Texas murderer Lawrence Russell Brewer’s last meal request: Two chicken fried steaks smothered in gravy with sliced onions; a triple meat bacon cheeseburger with fixings on the side; a cheese omelet with ground beef, tomatoes, onions, bell peppers and jalapeños; a large bowl of fried okra with ketchup; one pound of barbecue with half a loaf of white bread; three fajitas with fixings; a Meat Lovers pizza; three root beers; one pint of Blue Bell vanilla ice cream; and a slab of peanut butter fudge with crushed peanuts.Brewer's request was granted, but he refused the meal when it arrived saying that he was simply not hungry, prompting Texas to stop granting last meal requests to condemned inmates.

There is a definite change with Jake Holmes when he leaves Capitol/Tower and signs to Polydor. I'm guessing they wanted him going in a more commercial direction (he probably did to!), but I'm guessing most folks still favor those first two Tower LPs in terms of interesting material and the inclusion of "Dazed and Confused," of course.

A fun part of Ian Hunter's book is his focus on buying "old" tube amps (this was 1972 and he's talking about amps from the early '60s) because he felt solid-state amps just weren't delivering it and folks will want that old sound. Great prognostication there!
