Sun. Dec 22nd, 3pm - 5pm:
The Unsolicited Return of the Winter Soul-stice (fill-in for Paul Bruno)
(More info...)
You can't stop the seasons from turning, and you evidently also can't stop an old dog from performing his one old trick. Answering the teeming clamor of one New York Times food columnist
, Gaylord Fields is returning to WFMU's airwaves for a one-off Winter Soul-stice program. In his time away he's learned nothing, so the format will remain the same: two hours of original 1960s soul 45s, and the abuse of an expensive reverb machine for the sake of corny vocal effects.
Really sad about the passing of Biz Markie,I really liked him alot, I thought his records had a Rock and Roll sensibility filtered thru Dub I guess. He was funky in a down home sort of way and his records made me feel good
Danny, come hungry! I just made some plum enpanadas and a big bowl of potato salad. Do you mind sleeping on the living room floor?

yeah, gaylord….helluva set. Caetano into Tom V. very nice.
i finally met the man, (Tom) at the carts outside the Strand, as i was always told i would. we had a nice chat.
I met Tom outside the Lawrence Opera House in 1981. He told me that the band's gear was all stolen right before the tour and the clear Ampeg he was playing was a borrowed one.
@Little Danny: I recently unearthed it from the black hole that is my collection after way too many years, and I'm so happy I did.

@patrick
yeah…TV used to work at the Strand (like a lot of people we might know) and when i saw him, he was not just browsing, but “shifting shelves” as if he still worked there! fairly touching, i thought. maybe because i do the same thing sometimes, as an old library rat.
Michael, sorry I've been MIA. We're emptying out Chrestis studio. It's a mammoth undertaking. She's been there twenty three years and never emptied the trash it seems.
@ngh -- you were at FMU right?
SO bummed i missed you, would have loved to have said HELLO in person -- figures, i was so busy/overloaded, barely had a chance to do anything :(
