade needs. France created itself by destroying five cultures -- Breton, Occitan, Alsatian, Corsican, and Flemish. We are the only European nation which is the military creation of a non-homogeneous State. This makes France difficult to govern to this day. This explains our difficulty in reforming, our slowness" -- Michel Rocard

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:49pm
Dan Bodah:

@headcleaner, interesting that I have an ancestor who was born in Schenectady in the 1670s to a Dutch family, then apparently captured by natives and brought to Quebec, where she was baptized Catholic in her late 20s. The baptismal record says she was born in "le pays des Flamans" -- the country of the Flemish! In Schenectady. So not Dutch, but Flemish. Some framework of ethnicity going on there I've never fully understood.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:50pm
Dan Bodah:

@Richard S -- thanks so much! I'm going to miss doing this every Monday! Really hope to be back in September.
Avatar 7:51pm
Richard S:

@headlcleaner - that probably explains why France is so "obsessed" with being French and nothing else. No "Algerian-French", no "Caribbean-French", no "Muslim French". It's FRENCH and ONLY French. They don't want cultural identities pulling them apart....
