Oh ! ...It's 80s Julie night !
...When I lived in Santa Barbara - I think 'Party Out Of Bounds' resonated with a certain section of the culture there - around some specific occurrences in that community...

I probably missed most of this stuff, but then again I was a kid (from 4 to 13) with a couple of records and a mono boombox. Even if it was for a few hours per week, the rock show on the Finnish Radio did play good stuff. A pity I was too young to stay up til midnight when you heard the best stuff

...my 80s now is very different from my 80s in the 80s :). ...
Have noted that - while my head is entrenched deeply in the 1960s - & 70s Punk was so relevant
...I went thru giant changes in the 80s - like Leaving Home for starters... & the Music was indispensable & significant to me. College Rawk emerging into Alternative & troubling the Charts was parallel to all my tectonic life shifts...
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 7:15pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

You really did have to stay up late &/or venture afield to get stuff back then !
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:16pm Candy-O'67:

Okay, kiddies! JR HTX told me to hop on over here that you were rockin' out, Julie! Hey everyone!

hiya Candy welcome! Hiya Bas!
Avatar 7:17pm Photocopy Cha Cha 2000:

I do remember hearing Pleasure And Pain from Divinyls early March 1986 - one remembers these things as like I said, there were not that many hours per week of any rock music on the radio, weirdly nothing on weekends.

I’m waving hello, Julie!

This Joy Division song is very similar to Atrocity Exhibition - also in that Bernard S. plays bass instead of guitar and Hooky does the opposite - but I prefer this. Much rawer, almost Stooges-y.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:30pm Scott67:

Knave, wouldn't dream of it mate!
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 7:34pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

There is Pre & Post MTV 80s, for one thing...
Tho' MTV had a couple different consequences. One was to bring 'obscure' stuff into U.S. living rooms. & - another was to bring Music down to the level of TV in some respects...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:34pm Scott67:

He sounds content today.

hiya Nick!
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 7:38pm Julie:

was the AC as loud as it is in my headphones?
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 7:38pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

This episode of Rollins has 'a tremendous second hour with Joy Division’s 1978 Arrow Studios RCA Sessions' - the album before their '1st' album that they scrapped & never released ! :
Most probly think it's still too Punk & not what JoyDivision pioneered. I think it's really interesting !...
  7:38pm Nick:

Hi Julie, did your neighbor ever get used to bird sounds? No. its really quiet.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:39pm Scott67:

Not at all Julie.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 7:39pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Just noticed loud birdie ! Like hearing the birdies...
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 7:40pm Julie:

yeah Rev folks missed then on Tuesday. Nick I haven't heard complaints recently
  7:41pm Nick:

Rabbit, i got a record player and finally listened to those vinyl albums from ukrainian ssr
Avatar 7:43pm Photocopy Cha Cha 2000:

I never saw any MTV (Europe) during 80s, but Music Box was awesome. A UK channel, you could watch it (via satellite/cable?) in Finland as well, my granny's apartment block had it & that's where I heard Kraftwerk, The Jesus And Mary Chain, New Model Army, Killing Joke, Bowie etc. from, many of them for the first time. There was classy stuff like that during early morning filler hours. Mindblowing stuff for a 9-year old.
  7:44pm Nick:

Julie that's good. My neighbors are still karening at one another over parking... They each own 4 cars. I sort of own between 2 and 8. So If I ever get them all back from repair shops. I will get a pincer-attack of karen-ing from both i think. very darryning concept.
  7:45pm Nick:

Othherwise not much new here, got a dna test kit as a gift, and got like 16,,023 matches and have been figuring out how i'm related to a few hundred that answered back..
  7:46pm Nick:

Bowie I've heard of. the others, no?
Avatar 7:46pm Photocopy Cha Cha 2000:

@7:38 Revolution Rabbit Nov63: the funny thing is the guy working for RCA in Manchester who got Joy Division there was mostly into Northern Soul and tried to get Joy Division to cover "Keep On Keepin' On" which became "Interzone". I think they disliked the recordings already at the time.
  7:47pm Nick:

I need to get more vinyl albums ^_^, cha cha oddly I have a bunch of finnis dna matches..
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 7:47pm Julie:

I got my turntable working finally but most of my stuff is still in storage. SOON!
Avatar 7:48pm Photocopy Cha Cha 2000:

@7:47 Nick: well lots of Finns found their way to USA during late 1800s and early 1900s
  7:49pm Nick:

