Digging the tunes, man, snapping my fingers (on 2 and 4)!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:24pm
Sam Segal:

Make sure to pace yourself with that snapping. We've got a lot of swinging to do over the next 90+ minutes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:28pm
doctorjazz:

In real Bop and post Bop territory. Love this Booker Little (and all that preceded it)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:30pm
Sam Segal:

Amazed to find out Booker Little was only 20 years old when he recorded this record.
  3:34pm
rw:

Just drove 35 miles in 43 min across LA at noon on a Thursday. Including circling back to make sure I closed the garage door.

Thanks for the music Sam, and happy Thanksgiving everyone!
  3:35pm
rw:

Toe tapping all the way. I think it freaked out the other drivers.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:36pm

A Thanksgiving miracle! Nice to have you along for the ride, rw.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:07pm
doctorjazz:

Love the title of this Ashby album!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:09pm
Sam Segal:

Ashby's harp was indeed as hip as it gets.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:11pm
doctorjazz:

Great set (I'm all smiles). This Hawkins/Webster album is terrific.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:15pm
doctorjazz:

Hawk 1st out of the gate (Webster started out very heavily Hawkins influenced, but over time became Gentle Ben, softened his sound (still could gutbucket when he wantedv to).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:16pm
coelacanth∅:

greetings Sam, stablemates, unstablemates...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:16pm
Sam Segal:

I love the Oscar Peterson led rhythm section on that Hawkins/Webster album too.

  4:25pm
Mike cooper:

What is yr background music?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:27pm
Sam Segal:

Mike! Glad to have you aboard. That background music was the song "Steelin' the Blues" by Jerry Byrd from the album "Hi-Fi Guitar."
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 4:27pm
WR:

I didn't hear no samba!

Hi Sam, doc, coel, and all. Catching the last set, after watching a movie, Stillwater.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:28pm
Sam Segal:

@Doc, I wasn't aware Doug was an Oscar Peterson hater!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:29pm
Sam Segal:

Welcome, WR! Samba is a state of mind, I always say. What did you think of Stillwater? I wanted to see that.
  4:29pm
mike cooper:

Thank you Sam...nice piece.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:31pm
doctorjazz:

This is a fairly fluid take (for Monk), interesting...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:32pm
doctorjazz:

Even Monk has smoothed out many of his usual rough edges...
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 4:35pm
WR:

Hmmmmm. Just finished it. Not fully digested.

I can write that it I think it is worth seeing but not a great movie. IMO FWIW.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:36pm
doctorjazz:

The Tristano/Konitz band has such a distinctive sound (Tristano is said to have hated Drummers, and made them play as quietly as they could)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:36pm
Sam Segal:

Maybe I'll watch it next time I'm on an airplane.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:37pm
Doug Schulkind:

There's a new Lennie Tristano box that I'd love to get for Xmas (hint, hint).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:37pm
Sam Segal:

@Doc, I love the Konitz/Marsh duo sound.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:39pm

@WR, too many early deaths in the history of jazz.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:39pm
doctorjazz:

Doug, you shouldn't have told me about the Tristano box...
