Favoriting Hinky Dinky Time with Uncle Michael: Playlist from October 15, 2021 Favoriting

Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

RRN63 @ 1:16-it's the natural thing after someone passes away. But I remember many times listening to his Saturday night show in my car-he'd play a half hour of great music from the 40's, then talk about it for an hour, hard to listen to (and he went on longer as he got older). Still, he was quite a source of knowledge for me as I was learning about jazz)

docjazz - since there was No Quiz (for me anyhow) - I quite enjoy(ed) it. Mostly. I don't mind a knowledgeable lecture - but frankly it wasn't always on topic. Like concentric circles around the topic ...which can have a quality of its own as Radio even. A lot going on there. Jazz attracts these types a bit as well of course... I ike iTunes University talks by a guy called Dr. Gordon Vernick... As to the William Hung version of Rocket Man, remember that one of the prices we pay for free-form is that the DJs have to continue to love DJing, so they're not going to do something to torture themselves unless it's a stunt for either donations or recognition. One of the advantages of the automated portions of the streams is that no DJ has to listen all the way thru, just curate them. For all we know, that number may be in the archives of one of them. Maybe it was played on World's Worst Records, or will be.