It's strange because altough I have a ton of ancestors, none were from finland. I had some guys from samogitia and kyiv i rus and czarny rus, and some danes and swedes and sicambri, just no suomemsti =(
Avatar 7:49pm Photocopy Cha Cha 2000:

@7:47 Julie: YAY! Turntable fixed, quality of life improving.
Avatar 🦇 7:49pm The Knave:

This track is rippin!!
  7:49pm Nick:

Cha Cha the thing is thooughh, most of my ancestors were in the us in the 1300s-1700s, and i don't have empty spaces in the 1800s to add finns
  7:51pm Nick:

I did get some Prussians in the 1700s that got absorbed to germany in the fall of prussia, and their kids moved to usa in the 1800s. But they seem to be related to some czechs from a place called petrokoviwcz . it's kinda puzzling. i can't figure out where the finns fit.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 7:53pm Julie:

the sauna..the finns fit in the sauna
  7:55pm Nick:

Maybe. But it's still puzzling where they fit into the tree..
  7:56pm Nick:

I need to learn more history and geography the more i try to puzzle through it. And.. it's not productive ^_^.. But it's still interesting to try.
Avatar 7:57pm Photocopy Cha Cha 2000:

Well, it is juhannusyö (Midsummer night) and I'm not drunk, have not been to sauna or anything.
  7:58pm Nick:

Surprisingly all the dna matchhes in australia and the caymans and hong kong are so far all related to one single irish family that i goot an ancestor from too.
  7:59pm Nick:

chha chha, you don't hhhahhhve to be drunk to go to sauna wow mmy keyboard is sticking.
Avatar 7:59pm Photocopy Cha Cha 2000:

I'd like a fna test but then again, doesn't all the data become public?
Avatar 7:59pm Photocopy Cha Cha 2000:

fna? meant dna...
Avatar 8:01pm Photocopy Cha Cha 2000:

well it's a tradition to get plastered on the last weekend in june, when we celebrate midsummer.
Avatar 8:01pm HyperDose:

I wouldn't, Cha CHa: futurism.com...
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 8:01pm Julie:

yeah apparently the companies then own the rights to your DNA but THEN what?
  8:02pm Nick:

Hyperdose,, I have really good genetics though, so if we ever go into a futuristic gatticas dystopia i would do fine.
  8:02pm Nick:

Sigh. Uma Thurman used to be really good looking. I am getting old.
Avatar 8:03pm HyperDose:

Repopulating the species is going to be a grueling job, but I'm glad you're up to take one for the team, Nick!
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 8:04pm Julie:

hiya HD!
  8:05pm Nick:

HyperDose, didn't you learn anything from ancient greece, if you repopulate with good genetics then you will lose your hierarchial authority though... more likely we'd get limits on good genetics being used and state permission required =(
  8:08pm Nick:

Come to think of it, I think it was Schubert thath couldn't get permission to marry and thhat led to hhis depression.
  8:09pm Nick:

Dystopia would not be fun at all.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 8:11pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

New Wave Theater *was* dark & scary ! Speaking of staying up late for the good stuff...
Avatar 8:12pm HyperDose:

Hey Julie, what a cool time slot for a fill-in!
@Nick I'm just waiting for our Anunnaki overlords to come take us off this rock so we can party in space!
  8:13pm Nick:

Hyper, someone sent me a link to an icke alien conspiracy overlords video, but it was gonna be like 6 hours so i didnt watch it. Which ones are anunnaki?
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 8:13pm Julie:

Rev I thought it was just me!
  8:14pm Nick:

Are they the grey ones, the orange ones, the fish ones, thhe retile ones, the dangling ganglion arcachnids, whaht?
Avatar 8:17pm HyperDose:

@Nick They were apparently related to the Sumeric people. I assume the name comes from the Akkadian empire. Popularized by Zecharia Sitchin. The 12th Planet is a wild, yet essential read.
Avatar 8:19pm Photocopy Cha Cha 2000:

Now then, a Finnish postpunk classic. Thanks Julie!
Avatar 🦇 8:21pm Bas NL:

Wow! This by Musta Paraati rocks!
Avatar 8:24pm Photocopy Cha Cha 2000:

@8:21 Bas NL: Amen! Musta Paraati's Peilitalossa LP and the first single (a different version of the track we just heard, Romanssi) - they are essential.
Avatar 🦇 8:26pm Bas NL:

