Hi everyone!

Candy-O'67:

Hey Jan! Slammed with work today and probably won't be able to comment much, but I'm tuning in!
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:06pm
Jan Turkenburg:

Hi Candy!

Paper Kosmonaut:

Hey Jan, hey Candy! Just rolled in from the rain and had a busy day. Radio on for my favourite radio day of the week.

Haaai PK!

Hi Jan!

This Harry Merry is funny...but is it supposed to be funny?

Paper Kosmonaut:

Haai, Rog, Tonijn, Rode poon!

Jan Turkenburg:

Hey Mr Fab!
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:12pm
Jan Turkenburg:

Harry probably doesn't give a damn.
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:30pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

I had an Art-and-Flywork-day today. Editing the film which is almost ready to be locked and go to postproduction and editing short films for the regional archives, collecting footage from the archives, being rained upon, doing shopping, I have done enough for today. Good tunes, a bit of dinner and the weight off my feet.
Avatar 12:30pm
Mr Fab:

that was more rocksteady or reggae than ska, but probably not many non-Jamaicans knew the difference in 1969. (Fact-checking the white reggae! A public service of Sheena's Jungle Room.)
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:32pm
Jan Turkenburg:

:-)
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:33pm
Jan Turkenburg:

Good for you PK!
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:36pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

It's a little weird. One moment you are isolated, working from home and almost standing still and the next moment it is more hectic than two years back.
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:41pm
Jan Turkenburg:

yeah surreal...
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:42pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

The funny thing with Johnny Lion and a lot of other early sixties idols is that they looked a lot older when they were young and in their fifties they looked a lot younger.
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:43pm
Jan Turkenburg:

hauw doe joe doe wat joe doe toe mie
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:44pm
Jan Turkenburg:

and Rob de Nijs is another example of that age distortion here
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:47pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

Internationally I would say Serge Gainsbourg. And I guess it also had to do with the stiffness of the suits the wore when they were young and the more unshaven appearances from later.
Avatar 12:52pm
Mr Fab:

A side of Wally Tax I've never heard before! more Roy Orbison than Kinks.
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:53pm
Jan Turkenburg:

Actually Mr fab, that's the side of Wally Tax most of us overhere know.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:53pm
Mike Sin:

Was Wally Tax consistently popular in the Netherlands? That is, was his material with Tx Free and his solo track held in the same regard as the Outsiders?
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:54pm
Jan Turkenburg:

Well, the critics and the big public thought less of everything Wally Tax did after the Outsiders.
Avatar 12:55pm
drolletje:

Hej, Jan and all you funky no-Mountaineers!
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:56pm
Jan Turkenburg:

Tax Free isn't even that known overhere. For a great deal Wally himself was to blame for that, because he disbanded the group that was supposed to tour to promote it.
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:56pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

Darryl!
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:56pm
Jan Turkenburg:

Hey Darryl!
Avatar 12:57pm
drolletje:

hey Hey, P to the K!
Avatar 12:57pm
drolletje:

sorry I'm late... shopping for a new washing machine!
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:58pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

Those are important things too, Darryl.
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:58pm
Jan Turkenburg:

Wally made more unfortunate decisions like that, according to the biography written by Rutger Vahl.
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:59pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

Didn't Wally have a competent manager?
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 1:02pm
Jan Turkenburg:

Yes, at one point he did. Several attempts were made to have Wally get his act together... but heroine and alcohol destroy more than ... etc, etc...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:03pm
Mike Sin:

Even at this point, after listening to the Outsiders and Tax Free for a million years, I still have not heard Wally's solo "Love In" album
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 1:04pm
Jan Turkenburg:

Hello Mike (btw)!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:05pm

Hello there Jan -- I always enjoy your show! I don't get a chance to comment much because I'm often sneaking a listen between meetings at work.
