"I listened yesterday. It's no reflection on you but I could'nt see where you were going or what you were going for. This early seventies thing did'nt get noticed the first time and you talk about friends of like Dealney and Bonnie who had records out like we're supposed to remember who they are. Then you play this long winded free jazz stuff that really grates on my nerves. And that noise without a beat and sounds like someones being pinched. Then you play a reggae song, I think you called it Dub, to what, be cool? You seem to really fetishize the whole folk thing too which is obnoxious to us who don't even care. I liked it when you played that punk song though. I like Joe Belock a lot." (Visit homepage.)

They intended to feed poison ivy through it, but reconsidered when they realized that they’d
be even more likely to get a rash than the audience would. They then decided that they would
feed raw chicken livers into the fan, but I do not believe they ever carried this out." source: www.yellowgreenred.com...

Always parodied & remarked upon for his loquacious, even recursive & definitely lecture-like style of on-air discourse of minutia & points of contention in the details of Jazz History (especially those pertaining to Charlie Parker)
- he was almost always beloved too by all these same people.
Losing Phil Schaap is a loss in Cultural Entertainment & Broadcasting
- but also like losing the best & greatest Library of Jazz Knowledge there can ever be.
He gave us a lot.
Philip van Noorden Schaap

Tonight 7pmSteal This Image: Artist Occupation of Public Space
Friday September 10th, 7pm -- Green Oasis Community Garden, 370 E 8th St
Steal This Image dives into two infamous art occupations of New York’s Lower East Side: ABC No Rio and the Rivington School. Both organizations took over abandoned and unused buildings for the purpose of artistic community use in downright denial of commercial art trends and real-estate.
Squat Life (2021, 5 minutes), Produced by LoisaidaTV.
Anti-Credo (1988, 30 minutes), Directed by Monty Cantsin.
156 Rivington (2003, 56 min), Directed by Andrea Meller.

You can always come with me (virtually/digitally) on my ongoing discovery of the local visual art scene I started shortly before the pandemic (although only a substitute for my future actual plan to see Art I have always desired to see, for when I get to other countries more serious about it)
your show has been LIFE to me this (pandemic) year.