On my 'to dig in to' list now Cha Cha! :)
Avatar 8:28pm Photocopy Cha Cha 2000:

@8:26 Bas NL: That's lovely to hear! Another recommendation from same era & country: an album called "Kuinka Tänään Voit?" by a band called KUUDES TUNTI. I think both albums are on Spotify?
Avatar 🦇 8:33pm Bas NL:

Noted @Cha Cha! I'm not on Spotify, but i'm sure i'll find it. (And talking of Finnish best, i'm a big fan of Circle & Rättö ja Lehtisalo!)
  8:37pm Phillippe Bastille:

Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 8:38pm Julie:

hiya Phillippe!
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 8:40pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

SpottyFees is reportedly an Evile Corporation.
Avatar 8:40pm Photocopy Cha Cha 2000:

@8:33 Bas NL: plenty of good stuff in Circle's discography - but there are soooo many records there. I just realised it's been ages - soon 20 years - since I've last seen Circle live. Rättö & Lehtisalo have their moments too. Plus I think they have tens of sideprojects connected to Circle /R&L/Pharaoh Overlord.
  8:42pm Nick:

Hyper well, that explains the name,, what do they look like. (Also sorry for the delay, was signing up for some dna dating site so i can try full gattaca experience ^_^)
Avatar 8:42pm Photocopy Cha Cha 2000:

@8:40 Revolution Rabbit Nov63: well, Spotify is evil, they don't pay the artists, I don't pay them.
Avatar 🦇 8:42pm Bas NL:

I've seen Circle live one time... must have been somewhere around 2008; what a great concert!
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 8:42pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 8:43pm Julie:

I know this song ^_^ bananarama? much better tan the ace of base cover
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 8:44pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Yeah like that track !

...Well - I don't pay Mark Zuckerbird, but ...yerknow - if it's Free, you're the Product...
  8:49pm Nick:

ohh the site already found a 100% compatible dna match it says x.x I bet if i click it's gonna want a credit card. i feel so cynical.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 8:49pm Julie:

DNA Dating site?? Why?
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 8:51pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...make suer you're *not* related ??
...They actually have an app for that in Iceland because - Iceland.
Avatar 8:51pm Photocopy Cha Cha 2000:

Goth? maybe, the word was not in heavy use then. Peilitalossa is simply THE Musta Paraati album to go to, the second one (after which they soon split up) "Käärmeet" (1984) isn't as good if not bad, the new reunion one in english, Black Parade (2018) is not for me at all...
Avatar 🦇 8:52pm Bas NL:

A 100% DNA match... that would mean you've found yourself?
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 8:52pm Julie:

Bas I had the same thought!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:55pm JR HTX:

Julie, this would be a great time slot for this show. It's making me want to go out tonight!!!! Great show!

Musta Paraati was never the same after vocalist/occasional guitarist/songwriter Jore Vastelin left the band ( a bit after Peilitalossa had been released), he died in september 1993
  8:55pm Nick:

bas, it says 100% compatible ,, however that works, maybe they are my genetic opposite?

Julie gonna fink out for the usual Friday scheduling... Wish I could listen to everything !

  9:09pm Nick:

Avatar 9:10pm Photocopy Cha Cha 2000:

Never heard of Diestinct! I do like the aspect of a lot of this being previously unheard stuff. Always good finds here.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 9:10pm Julie:

Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 9:14pm Julie:

Norway representing!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:15pm Scott67:

G'day Ken.👍😎
  9:18pm Nick:

I forgot how exhausting clicking no on all the ugly dating app matches was. And it leaves me feel a bit judgemental and shallow too x.x
  9:21pm Nick:

Not sure either.. Uma Thurman was married to Ethan Hawke in real life. So I won't find her on a Gattaca-like dating app =(
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:23pm diciassette:

aww nice bed sounds!
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 9:26pm Ken From Hyde Park:

G'day, Scott! You're well into the weekend already.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 9:27pm Julie:

I think he was jealous he got really loud and shrill
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 9:27pm Julie:

I am two degrees from Uma, friend went to HS with her.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:28pm Scott67:

Yeah Ken, a cold Saturday coming up on noon.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:30pm Scott67:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:31pm diciassette:

Ahoy Scott! Hi Julie, this show rules and this is the best Church album if you ask me.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 9:32pm Julie:

it's new to me, I've been going off the Hindsight collections before
  9:32pm Nick:

