I am pleasantly surprised by today’s theme. There was a period in the pre-internet ‘90s when I was so obsessed with vintage funk, blaxploitation soundtracks, etc. that I would actually drive down to Watts to look through the thrift stores and swap meets.

The jazz bins were a good place to look, too - ‘70s jazz records seemingly had no collectors value, you could get them for cheap, so I checked the ones that had credits for congas and percussion, Hammonds, Moogs, a guitarist named “Wah-wah”…
