As for TheBeatles' Mono mixes - & those of many 1960s Artists in fact - they were different from the Stereo mixes - which means novelty appeal first off - & they common belief is they were the main market @ the time - & therefore got more attention from Producer Martin & the Engineers - with the Stereo a relative afterthought. That may be more or less true. Also of course - Mono mixes are often Punchier & more muscular as it were. I find for TheBeatles - this is often true, but it depends on the track in question how much this applies ? (Ticket to Ride is one example - & all of Sgt. Pepper is another...) & as for better or worse - they're just different. & the Mono well worth becoming acquainted with !