Julie, how many degrees from Ethan then, 3?
Avatar 9:32pm Photocopy Cha Cha 2000:

@9:32 Julie: same! Hindsight 80-87 or whatever it is called
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 9:33pm Julie:

I guess yeah. I think he was quite unkind to her, actually
  9:34pm Nick:

Oh really? =(
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:34pm Scott67:

G'day diciassette.👍😎
  9:36pm Nick:

Oooo the app just showed me a 93% match who is absolutely stunning, and she's only 39 hours of airline rides distance away. And shares 5 of the interest boxes I ticked. I am gonna use up my first "like" and see if it asks me to add a credit card.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 9:37pm Julie:

39 hours BY PLANE??? that sounds very far
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 9:37pm Julie:

I could get to Scott faster than that
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 9:38pm Julie:

perhaps they take your DNA and her DNA and clone both of you and have the identical couple at hand
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:38pm Scott67:

Sure could wipe a few hours off that time. Where the hell is this "match"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:39pm Scott67:

Avatar 9:42pm Photocopy Cha Cha 2000:

I wouldn't mind some 70 hour train ride, but a plane... the longest I've flown is three hours and I want to keep it that way.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:44pm diciassette:

39 hours by plane sounds fishy. If you can stay above the rotating earth for 24 hours you ought to be able to come down just about anywhere you want?
  9:47pm Nick:

Sigh, another match in Uusima.
  9:49pm Nick:

Diciasette it's not a direct flight. I have to change planes 4 times..
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 9:51pm Miles of Middle Texas:

Hey Julie ! Hi y'all !
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 9:51pm Julie:

heya Miles!
  9:51pm Nick:

ChaCha I've done a 38 hour stretch of flights before, and then add airport tiem to that..
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 9:51pm Julie:

no way I could do that
  9:52pm Nick:

brb i jjust saw some massive scarab sized beetle cockroachroachh thing scurry under the table towards the lamp and i need to go get a dixie cup
Avatar 9:52pm Photocopy Cha Cha 2000:

let alone me, I hate flying.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 9:52pm Julie:

Avatar 9:53pm Photocopy Cha Cha 2000:

glorious stuff this, The Chameleons.
  9:53pm Nick:

not sure how it could get inside x.x but i know how it can get outside but i don't see it now.. i ave the cup if it returns.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 9:54pm Miles of Middle Texas:

Dang! What a great show ! Echo, , , .. chameleons !! Thank you. !
  9:54pm Nick:

it was about the side of my cell phone charger, but shorter and with movement .
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 9:54pm Julie:

what if you sent cockroach DNA instead of your own?
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 9:55pm Julie:

glad you enjoyed, Miles!
  9:55pm Nick:

It's way too big to fit through my drain x.x unless it climbed out as a baby and got big.
  9:56pm Nick:

But cockroaches flee from light, not run towards it. i wonder if it's something else like those beetles that lay larvae in ponds and aquariums and then feed on flies
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 9:56pm Miles of Middle Texas:

  9:57pm Nick:

Julie, at least we know my dna is not cockroach dna. One of my ancestors claimed to be descended from some sort of snake fish girl. Same one from the starbucks logo.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 9:58pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Zats, the end already? It's just really getting dark out. Thanks x80, Julie!
Avatar 9:58pm Photocopy Cha Cha 2000:

I've seen cockroaches in a brightly lit room. Means there are SO MANY OF THEM THEN.... yechhh. And they fit into spaces and through holes way smaller than their size.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:58pm Scott67:

Thanks Julie!
  9:59pm Nick:

Cha Cha , how did you get rid of them then?
  9:59pm Nick:

Quick before the chat closes tell me the cure.
  10:00pm Nick:

Much music left ^_^_^ yay. Thhanks Jullieee
Avatar 10:00pm Photocopy Cha Cha 2000:

@9:59 Nick: I didn't, I moved away, it was a student hall of residence, where the problem persisted, and the house company is notorious (in Germany) about the treatment of their residents.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:00pm diciassette:

Zanks Julie!
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 10:00pm Julie:

thanks everyone!!
  10:01pm Nick:

Oh. okay. maybe i can move.
Avatar 10:01pm Photocopy Cha Cha 2000:

Thanks Julie, a nice midsummer night soundtrack!
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 10:01pm Julie:
