Good Evening Ira all

Hey Ira , Georgia, & fellow enthusiasts!

Hail and Farewell, Ira!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:09pm

I thought about watching a movie tonight but thought naaah, Ira's show sounds like more fun. Happy to see you on the summer schedule, Mr. "The K"!
Vince from Pearl:

Greetings Ira, Georgia and everyone! Long may the Mets rule!

Very happy to be back, Oxidized. Good evening everyone. (Not said in my Alfred Hitchcock voice this week. Gotta shake it up.)

I bet Steve Wynn played this in his high school band.
Rick G:

Tuesday greetings Ira and all. Got my swag today, as i apparently needed more WFMU shirts, haha.

PJ--but probably not as well!

This is some crazy chaos. I was in the next room and this BOC cover sounded like some crazed New Zealand noise band. Loved it.

Tom E:

Is that dream syndicate cover from here? I haven’t listened yet, but this looked great.

@RevRab: Def heard some Stooges in there
@Ira: Those preppy high school kids didn't dig the Ig. It was all Journey, Rush, VH, Zep, and occasionally, stuff like BOC.

The Waldron/Portosol segue was a seamless beauty. I also thought about watching a movie, Oxidized, but Ira is showing us movies for the Third Eye.

Joining Ira already in progress, and the first thing I hear is B.J. Thomas singing about crackers and cheese, and Coca-Cola. Not what I expected :)

Hi, Ira! Wow, so many versions of Jealous Guy. That Peter Criss was pretty sweet!

Franco Twinkie:

I remember when I first heard Hooked on a Feeling when I was in the 7th grade. I just KNEW B.J. Thomas was talking about something fundamental as wrapping peanut butter sandwiches in wax paper.

please tell me BJ is playing all the instruments on this

Thomas’ dad was a preacher, and he grew up Christian. I know this because I mistakenly thought he “found” God.

Showing up in your pajamas, probably not a great move

A rare Tuesday night without band practice! Happy to “be here now.”

Ira have you ever seen the Boomtown Rats and Crack the Sky in the same place - at the same time ??
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:20pm

More ppl here wear pajamas than pants

Especially in public
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:20pm
Franco Twinkie:

Oh come on Ira, I do that all the time. It's a shirt for fucks sake! Not a pajama top like Dagwood would wear, right?
  Swag For Life Member 10:20pm

absmiami, I've never seen Crack the Sky in any place.

well, you need to get out more often !

I don't know why, but Crack the Sky seemed to have a lot of fans on Long Island when I was growing up there. I never saw Crack The Sky and The Good Rats in the same place either.

although I'll have to admit - IVE never seen the Boomtown Rats ...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:24pm

Crack the Sky actually have a new album out, or coming out soon. True story. I think.
  Swag For Life Member 10:25pm
Bruce S.:

You just reminded me of the Good Rats I haven't heard them in the 21st century gotta pull them out
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:26pm

Yeah that 3rd chord in the BJ Thomas tune was weird. (Still processing) ;)

2 votes for the Good Rats
  Swag For Life Member 10:30pm

Saw the Boomtown Rats, maybe more than once. Divided by the number of times I saw Crack the Sky + Good Rats = infinity. Not defending my concert choices, just reporting them.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:30pm

Hey there team
Avatar 10:31pm
John L:

I saw the Good Rats a few times. Not sure how well their music holds up. There is a nice little film called "Roadie," in 2011, about a a guy who gets fired off a BOC tour. At one point he is hanging out with an ex and they listen to Good Rats records. I was hit with a small wave of nostalgia, but not enough to try and get back into them.
Michael Shore:

one thing's for sure, neither Bob Geldof nor Jon Palumbo could play the baseball bat like Pepe Marchello.
Avatar 10:33pm
John L:

Ira, I saw Kansas twice. No defense there, either. And Michael, I must have seen The Good Rats a half dozen times and never caught a rubber rat. Sigh.
  Swag For Life Member 10:34pm
Bruce S.:

The Good Rats never made that great record they'll always be remembered for. they played around alot though
  Swag For Life Member 10:35pm

I saw Kansas at least twice. I owe Crack the Sky a huge apology.
Avatar 10:38pm
John L:

The first time I saw Kansas I was really into it. The second time, because I was given a ticket, was one years later. I was done with them, but I didn't want to be rude. it was a good example of how fast tastes change when a teenager.
Michael Shore:

I'll have whatever the Generation Gap's drummer is having

Thats great we'll be able to share the Mets season with you this summer Ira, Georgia

Ira - that sound man at the Dream Syndicate show may have been - challenged - but couldnt have been nearly as bad as watching Gary Sanchez try to run the base paths ... just sayin '

Barney Grubbs:

an indelible memory from my youth is standing in a long line at the LA Children’s Museum, waiting to meet Ron Cey, then half-an-hour in watching in horror as the man himself left the museum, walking past all the kids in line, a look of disgust on his mustachioed face and muttering under his breath. Still a dodger fan, but it was rough on a ten-year-old.

Tuned into the show a little late. Just got home from my first trip in well over a year...to a field in Tivoli, NY. Sure is nice to have a landing at home in Saint Paul that is also easy on the ears.

I'm watching baseball from a Mets park, but its Cuba vs. Canada at the Mets spring training park. Intense game.

Olympics qualifying

whoa - bet that IS a good game !
  Swag For Life Member 11:16pm

@devlawn sounds like a good matchup

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:27pm
