Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

Jarrett plays all the instruments. Total solo album except a couple of tracks that have string quartet overdub.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06pm StringOFperils:

Funny, I recognize his voice, because he vocalizes a lot at the keyboard...bleeding into the piano mics
  1:07pm phat in lincoln:

The Wikipedia entry on this is hilarious:

"George Avakian, the producer of this album, says that it was Jarrett's idea, not his, and comments: 'I was so embarrassed about it and that's one of the reasons Nesuhi [Ertegun] didn't want to keep Keith -because he hated that album.'"

Keith Jarrett is, aside from being an incredibly gifted artist, one of modern music's most enigmatic personalities. Unfortunately, for those of us who rever his talent and huge musical output, he suffers from nerve damage that makes playing the piano with both hands now nearly impossible. Joni Mitchell has similar problems.
